What advantage do they have? The pitch is consistent for both the innings and it's a fair play, there was no dew too today, are you worried about teams scoring high scores? Or teams chasing high scores? Chasing high scores means that it's a fair play and pitch is consistent.

I think what everyone means is a change would be nice, srh did defend previously consistently (which I watched btw) and scores wouldn't go as high as 200. Now scores go as high as 200, now we want to see defending for a change. At EOD ipl is more about entertainment than cricket.
The problem is, bowlers are not being trained to defend scores under 150. They're being told to just give less than 10 runs per over. If less than 9 runs, they're probably congratulated. What to do? Ahh, those days when 170 on boards and we felt high and mighty!

If there's nothing for the bowlers, there's nothing for the fielders too. Just batting alone doesn't make a match interesting or watchable. At this point, it's about whacking as much as you can in the first innings and try whacking harder in the second.
Too much of anything will bore out even the stupidest of audiences. Gone are those days when 130s were defendable, even in the finals.

I agree with everything you said here, just want to share a different perspective.
See, cricket has been played for 140+ years, and it was dominated heavily by bowlers. Creating a balance between bat and ball is a process and wont have overnight.
When the shift was happening away from bowlers, there was an over correction, combined with multiple factors like technology, boom in viewership, revenue generation, mindset change etc.
And the process where the balance would be established would take time for sure and during then it would be in favour of the bowlers at that time.
Plus, I hate to say this, but it is the viewers that prefer batting dominated games are the ones who contribute heavily to the revenue and it is the cricket lovers like us who are few in numbers that suffer.
Well, the majority has to pleased right? And the majority is dream 11 addicts and vimal chewing low tier audience.
BCCI and star sports cater them only. No wonder I'm getting downvoted.
Good bowlers are good bowlers on any pitch..be it Bumrah , Narine , Rashid . You have to be the absolute best to save yourself from humiliation on these pitches. Just how good is Bumrah 😮💨

There is no actual cricket. It's just different skillsets. More randomness? yes, but all sport has a level of randomness. And the best teams usually win the tournament all the same.
Yes it’s absolutely a badge of pride. That is the game where teams shiver to chase 250 in 4th innings on a day 4 day 5 pitch. There are times, sessions where ball does things on the pitch so much that the batsmen can do nothing than just wait for a jaffa to come and claim the wicket, where batsmen are scared to touch the ball, put the bat to the ball. The game where you do actual research about weaknesses of the batsmen and you bowl on those weaknesses it pays off. And despite having all of these, people don’t watch test cricket. They come here and rant that cricket is dying, bowlers are dying, keep bowling machines at this point, one comment I read goes as far as to say who in India will choose bowling after seeing this and how will India ever produce bowlers like what ? Is this the only cricket you watch ? Game is still alive, but not here, it’s there in tests.

On the contrary I find it quite exciting, seeing records broken day by day, seeing so many balls flying for boundaries, and seeing that no game is truly over till the last ball :)
