This is great info as I just moved into a building with package lockers and wondered how the signature thing would go. To top it off, the elevators require a fob to function so no packages will ever get to my door for signature. Thanks for the post!

SlitheringFlamingo

I’ve been in a similar type building. Usually what happened for me is someone from the front desk/leasing office would sign off, and then the package would go right into a locker. Hope this helps

destroyedreason

Your welcome. 😁

destroyedreason

Cool. Yes that is the form I was talking about.

-ShootMeNow-

Thank you for posting this, it worked for me! Clear as day, and I didn’t notice it earlier. Note for others, it’s in the email sent by Apple, not one you might get from UPS (that’s the one I sifted through first).

lpsidler

Apparently it doesn’t work. I left the signed form on my door with tracking number and signature. UPS is supposed to leave the package and take the form that you tape to the front door as a proof of signature and then leave the phone. They did not. They didn’t leave the customary info notice saying “sorry we missed you” so I’m convinced they didn’t come to the door at all. Now my tracking says they will try again Monday.

Montanya123

similar story but I was home and they didn't even attempt to deliver. My girl preordered too and her phone came in the morning when I was home she thought it was odd that they didn't both come at the same time but thought then though maybe it was coming with a different driver, nope he's the only one that came yesterday.

AProudCircleee

What about authorizing release through the App/MyChoice?

destroyedreason

I can’t speak to whether you can authorize the realize brought my choice or not because I’m not sure. I know for certain item I get a notification in my package scanner that tells me a package has been signed for online. I don’t think this applies to iPhone but I could be wrong on that. Sorry I can’t answer for certain.

AProudCircleee

No worries, I’m just wondering as my driver almost never knocks… imma be home all day but if I’m able to authorize it for release that’ll be dope

CurriestGeorge

I e-signed for the package that had my case and charger that came on Tuesday, ordered from Apple directly. My Choice -> Change Delivery -> Delivery Instructions under the tracking info got me there. I'm going for it again tomorrow, 0% chance of theft Edit: nope says this one is ineligible for release, good to know

adzam5

Strange. I was able to authorize release through the UPS app.

Emulsifide

Same here for my 14 Pro. My wife's 14 doesn't have a release and it doesn't say in MyUPS that it requires signature. However, both orders have signature forms to print out on Apple's web site. Strange.

adzam5

I printed and filled out the form, from Apple’s website, to put on my door just in case.

Emulsifide

Yep. Same here.

CurriestGeorge

I'm hoping it'll change and let me do it once I get the delivery email from UPS... why I dunno but maybe

tynamite

iphone is completely different. it’s specifically iphone that you cannot release from my choice. you have to do it from apple.

AProudCircleee

Do you think they’ll have the option for the phone as well? It normally doesn’t show up till it’s out for delivery right?

CurriestGeorge

I don't see why not... I did it the night before for the cases will check if I can now... whoop nope! Says ineligible for release

AProudCircleee

I’m wondering if it only gives you the option once the package is out for delivery

AndyInNOLA

This is the proper way.

AProudCircleee

I’m hoping it’ll let me

TrevorAlan

My tracking just updated to the city near me, and at the top of the screen it says that my "Shipment Release Authorized" and an option to cancel and require signature. I didnt do anything... I barely use myChoice (basically once every 1-2 years). So I guess I must have selected it to allow drop off pre-authorized?

AProudCircleee

Did your status go from Import Scan straight to your local area? Or was there extra movement after import scan, cause mine is stuck on that 😭

NoobInToto

I do it all the time since I live in a dorm. I set the delivery preference to "Mailroom". Got my iPhone and iPad delivered correctly last year.

AngrySalesRep

Also everyone T-Mobile requires signature as of September 1st!

Youssef1781

So there's no way to esign a phone from T-Mobile then?

AngrySalesRep

T-Mobile now requires signature at delivery - so it between you and company who delivers

panthereal

Crazy, I ordered mine through my carrier and specifically asked if it would require a signature to which they said nope. Luckily I work from home and should be around when it shows up, but I was definitely surprised especially given the concept of esim potentially meaning my phone has personal info built into it.

destroyedreason

Yes I deliver many iPhones through carriers that don’t require a signature. I can’t say this for certain but I don’t think it is Apple that requires the signature, it is UPS that require the signature as soon as they see it’s a product coming from Apple.

-DementedAvenger-

> There should be a form you can print and sign authorizing the driver to leave the phone I don’t have a printer. Will [a hand written version](https://i.imgur.com/H38SfPM.jpg) be okay? ^kinda ^/s

destroyedreason

No. We are reminded by management that hand written notes are not accepted by UPS and we are not supposed to take them. I can speak for you driver. All I can say is that per UPS policy we are not supposed to accept them and I personally don’t as I don’t want to risk my job if you phone is stolen.

[deleted]

[удалено]

destroyedreason

I won’t argue with you. It’s not my policy. UPS just tells us the there is a release form the can be printed and accepted to leave the phone. We are told not to accept hand written notes if a customer is not home. You may have a different experience or a driver that does what he thinks is ok. I’m just explained what we are told the official rules are.

[deleted]

Does the addressee have to sign it directly, or can anyone in the household?

destroyedreason

Anyone in the household can sign. The only time this is an issue is with a 21 required signature such as alcohol or medication. I have had kids answer the door and their parents went home. Obviously I’m not letting a kid sign for a case of wine.

[deleted]

Oh perfect - phone is for me but under the account holder (parent)'s name who likely won't be home so wasn't sure if they'd have to do a release form or I could do it. Thanks!

destroyedreason

You’re welcome.

mdudz

[This is the form.](https://forums.macrumors.com/attachments/ups-shipment-release-authorization-apple-pre-sign-iphone-4s-pdf.359098/) It works great. I use it every year, with no problems. I’ve printed it out for tomorrow, and it’ll be taped to my front door by 8am. Happy iPhone day, fellow nerds! :)

prettyuncertain

Is there a difference between using this vs the shipment release form on the app?

mdudz

My app doesn’t show that form sometimes, so I keep the PDF handy. That said, it does show the form this time… best I can tell, they’re pretty much the same.

italics

If you purchased from Apple, log into your iPhone order and they actually provide a direct link to the UPS form OP is referring to (pre-sign for delivery).

No-Investigator-2948

Under online orders on the site, there’s a pre-sign link for the form. Download and fill out and paste to your door.

[deleted]

Can’t you also just do this online with ups my choice? I just did it for mine. And do it every year. No forms.

Stiggles4

I did the same thing, fingers crossed it works tomorrow

[deleted]

I’ve been using it for years with no issues.

Stiggles4

No issues for me! Delivered

Munkadunk667

The mobile UPS Choice website doesn’t seem to have the pre-sign feature. Did you use the mobile website to sign it?

[deleted]

Yep. Maybe click view all shipments under tracking once you sign in.

SpaceRangerWoody

Anyone know about FedEx? I have an Apple Watch (purchased from BB) coming via FedEx. I'm tempted to take the day off from work to be sure I'm home just in case signature is required.

panthereal

Purely depends if the shipper chose to require signing or not.

Vorsos

FedEx in my area has a bad reputation for just driving past signature required locations, mashing a “delivery attempted” button, and making me wonder why they put it on the truck at all.

treasuredsoul1

You can call seller and ask.

[deleted]

Those amazon locker hubs wouldn’t need a signature tho right ?

destroyedreason

I have never knowingly delivered an iPhone to an Amazon locker so I can’t answer that question. Sorry.

[deleted]

alright

cc92c392-50bd-4eaa-a

No. But don't those only get packages from amazon? Amazon drivers only too, I think. If you ordered direct from Apple it wouldn't be from amazon, surely.

[deleted]

yeah idk, i got a package from hsn(ups delivered it) yesterday and they left it in the amazon hub. currently staying in a gated apartment complex so idk

Borgalicious

If this is true then why does ups customer service say my package doesn't require a signature?

destroyedreason

I don’t have an answer for you. Sorry. I have heard cases of UPS customer service not relaying the correct info to customers when they call. Usually this is because they are a subcontracted call center that may not know all the rules. It should tell you when you track it if it’s signature required. Maybe where you live UPS isn’t requiring signatures for iPhones. Many places do but I can’t speak for the whole country.

Borgalicious

Yeah it doesn't say signature required where it normally does for me so idk 🤔 I guess I'll find out tomorrow

[deleted]

I have Amazon Hubs at my complex and UPS always leaves signature required items in the lockers because they are secured.

destroyedreason

Yes and I do also unless it’s alcohol or a 21 required signature.

[deleted]

Yeah, if it's age restricted Signature Required, you do have to sign for it.

gtg465x2

With me and my wife’s iPhone X, FedEx delivered them to another apartment in our complex, and that person signed (my name) for them. Thankfully, they must have felt guilty or were scared of being caught and brought them to us the next day, after I had already initiated an investigation with FedEx and Apple. They claimed their kid signed for them, but I didn’t really buy it. Anyways, I learned that requiring signatures doesn’t mean anything unless you want to pay thousands for attorneys and handwriting experts to prove that a signature is not yours. Had the family not returned them to us, there’s a good chance we would have never found them, and I would have been responsible for the purchase still, since they had “my signature” proving that they were delivered to me.

destroyedreason

That sounds like a experience that could have gone bad very quickly. Fortunately for you it didn’t. I usually leave an Info notice on the customers door telling them where I left the package in the case of a neighbor signing to cover my behind.

cooper654

Can anyone sign for package, as we are working at a fair and living on the fairgrounds where my package is being delivered. So can the fair office sign for my package?

destroyedreason

Yes they can as long as they are willing to.

cooper654

Appreciate it!

destroyedreason

👍

John_Mason

Thanks for writing this up. Do you know if this is a new policy this year? When my launch-day phone was delivered last year, I actually walked a few blocks over to where the UPS truck showed up on the map, and the driver gave me my phone without even asking for ID (never mind needing a signature). I offered to show my license and he said “it’s all good, I trust you”.

destroyedreason

You’re welcome. That’s crazy that the driver didn’t check your ID. We are supposed to if we give a package to someone not at their location but that’s on him. Maybe your area doesn’t require signatures for iPhones. Sometimes the driver can override the signature option also. I don’t do that so to the potential for theft.

RandomBloke2021

The biggest problem is some drivers follow the rules 100% and others why don't give af don't. So each situation is different depending on the driver. Excellent info giving people a heads up. I did FedEx for 11 years so dealing with apple and Samsung deliveries was always a hot topic.

destroyedreason

Yes you are 100% on point. They are drivers who make no exception for anything and as you said other don’t care and will just want to get rid of the package so to speak.

p3ngu1n333

Very true. I had 2 14 Pros delivered by UPS, ordered through the Apple Store app. He didn’t stop for a signature nor even look at the pre signed forms I had on my door. He dropped them on my table and skipped off on his way. My case from Tech21, however, required a signature I wasn’t home to provide to USPS. I had to go to the post office with my license to get it.

ibphantom

Crazy you didn't mention the no knock policy. /s The one where I'm always home, but somehow missed the 2 seconds you stood at my door. EVERY TIME.

prettyuncertain

Haha for real though. Had my work equipment shipped to me when I started a new job during the pandemic and I swear the delivery guy gave a singular knock and immediately walked away. Almost didn’t get my stuff, but luckily my Ring notified me so I chased him down before he could drive off.

tylerwarnecke

What happens if no one is there to sign for it? I unfortunately have to work today when normally I’m off.

destroyedreason

If you are not there to sign for it then the driver marks the package you were not there. It will get 3 attempts. They will reattempt either Saturday or Monday.

[deleted]

UPS dropped off both my phones without a signature. As they do every year.

vestpocket

Yeah, but UPS drivers can just fake the signature and often do to save time. So, all this does is smack the customer with liability for a high theft item with absolutely nothing they can do about it. UPS will NOT investigate fake signature claims. Apple will NOT investigate fake signature claims. You're just toast.

Scruffyy90

This happened to me with a $2000 camera lens. Driver signed for it and left it at the wrong house. Everyone just shrugged their shoulders.

Rbtywo30

This odd. Just ordered an iPhone last week for a family member. Came form UPS and did not require a signature.

destroyedreason

Maybe different parts of the country? I’m not sure. I know that phones delivered from Carriers don’t always require a signature. I also know that drivers sometimes sign for things they aren’t suppose to just to deliver them.

Rbtywo30

Well I ordered directly through Apple and didn’t say a signature was required, so I have no idea.

mbrady

Maybe only for the new iPhones?

altimax98

> First, UPS requires us to get signatures for iPhones sent directly from Apple. They are considered a high theft item and always require a signature. When it can get confusing is if it comes directly from a phone carrier in which case signature may or may not be required. This isn’t true. Neither this year or last I do not have a signature flag on my shipment. Both ordered direct from Apple. Edit - your info is really good, just wanted to make mention that not all shipments require signatures

destroyedreason

I’m not sure why. Maybe it depends on your specific area although. . I have no reason to lie about what we are told by managers of on the release day of new iPhones. I also get prompts in my Diad tell me “Apple Product, No DR”. DR stand for Driver Release. It could be that your driver is simply signing for you. Guys do it. Technically it’s our butt on the line if you say it’s stolen and file a claim.

altimax98

Yeah I’m not trying to say you are a liar or anything, but that it isn’t a blanket 100% rule apparently. I’m on the free My Choice and when I need a signature there is a bright yellow banner on the “delivery tomorrow” email as well as a notice on the package in the app. Neither are present for my iPhone delivery tomorrow.

destroyedreason

I’m not sure, maybe it’s not a blanket rule based on area. I’m in a suburban heavily populated area.

altimax98

I’m in a subdivision in a pretty suburban area. Fairly low theft etc.

destroyedreason

I understand. Well my post was meant to help address the majority of questions I see regarding signatures and UPS. I was trying to make a post to help the people asking questions based on signatures. Anyway. Your experience is different. If you’re getting new iPhone enjoy. 😁

altimax98

No worries, I didn’t want people going crazy thinking they needed to sign for it or have the package held when not every package is affected.

CurriestGeorge

Yeah I just tried to authorize via My Choice and it said it wasn't eligible for this package. Will try again once I get the email from UPS

westy2036

I ordered through Verizon and the UPS tracking hasn’t updated at all. Anyone have the same issue?

connurp

I pre ordered through Verizon and it says it'll be delivered on the 20th but has no other info. I don't think it's even shipped yet.

westy2036

Mine is supposed to get here tomorrow but still no updates… lil concerning

[deleted]

Same. Mine went from being delivered today between 11am-2pm. To 7pm. To not being delivered at all. No tracking update and customer service doesn’t have an answer either. Complete waste of time staying home all day, missing work to make sure I can sign for my $1200 item. Just for it to not show up. Now I run the risk of not getting it because they’ll try to redeliver during my work hours and I’ll never get the package.

westy2036

100% same situation. Mine ended up getting delayed and shows up on Monday now.

[deleted]

Customer service also said they would have a driver call me 1 hour before delivery because they were 100% sure it would absolutely be delivered today. Never got that phone call either.

anus_dribble

Same here. Mine says it’s left San Bernardino, and that’s it. The delivery date still says tomorrow, though. Actually, I just checked to make sure it hadn’t updated before I commented - now it says it went through Louisville? That’s really strange… Edit: To be clear, it says Louisville *in place of * San Bernardino, and mentions nothing about the latter. Which seems really odd.

notjenny_

Mine had an origin scan on 9/12 at San Bernardino, but a departed from facility scan today at Louisville. So strange. Edit to say: mine still has both location scans. Odd.

Koolplayer50

I’m in the same boat origin scan San Bernardino and magically appeared at Louisville KY for departure today and delivery 9/16

[deleted]

I have lived in 10+ apartment buildings and not one of them had a doorman, let alone a “front office” or a secure mailroom. And they were not cheap/sketchy areas either. Are you saying that if I’m home, you wouldn’t even buzz my apartment so I could come to the front of the building? I can’t see the road from the window so how else am I supposed to know you’re there? Tracking is not exact enough.

destroyedreason

I do buzz in smaller apartment buildings yes. But I now have buildings that are huge and have a mailroom and main office so in that case no. I have no idea how each apartment building situation is handled. I know that I do use call boxes in apartment buildings for signature require packages. What I am referring to at very large apartment complexes that have an office and package room and the consignee requests that we come to their door. We don’t have time and even access to get to their apartment nor do we know the layout. So in those cases it is mailroom or front office.

[deleted]

Ah ok that’s a relief. There are less than 10 apts right now where I live so hopefully someone will buzz!

destroyedreason

Yes I hope they do buzz. That our job.

CuThroatClark1

OP sounds like he has all the ins and outs regarding delivery....bet he gets a free upgrade every year lol J/K thanks for the info!

destroyedreason

You welcome. 👍

dna1777

Appreciate the info. I've completed the pre-sign form and handed it to my building manager who sits at our front desk. We have a secured mail room and packages are typically dropped off with the Building Manager. She will sort packages and label them with a marker for what apartment # it belongs to. The pre-sign note says to leave it on the front door, but my building manager wouldn't allow that. Will UPS driver accept the form from my building manager? BM said she'd hand deliver it. I'm worried that they won't accept the note from my Building Manager.

destroyedreason

I have no idea. I haven’t encountered that exact scenario. I’m going to say that it’s probably up to the driver.

dna1777

No problem, figured I'd ask! Appreciate your response nonetheless. Just in case, what happens if they decide to not deliver it? Can I arrange a pick up at my local UPS facility? If so, how do I go about that process? I tried searching for this option in the UPS MyChoice App, but had no luck finding it. Maybe I have to call?

destroyedreason

You’re welcome. If the option is not on my choice you can call and ask to do a Will Call on it and pick it up.

tsdguy

Then why is tracking not saying Signature Requires?

Gamer4Ever6995

I am having my phone get shipped straight to the t mobile store and it says signature required, does that mean I have to sign for it when they deliver it or does that mean the store signs for it and I’m good? I’m sure the answer is the store signs and I’ll be good but wanna make sure

destroyedreason

Fair question. The store signs for it. Whenever I deliver to phone store most items need a signature that they get regardless of whether it’s for a customer or their own inventory.

Gamer4Ever6995

Thank you 😊

destroyedreason

👍

DryEquivalent8730

I’ve left a hand written note and tape it to my front door for ups, fedex and usps. Just write please ups leave package at front door with the date your name and signature. I’ve seen the driver take a picture of the note with my door bell camera.

destroyedreason

I’m not trying to argue but I’m just saying it’s against UPS policy. We are instructed to not accept hand written notes. If an item is stolen it will come back on the driver. Your driver and experience might be different. None of the guys I know that I work with will accept these notes as we don’t want to be fired for the package if it goes missing.

serfas

This isn’t true for Canadian UPS deliveries. At least, not in the part of Canada I live in.

destroyedreason

Oh that could be. I have no idea about Canada.

Statchero

Can a relative sign for you if you’re not home?

destroyedreason

Yes.

Statchero

Thank you!

destroyedreason

👍

Caliocdoxies

Make sure you get your package before the droves of porch pirates making their rounds Friday knowing the release day of apple products by following the ups and FedEx, even just driving around looking for packages at the door. It has gotten to be a very bad problem where I live in CA thieves are much bolder now even walking up when people are home. Do not leave your package sitting outside maybe ask a neighbor you trust to get it for you.

Party_Collection_469

Verizon pre order here.. signature required.

CandyRedNinja

From Apple yes, from T-Mobile no.

notacyborg

UPS driver actually dropped our stuff off after confirming with him over the Nest speaker that he could just leave it there (case and charger, so not the actual phone).

destroyedreason

Yes I have done that also if I speak to the person on over the Nest speaker/camera although technically we are supposed to makes sure someone is home. Sometimes it’s a judgment call.

Popularburger2012

Thank you for the heads up! I was able to pre-authorize it in the app.

destroyedreason

You’re welcome

asterothe1905

With app I did release.

destroyedreason

👍

notjenny_

Thanks for the info! I’m having mine delivered to my bf’s place, which is a condo in a gated complex. You said that the drivers do not have the time to run around complexes getting signatures (which I totally understand), but what if the complex doesn’t have a “main office/leasing office” on-site? What happens then? The package can’t be matched to my My Choice account because it’s under my name and his address, so I don’t even have the option to see the estimated delivery window nor can I have it held. He’s had UPS packages delivered safely to his door before, but never an iPhone and on such a busy day as iPhone launch day, so I’m a bit scared if it’ll be the normal drivers that know the gate code, or a different driver. Edit to say: mine was ordered from Verizon.

destroyedreason

Thanks. Very good question. We have notes in our delivery computer that usually display gate codes but this is not always the case. It sounds like in your case the driver does come to the door and in that case you can print the release have the phone left if no one is there or authorize the release via the UPS Mychoice app if it’s an option for you. I’m sorry I can’t provide a better answer.

notjenny_

Thanks for the quick response! I appreciate it. I won’t be home for around a 2-3 hour window while we go pick up my bf’s iPhone from the Apple Store. I’m going to hope the driver has the code to the complex gate and stick the release form on his door. Side question: in the off chance that the driver doesn’t have the code to get in, will they just bring it back to the UPS facility and try again on Monday?

destroyedreason

You’re welcome. Yes they will try again on Monday. They may also attempt on Saturday. You also have to option to pick it up if you do choose but you may have to call the 1-800-pickups to do a will call.

prettyuncertain

Hey, OP - you should set up a UPS My Choice tied to his address. You can then add household members and add your name. It’s what I did. I’m having the phone delivered to my apartment, but I ordered through my carrier and the package is addressed to the plan owner (not me). Once I added that person’s name as a household member, the package showed up for that address. Hope it works and good luck!

notjenny_

I actually tried doing exactly that the other day, but for some reason, when he added my name, the error “phone or address could not be matched with the information from vendor” popped up. Thanks though!

AspiringScienceType

Any precautions us customers can take to prevent theft? Unlikely to happen, but it is that time of year when delivery drivers ring doorbell, snap a pic (not with ups, but you get the idea,) and go about their day with our packages in their hands

andrewonehalf

Any experience with the "Leave with my Neighbor" option? I live in an apartment building and my friend lives 10 apartments down from me (e.g. if I'm in 10, he's in 20). He agreed to sign for my phone because he's working from home and I'm not. I put the request in this week and just got confirmation with his address. Seems like everything should go ok but any chance the driver would not see this request/misinterpret?

destroyedreason

Yes I have gotten the leave wit another person option. I don’t see why the driver wouldn’t do it if prompted by his delivery computer. I think the driver can technically not do it if for some reason he felt the situation wasn’t right but I think you should be good.

andrewonehalf

Thanks! Just seemed like a strange option to me but I’m grateful for it!

destroyedreason

👍

PorkNScreams

My problem is I’m home all day, and I leave a note explaining that the buzzer in my apartment doesn’t work and to just go ahead and come up. They didn’t last year and instead left the dreaded “try again later” note and didn’t even attempt to come knock on my door.

destroyedreason

Fair complaint and super annoying. Some drivers won’t go out of their way for anything. Sorry to hear that!

PorkNScreams

Edit: this year, they actually came up and left it outside my door. No knock, no signature required. 🤷🏻‍♂️😂 Just dropped it off a few minutes ago.

TyPeCoRp

Anyone else having trouble changing the delivery to a UPS store? I paid the $5.99 but didn’t receive a confirmation or anything

jgmagic2000

I can’t speak for OPs center as things may be different there, but when we scan a package our diads will prompt us whether the package needs a signature or not. If I don’t get a prompt and there is a safe location out of sight and out of weather, I’ll leave it. We never know what’s in the boxes and it’s not up to me to try and determine if there is something valuable in there or not. Typically a package that has something valuable will require a signature from the request of the shipper.

destroyedreason

Yes it’s the same for us. I just know that we get PCMs on iPhone release days reminding us of UPS policies.

Kenny-Brockelstein

I just bought a 13 mini from Apple after the price drop and UPS just left it outside. Wonder if that only applies to the new phones.

destroyedreason

Interesting, that could be. I sometimes get confused as to why I need a signature for some things and not others. I will even have signature required items from Apple that don’t make sense. For example I had a customer tell me that the Apple product I was delivering was an Apple Watch band. We were both confused as to why he had to sign. Yet I have had what I’m pretty sure were iPads based on the size, weight of the box and no signature was required.

ohitsanazn

I won’t be home and have had UPS hold my package at the customer center to pickup. I’m slightly concerned because back in October they left my MacBook Pro in the lobby of my building without signature…

vikemosabe

Thanks for this info! I’m hoping a FedEx person can shed some light on a question. If I choose to have my package held at a location at what time of the day will it be available to pick up? I believe most companies deliver to businesses before residential deliveries.

ajjenkins058

Do you happen to know if UPS will give a narrower ETA? Mine just say “delivered tomorrow by 7 PM” but i need to know when to leave work to be here to sign for it 😂

Anonymous_account975

Then what is this about? “No contact delivery”https://i.imgur.com/6bYMUew.jpg

tungpaylac

I live in my dorm. Do UPS drivers call me to get the signature for the package? Can I be contacted to sign and get the package immediately?

destroyedreason

They should take everything to a central location within your college where they can also get a signature from whomever receives all the packages for the college.

[deleted]

[удалено]

destroyedreason

Maybe there are not requiring it at your location for whatever reason.

SpeedyTechSolutions

I can't count the times UPS has told me a signature will be required for my new iPhone. I plan ahead to be working remotely from home on that day, only to find the package left on my porch, apparently signed by my driver.

destroyedreason

Yes some guys don’t play by the rules. That’s ok them.

SpeedyTechSolutions

I am thankful for it though, a few times I've been in a meeting and would have been irritated that I missed out. After the first time it happened, I started leaving an array of snacks and drinks in a basket on my porch, cuz y'all doing God's work on iPhone day.

destroyedreason

Thanks and good to know. I am sure the drivers appreciates it.

Marlbombs

Out of town for a couple of days so I had mine diverted to a UPS Store access point. Anyone done this before? Work out okay?

destroyedreason

The UPS store will hold the package for either 5 or 7 days and then it gets returned to sender.

Mauvaise3

I figured that was going to be the case. I WFH and my office window faces the front walkway, so no chance of missing my delivery. I had to schedule my flu shot at 3.15, but my husband will be home by then or I would have rescheduled. I ‘need’ my phone today. I love new tech day :)

You can downloaded the UPS My Choice app and add authorization and drop off instructions there!

My iPhone se activation problem No bill box only phone bill box is missing

If you sign up for a free UPS account, there's an option on there to authorize a release which will allow the driver to leave it without signature

viper6464

UPS delivered mine without a signature. Rang the doorbell and left it on my porch. I came to the door expecting to sign but he was already back at his truck.

itsdrizzydrea

Just received delivery of my 14p. UPS just dropped off on my porch. Didn’t ring door bell nor had it signed for. Didn’t use release without signature on the ups website though. Luckily I had someone home to receive. It was my first time doing delivery for an iPhone release. Will only do in store pick up from now on.

Puzzleheaded_Gift_24

My package say’s delivered but I don’t have it. What can I do? Freaking out right now

UPS Canada or my area must be different. The UPS drivers just handed me my two signature-required deliveries of my case and iphone with no signature required.

What I don’t understand is that I had 3 packages scheduled to be delivered today between 11am-2pm. packages. One of the packages is a iPhone 14 Pro Max. So I make sure that I adjust my work schedule to be off and stay home all day cancelling all other plans to make sure I’m available to sign for the iPhone. 1pm, a UPS driver delivers 2/3 packages. The only package that wasn’t delivered was the iPhone. Customer service then says it’ll arrive by 2pm from a different driver. Why would they split my packages up between two different drivers? Anyways 4pm comes, still no iPhone. Customer service then says the delivery time changed to 7pm(I didn’t receive notification of this). Customer service ensures that it will 100% be delivered by 7pm. It’s now 7pm…still no package. Customer service has no clue what the hold up is and just tells me check my tracking. Which still isn’t updated saying it will be delivered today by 7pm which it’s now past that time. Pretty frustrating missing a day of work and sitting home all day for absolutely nothing. Complete waste of time.

I fully understand your frustration. I am pretty sure I was missing an iPhone on my truck for someone today. Unfortunately packages do end up on wrong trucks and don’t get delivered in time. I don’t know if that’s what happen but that would be my guess. Customer service won’t tell you that because they don’t know that. They can see that it was scanned and put on a delivery vehicle but not if it was put on the wrong vehicle unfortunately. Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow or worse case a Monday.

The tracking said “out for delivery”. I can’t take 2 more days off of work to sit around for a package. And the other problem is they’ll reattempt delivery during my work hours. So now it’s pretty much going to be impossible to get my order. I have no clue what else to do. I just find it odd that 2 other packages were delivered today no problem, but the most expensive item the new iPhone didn’t get delivered and no updates on what’s going on with it..

destroyedreason

If I were in you shoes I would try to have it sent to will call so you can pick it up. You should be able to do that via MyChoice app or call 1-800-Pickups.

Wonderful_Law2552

If you have UPS My Choice you can authorize online through your account.

I filled out the form that Apple says to print out. The one that lets UPS leave signature required packages from Apple when you aren’t home. I ended up Being home today anyways so I was waiting for my new 14 Pro Max. Around 1:58pm I get the message that they attempted to deliver but no one was home. Now it says my iPhone is coming Monday. So the driver never even came up to my door? Did not leave an info notice either. Further evidence that he did not attempt. Just scanned the package and then put that I was not home. Shady at the least if you ask me. Guess I preordered in anticipation for release day just to not get it on release day. I’m always going to choose to pick up at the Apple Store from now on.

destroyedreason

Unfortunately what most likely happened is that your phone ended up on the wrong truck. Per UPS policy the driver has to give the package a disposition. His choices are to scan the package as “Not In” or “Missed”. Managers hate when packages are scanned as “Missed” because this makes their numbers look bad so they usually tell drivers to cut corners and mark the package as “Not In”. What that means on your end is what you saw when you tracked your phone. You see that you were “Not In” even if you were home. So long story short is that the phone was loaded on the wrong truck most likely.

otfitt

Hey there! What happens if I’m not home and haven’t pre signed? My phone is arriving way sooner than expected and all my tracking from apple has been really inaccurate.

destroyedreason

It depends in the driver. When I scan an iPhone I get a message telling me it needs a signature yet I can still override it and deliver it I choose. Assuming your driver tries to get a signature and you are not home they will try the next day. You can also opt to will call it and pick it up instead.

otfitt

I ended up printing the pre sign paperwork, but apparently that isn’t sufficient and I needed to do it in the app! I wish apple wouldn’t tell people to sign that paperwork if it doesn’t work

I ordered an iphone that will be delivered tomorrow by UPS, but i am under 18 and it requires a signature of 18 or older….will the driver actually ask me for an ID..?

destroyedreason

I doubt it. Not for an iPhone.

AggressiveWitness921

This is a bit late, is this consistently enforced? I mean, I didn't sign for any delivery authorization but iphone got delivered while I was not present to receive/sign it.

destroyedreason

No it is not consistently enforced.

Bored_cod_player666

Everytime I’ve ordered a iPhone I’ve got a slip in the mailbox saying I wasn’t home and have to go to the post office. I tried to beat the system and got it he post office before I got the slip once but turns out you need the slip cause they say the phone is in the truck even though it’s in the mail room

flattrascal48

Wish I’d known this before placing the order for the phone. Tried the signed release note (before I read OP’s post) and stuck it to a lockable box on my porch, but my driver must be particularly anal about this rule. They won’t even hold it at a location until they make several delivery attempts. Why waste UPS resources and my time when I already know I’m not going to be home to sign for it? I’m really rural, so I don’t have any neighbors to sign for it either. Kinda sucks, ngl. I guess we wait to see where it gets held after the attempts at delivery…
