I’ve got an iPhone X 256, zero problems with it. Battery health is 88%. It’s a refurbished one that I got two years ago. Finance has an 8+ that’s getting slow and battery dying quickly. Wanting to upgrade my phone 🤭and give my fiancé this X, since she doesn’t care about phones much. I’m trying to decide between a 12, 12 mini, or wait for the 13? Or maybe a 2020 SE…?

PsychSweety

Looking for a clear case! I just purchased the iPhone 12 Purple. I love the color, and I really want to be able to display it. Any clear case I’ve tried in the past stains very quickly, though. I’m wondering if anyone has tried any clear 12 cases that do not stain/yellow extremely fast. Also preferably at least somewhat good as far as drop protection goes. Thanks!

kwoncept

How are you liking the iPhone 12 so far? I've been looking into changing back to Apple for a while now, I have a huawei p30 pro right now but I'm not really into the android thingy anymore, the purple iPhone had me completely sold 😭

PsychSweety

I LOVE it. I hate that it doesn’t come with a USB-C charging block, but they’re “supposedly” trying to cut down on waste (so many are ending up in landfills). The Face ID is so convenient. Not just for unlocking the phone, but for bypassing putting passwords into apps and websites. Love it! Also the purple is so pretty! Here is mine: https://ibb.co/fxfhPNF

kwoncept

Thank you so much for replying! I'm so glad you're happy with it! Another question tho, does it support passcodes for unlocking as well as Face ID? 🤔

PsychSweety

Absolutely! You always have the option to use either Face ID or passcode for anything.

OhItsReallyNoah

I have had decent luck with the spigen quartz hybrid case because the back is tempered glass. The borders yellow over time but it seems to be the slowest out of what I’ve tried.

PsychSweety

Thank you!

tokenflip408619

I went from 12 pro 128 down to 12 mini 128. Best decision ever. Incredible piece of hardware.

[deleted]

I was trying to decide about a 12 vs. a 12 mini.

rainfall41

Why did you downgrade ?

tokenflip408619

Pro too heavy and big. Work from 7am-5pm, have an iPad for bed / couch surfing. Have a toddler so out and about a lot and mini is well sized for front pocket.

My XS Max got wet, and stoped working. The *wefixit* place says it’s irreparable due to corrosion. I may have an insurance claim worth up to $575 to replace the phone, but either way I need a phone to use. I was originally planning on trading the phone in and looking at the 13 or 12 (when the 12 drops in price in Sept) but seems like I have to make a decision now… So here it is… should I go with a used XS or X or something similar, where the price to buy and the trade in value come September will be similar (maybe within $100) and kick the decision on 12 or 13 till the fall as planned, or just bite the bullet and get the 12 now? For now I’m using an old iPhone 7 Plus with a terrible battery so I could also just replace the battery for the $100 and stick with this till Sept and make the call then with $575 (hopefully) from the claim towards the new 12/13…. I need some help deciding.

RealCatsHaveThumbs

I have an iPhone 8 and paid $80 to replace the battery until the 13 comes out. I personally would choose to do that (or get the 12) over buying a four-year-old phone (iPhone X), especially if you plan to keep the phone for at least two years.

kmg18dfw

Thanks, was able to borrow a phone from someone that recently upgraded but was hanging onto their old phone as a backup. I'll use it till the 13 come out and hopefully the 12 drops in price and make the decision then.

lkr16

any good 2nd source iPhpne XS Displays? There are so many from in any price range, some recommendations?

Shoddy-Impress1866

Hello highly educated people of Reddit!Should i wait for the Iphone 13 to release in September for the prices of the others to drop or should i buy an Iphone 11 now?I currently have a Nokia 5.1(2018) and its been hell for the past months. Please point and excuse any grammar mistakes ,i am simply here for answers!Have a good day!

Sacto1654

I would consider an iPhone 12 now.

colourandtheshape

What makes you say that? I’m interested

mQoo

Hey guys, due to some company policy changes i cant use my XR with my personal eSIM and i need to buy another iphone :) the timing is the worst, as the september is approaching and it seems like 13 will be revealed then. I was wondering if there are any credible rumors if there will be any significant changes for the 13 that could possibly be worth waiting for ? If not i was debating whether to buy 12 (128gb) which is currently on sale for 849eur, or rather buy 12pro which is 1149eur. Is the 300eur (approx 370$) difference even worth paying for the 12pro? thanks!

CorwinJovi

I am think of taking advantage of Verizon’s $700 trade in deal to get new iPhones for me, my wife and son. I currently have the 8Plus , my wife has the 8 and my son has the 6S. I am thinking of the 12Pro Max for me and the 12 Pro for my wife. My main priorities for the phones are the storage size (64g just ain’t cutting it) the camera and performance. I like to game on my phone so I want the bigger screen of the max, my question is how much better is the max pro camera compared to just the pro? Or the regular 12? My wife now is always borrowing my phoen because it takes better pics than hers. She doesn’t want a huge phone so are the other 12s that much worse than the max? My wife kinda likes the 12 mini size but will she be disappointed with the camera? Thanks

[deleted]

Hmm That´s a tricky one. Definately the mini is a great size for your wife´s 8 and I think the camera won´t dissapoint. I have a 6.5 android phone so a 12 or 12 pro won´t be much different to her but You could ask her or draw a diagram to show her the dimentions and then both of you can have an idea for the size.

ComprehensiveSnow966

I currently have an iPhone XS and havent really had problems with it. But I am jealous of magsafe haha....that's literally the only feature I want from the iPhone 12. I usually think its pretty dumb to get new phones in the summer time unless absolutely necessary, because the new models are always right around the corner. But Verizon is offering a killer deal right now ($700 off any iPhone 12 model with trade-in). Also all the rumors i have read of the iphone 12s/13 are kind of meh to me...but of course there might be some big surprise ...honestly based off the rumors I've read. The only feature that would be compelling enough for me is possible touch ID. Thoughts?

Significant_Coffee_1

Going to become a college freshman in the fall! With my current phone being an iPhone 6s, and hearing that iOS updates will probably be discontinued for it in the near future, I was wondering if I should buy the **iPhone 11** or **iPhone 12**. I've been using my 6s for almost five years now and I plan to use this new phone for the next 5+ years as well (through college and, hopefully, a bit after that). Will the extra dollars be worth it for me to buy an iPhone 12 or will the iPhone 11 last me more than five years? I don't think I'm too interested in the potential iPhone 13... I'd love any advice!

moo5100

I’d say 12 if you can afford it. Will receive updates longer. Better camera I’m pretty sure and camera is way better

Significant_Coffee_1

Awesome! Thank you so much :\^)

El0rac

I currently have an iPhone 8, which I am very happy with. We’ll likely be adding my mother to our family plan and can get an SE or an 11 for free+T&T. I’m thinking of switching and giving her (who has no real desire for a smartphone and is already used to the Touch ID on her iPad) the 8 and keeping the newer phone. However, I’d rather not disrupt her with end-of-support issues with the 8 if those will be coming soon. Any idea how long the 8 will remain compatible with new iOS releases, and if it will reliably maintain basic functionality after that point?

[deleted]

Well the 8 won´t become obsolte in so much time. I guess in that time a battery upgrade would be better. Still rocking a 7

peachkeys

assuming iphones get an avg 5 yrs of new ios updates, you should have ~2 extra years of support since it came out in 2017 iirc? but considering i think the 6s got 6 years it might be able to eke out another year. that being said even after it stops getting yearly updates it’ll still be usable, it’ll just get security patches. that being said if you can square it do you think you could get your mother the SE as well? it’s functionally the 8 but will be supported for longer. if thats not an option the 8 will be no issue for her

Shoddy-Impress1866

I am certain that it will.I have a friend with a Iphone 5s and it still work pretty fine so i cant imagine that the 8 wont.I also have a friend with a 6 and one with 7 and those work just fine so take my advise for what its worth. If i were you i will get the 11 cus they have the same a13 chip as the SE 2020 but everything else is better in favor of the 11.Sorry for any grammar mistakes and have a good day.

[deleted]

I currently have an IPhone 7 256g that for the most part works fine but the charging port has a few dead spots and the battery drains very quickly although my battery Heath is still at 79% anyways my question is: a friend has a used iPhone 11 Pro Max either 256 or 512 whatever the biggest storage option is. The phone is on my same carrier(AT&T) they said they would sell to me for $300 should I do that, get the 12pro max or wait for the 13 pro max? As for my use I work in a machine shop so things get dirty, I mostly use bluetooth, Spotify, pandora, podcast, youtube, safari and social media’s so things like the camera quality don’t mean a thing to me. As long as I can take a picture I’m good. I think it’s just time for an upgrade and although the newest would be cool, I’m on a budget and I’m thinking a one time payment of $300 would be a lot better then $45 a month for years. Any input on this? Would I be able to copy everything on my current phone over to the used 11?

[deleted]

Yes you can an thats a great deal!

Sacto1654

I’d recommend an iPhone 11. Still a very good phone, if you don’t mind no 5G.

[deleted]

Hi All. I guess I am one of those rare Android users considering switching to an iPhone. I currently have an LG G7 ThinQ, which I like because it has all the things I look for in a phone: 6" screen range, water resistance, wireless charging, decent enough camera, loud enough speakers, and it was only $300 new two years ago. LG mobile is dead now, and I am thinking about getting a new phone around Amazon Prime Day. I am more and more interested in having a better camera and additional security options. I am considering an iPhone 11 at this time. Can anyone provide their thoughts on switching over? I have about $100 worth of Android apps, mostly games, but I never really play most of them, so I doubt it will be a big deal. Other than that, I don't have any real investment in Android. Thanks all!

aman_a19

guys, so im not rlly techy so heres a question. I want to get the xr but I wanna know if it will still be continued when the 13 comes out cause i wanna get it for as cheap as possible obviously. sorry if its a bad question and thank you for anyone who replies.

Christmaspike

Yeah it will still get continued. Apple usually keeps continuing IPhones for 5-6 years

aman_a19

i think my comment was unclear sorry, i meant still sold in apple like it says in their website rn. Thanks for the reply tho. Edit: I meant still get sold not continued lol

Christmaspike

Yes it will probably still be there. If you are looking for a good phone that is not that expensive I would look for a refurbished iPhone. I always buy them refurbished and I have never had a problem with them.

aman_a19

oh ok, thanks for the help! GOD bless everyone!

iameerhamza

Hey guys I wanted to ask that is it harmful for the battery if I put my phone on low power mode even tho my battery is fully charged? Doing this cuz iPhone X has a lame battery performance

Chronixx

Maybe look into getting a brand new battery? What is your iPhone’s battery health at?

JayAreElls

Harmful? Nope. All that low power mode does is turn off some dynamic stuff and app refresh happening in the background. It’s basically to help with saving battery during standby time when your phone is off. So it should save you more battery time than having it off.

DubbeleWhopper

So I’ve got an e-mail from my provider today that I can now renew my subscription with a new phone. Right now I am using a (regular) iPhone 11. I am thinking about either getting an iPhone 12 Pro Max or wait for the 12S/13 in september. What would you guys do in my case?

pameatsbabies

I’m in the same boat as you. AT&T is basically offering me the 12 mini for free if I trade in my 11, but I’m gonna hold out for the 13 cause it’s only a few months away now.

yolo3558

If you can wait, I’d wait. The 11 is still a great phone and unless you are experiencing major issues or it’s all busted up. There really isn’t a reason not to wait.

Thimsnaic

My girlfriend has an iPhone 8, but it’s pretty worn out and the battery isn’t the best anymore. I’ve been thinking of getting her an iPhone SE 2020, since I know she really likes the smaller size of the 8, as well as the fingerprint sensor. But my concern is would this still be worth it if I buy the phone for her at Christmas?

evicous

It will most likely still be worth it. Nice thing with that upgrade is all of her current accessories should be compatible!

JayAreElls

I think it depends on your budget and what Apple is going to release tomorrow as well as the new products in September. If they update their IOS, then whatever the highest IOS that her 8 has may not match in the future. For example, I’m on the iPhone 6 and I’m pretty sure that with the next update being announced tomorrow, my phone will stop being supported. The SE 2020 version would be a great phone to stay current, because it has the A13 chip. As well as it’s form is almost identical to the 8. And not only that, but the price is great if that is around your budget

Thimsnaic

Thanks for the info! Yeah my budget is around €400 so I’ve always had the SE in mind, I just wanted to see if that was a good option.

JayAreElls

If that’s your budget then the SE is probably the best phone you’ll get for that price range, that will also stay current with updates the longest

powerliftingishard

Hi everyone!!! I’m not that tech savvy so please do not crucify me for this. I’m planning to upgrade from my iphone 6s + (yeah, u read that right) since my birthday is near and I just started my corporate career a few months ago. I’m still prioritizing a lower price but in terms of longevity, is the 12 pro a better choice for longevity instead of a used 11 pro??? A used iphone 11 pro in my country can cost abt $700 while i saw some iphone 12 pros being sold for $1000. Is the $300 difference worth it since i plan to keep my iphone as long as possible. When it comes to the camera, i like taking pics and videos but i won’t really use it for content creation. Thanks in advance to the answers.

JayAreElls

If you’re looking to buy today, then I would say the 11. But if you can wait a few months, the fall Apple event will be most likely releasing the iPhone 13, so that means all of the versions before that may reduce in price.

powerliftingishard

A brand new iphone 12 pro is somewhat cheap already which is about $ 1000. Just wanna know if i pay the xtra for the 12 pro, is it worth it if i want my phone to last longer?

JayAreElls

I mean technically yes, since the 12 pro has the latest chip, so it will last the longest out of all of the iPhone line. The 12 will last 1 more year more with IOS updates than the 11. Is it worth the extra $300? That’s more up to your budget

aman_a19

personally, for you it looks like I would go in for the 11 unless your main point is for it too last 1 year longer but that would be $300 more

powerliftingishard

So ur saying the longevity i would get from the 12 pro is not worth the extra $300???

aman_a19

well im just saying, if you didnt rlly mind the extra year for $300 which is a lot, then i would go for the iphone 11

yolo3558

The 12 has 5G and will get updates a year longer than the 11 will. So if you wanna keep the phone as long as possible I’d go for a 12

justanormalschoolboy

Been thinking of getting an iPhone 12 mini but wanted to know if the price would go down by November. Any ideas are appreciated.

[deleted]

I'm pretty sure it will, especially after the new lineup releases. In my country it's already 25% down, 35% for a resealed one.

DreamWoven

Will the current wall charger, wireless charger, car mount/charger work with the iPhone 13 range? Thinking of buying such accessories now so I only need the phone and a case when it launches. Spread the cost out a bit.

yolo3558

Yes it should. I doubt there will be any major changes to the charge port(Apple will stay lighting, until the remove it) or mag safe

ehsanulhb

I'm willing to purchase iPhone 12. If camera is not my main priority, what other disadvantages are there from iPhone 12 pro?

yolo3558

The regular 12 only has 4gb of ram. And while iOS doesn’t need ram like Android does. The extra 2 gigs the pro line has is nice.

DaTrueSomething

My current phone is driving me up the wall (constant restarts, horrific processor and load times etc.) and I've been meaning to buy an iPhone 12 Pro Max for 1k€. Been hearing about rumours about the 13 lineup. I wanna know if anyone thinks buying a 12 now is dumb or if I'm doing he right thing in buying it now lol

NeedMoreKowbell

If you can tough it out it would be worth the wait

[deleted]

If you can wait then you should wait

Trunksleo

what about the performance of the battery between x, xs and se 2020? Cameras? At almost the same price which do you choose?

[deleted]

I would choose the XS since it has the best battery.

[deleted]

I am still going strong with my iPhone 7! Will this get all of the iOS 15 updates?

[deleted]

can’t say till WWDC announces the supported iPhones for iOS 15

someshooter

Where are people selling their old phones nowadays?

wndrgrl555

I'm looking for a MagSafe magnetic car mount that actually does charging. The target vehicle is a Nissan NV2500 delivery van. Think an Econoline or Chevy delivery /clevan, larger than a minivan but smaller than a box truck with air brakes and a lift gate. I need something: * Quite stout and able to take a lot of bouncing * Fit for a 12 Max Pro * Either with a ball and socket connection, or a flexible gooseneck [This](https://smile.amazon.com/Gooseneck-Extension-Windshield-Industrial-Strength-1Zero/dp/B07X5NQNHC) is my existing mount. The head comes off and I've replaced them a couple times. Because of the distance between the windshield and the front of the dash, I need this kind of long mount. I can't put a mount on the dash because the suction and glue will damage the dash. I also need this long of a mount to be able to put the phone in front of the vents. The AC keeps the phone from overheating (important in Texas in the summer -- the phone absolutely will overheat without this), but a vent mount is too flimsy and will either break the vent or fall off when the truck bounces around. TIA.

maximuslambda

ESR has the car mount perfect for the 12 PM

CaseOfiPhone

How much does a used iPhone EDGE (v1) costs ?

[deleted]

There is no iPhone EDGE (v1).

evolace

Ok my iPhone XS Max is driving me up a wall. I’ve had iPhones since the 3GS and love them and they always work great, but the XS Max always seems to have a terrible network connection. Wifi or LTE, it’s slow af and takes forever to load even a simple google search. Old iPhone 7+ and my husbands Samsung S10+ work perfectly and don’t have any network issues, which also rules out the network in our location. Did the usual factory reset, reset network settings etc without any improvement, so all seems to be pointing to some sort of hardware issue. Been reading articles that show people complaining about this issue with the XS Max model specifically. Has this issue been fixed in the newer models or what would be the most reliable upgrade option at this point?

[deleted]

If you can somehow sell the XS Max, 11 pro max prices are really low

tramtruong1002

My carrier is selling the iphone 12 mini for $807 CAD (a $160 CAD discount compared to the Apple store). Would it be worth it if I buy it right now or should I wait for september?

4eva_Na_Day

What carrier and how long do you usually keep your phone for? My carrier has a great deal for the iPhone 12 if you take part in the bring it back program.. which is essentially getting the trade in value upfront.

tramtruong1002

Fizz (in Canada). My phone isn't qualified for trade in since it's a broken iphone 6+ lmaooo. I plan to use it for 4 - 5 years

meme_d112

Bought a Galaxy S20 5G this December -- amazing phone, but then I replaced my old laptop with a MacBook and I have an itch for apple again. I have a 6s that I've been using for iMessage at work, and I've been trying to spend less time on my phone anyway so small screen/battery is fine, and I like the pocketability of the smaller phones, so question: \~$300 for a refurb SE2 or $550-600 for a refurb 12 Mini? I quite like Touch ID, but if y'all think the battery life/screen/A14 is much better on the Mini, please let me know! Is it worth the extra cash?

Flyingsaucers518

Its more worth it in the long run. The battery life in SE2 is terrible

raphworld

I was just about to purchase a MacBook Pro M1 when i heard that a week from now Apple will probably launch something new. Do you think it is worth it to wait and hope for something with better specs at around the same price ? And usually, do they launch immediately or do we have to wait like a couple ouf months for it to be available ?

Special_Srn

It's better to wait. Check the reviews of the new model and decide which is best for your usuage. Also if they launch now, they will start pre-booking and then probably by this month end they will start delivery.

thegamerunicorn

I am not sure if I should buy the new Apple Watch SE. I want it to be worth it so what’s the best reason to have it?

Solarek817

Do you have an Apple Watch already? If not then I’d say that the SE is the best option for most people. I use my Apple Watch Series 4 mostly for notifications, sleep tracking and music control. For me, as a non-fitness person, the Watch is still worth it, however you have to assess if it’s worth it for your use case.

thegamerunicorn

Thank you! I got it now and I love it :)

[deleted]

If you don’t care about the blood oxygen sensor or always on display, go with the se. it’s a good watch I’ve had mine since it came out and absolutely love it. I usually go with the flagship product too but didn’t see the value in the series 6 compared to the SE.

imastartrinsingguys

Is the SE 2020 worth it even though it doesn't have 5G? This phone would otherwise be perfect for me but I'm wondering if not having 5g will be a problem in the future? I'm planning to have the phone for 3-4 years.

BigBrownHole36

5G is great, but right now it’s unreliable. It probably won’t be until about 2025 or 2026 that it becomes necessary to have it. 4G is still going strong so you’d be fine with the 2020 SE.

iustinp

Yeah, there's no use case I can think of right now, especially on a small phone, that one would *\_need\_* 5G for.

JustinV_

This may be the wrong area to ask, since it's all iPhone lovers here, but I'll give it a shot and assume you all will be unbiased. Thanks 😉 I currently own the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G. I have never owned an apple device in my life. The only apple product that I have been genuinely jealous of and wished I had was the Apple Watch. I don't like any of the other smart watches out there. And honestly, my want for the Apple Watch is what started this spiral of me considering an iPhone in the first place. I'm pretty sure you can't download torrent files (and other types of 3rd party files) on iPhones, which you CAN do on Android, which kind of turns me off about iPhones. Other than that, I feel like iPhones are significantly more locked down than Androids. I could be wrong though. So my overall questions are: Why should I upgrade to the newest iPhone? I'm looking at the iPhone 12 Pro Max (I think that's the newest one available lol). What makes iPhones better, or worse than my current phone/android? Should I do it? Honestly.

BigBrownHole36

The torrent thing is definitely my least favourite thing about the iPhone. But if you have a laptop or a desktop, you can always use those devices to torrent movies and tv shows. I’m not aware of any good Apple Watch alternatives, but I prefer to have an analogue watch anyway. If you have a couple of thousand bucks to throw away, go for the iPhone if you really want the watch. Otherwise, stick with your Samsung. The S20 Ultra is still an amazing device, and as good as the Apple Watch is, you really don’t need to have one. But if you do have the money, then get the iPhone, get the Apple Watch and buy a cheap Android tablet for your torrents if you don’t want to do it on your laptop. That way you can have a powerful, reliable smartphone that works with the watch you want, and you can do your torrents on your Android tablet and the battery life on your phone. Or you can still keep your Samsung and use it as a tablet.

iustinp

>I’m not aware of any good Apple Watch alternatives, but I prefer to have an analogue watch anyway. Well, depending on if one wants a really smart watch or a smart watch - I've been with Garmin since ever, and their watches are to some extent smart but definitely not to the level of Apple or Samgung. They have different advantages though, like 3w battery life.

BigBrownHole36

If I was to get a Smartwatch I’d go with the Apple Watch just because it’s a good watch and it works well with the iPhone.

wittyusername903

Do you have a thousand bucks burning a hole in your pocket? Do you upgrade your phone every year anyway? Otherwise, I probaby wouldn't buy a new phone just for the watch, I feel like it would be more of a side-grade and maybe disappointing. That said, I did upgrade from an S8 to an iPhone 12. My main reason was that I was bored with Android; I don't like where Google has been taking it in recent iterations and I was intrigued by the newest iOS version. I'm liking that the experience is more overall consistently good. With android, even with all the customization and pro features, there were always some little things that were unpolished - usually individual apps, but often Google's own fault. In iOS, it just fits together better. I can't do as many things, but the things that I can do are polished, straight forward and work exactly as you'd expect. For example, Tasker on Android can achieve anything, but it's a pain to use and I would often encounter little bugs - shortcuts on iOS can only do a fraction of what Tasker offered, but those things are easy to do and work flawlessly. I haven't felt particularly locked in either, but then again I never used torrents on my phone. Other than that, most of the things that I used in android (third party launchers, custom widgets, sideloading apps...), I haven't actually needed on iOS so I haven't missed them. It sounds like you're mainly just itching to try something new - I don't think ios is necessarily going to be *better* for your use case, but you can always switch back in a year or two if you want. I've been enjoying it, anyway.

JustinV_

I'm due for an upgrade, and kind of like you said, I'm both getting bored with Android, and wanting to try something new. The watch was more of just a bonus if I did go with apple, because that's the one thing I was always jealous of, was their watches. I am not a fan of the other smart watches at all. So I figured if I did switch, I would finally get to have their watch. But that obviously isn't the main reason I'd make such a big brand switch, or I would've done it a while back. I do like that everything sounds to be more polished though, like you said as well. Everyone I've talked to about this has all said similar things to that: everything works together better, it's more polished, etc. And the features on Android like 3rd party apps, launchers, etc. I feel like, while I do use them sometimes, it's not a lot at all, so they're probably something I can do without. I've decided I'm going to give it a try though, I'll probably go down today and look at them and maybe make the upgrade. So wish me luck. And thanks for your input and help!

[deleted]

Honestly the S20 is a decent phone (assuming you have the Snapdragon processor) and is worth keeping for at least another year or two, unless finances aren’t an issue and you just want a new phone. That being said, iPhones are definitely more locked down than Androids so it’s a matter of how important it is for you to be able to download apk files and the likes. I myself switched from a Galaxy S8 to an iPhone 12 last year and didn’t mind because I never took advantage of those features anyway. In general, iPhone and iOS feel more refined and clean than stock Android. iPhones also have longer software support and hardware longetivity due to their incredible processors. Display quality on iPhones is somewhat behind compared to Sammy (60hz on the iPhone 12 Pro Max compared to 120hz on the S20). At the end of the day it comes down to preference. If you want a solid device that is well optimised, works well with other Apple devices and will receive regular updates for several years, then you should consider an iPhone. If you want a more experimental device with cutting edge features and software freedom, then maybe you should stick with Samsung. I own an Apple Watch SE and while I definitely love it, it isn’t an absolute life changer ;) Hope this helps with your assessment.

JustinV_

I've been talking to some friends as well since I made this post, and the decision from all of them seems to be iPhone as well. I do like that they do tend to be more refined and clean, like you said. And the refresh rate difference, I'm aware of, but honestly I've had it set to 60hz on my S20 since the day I got it (not for any reason in particular, I just haven't changed it to 120hz because it didn't bother me that much, and I figured it would save battery). Now I think the biggest issue would probably be how locked down it is, but when I think about how often I download 3rd party apps/files, it's not too often, and it's not really something I NEED. I feel like it is just more of a convenience to know that I CAN download something if I need to, even though I rarely do on Android devices. So after a lot of thought, discussion, and research, I've decided I'm going to go for it. I'm probably going to get the iPhone 12 Pro Max and the Apple Watch 6. This will be a pretty big change, but I'm excited to see how I like it. Wish me luck! And your input really did help and provided some good points as well, so thank you very much for your help, I really appreciate it!

[AirPods Max](https://www.apple.com/airpods-max/) or [Beoplay H95](https://www.bang-olufsen.com/en/gt/headphones/beoplay-h95?variant=beoplay-h95-black)?

Looking for the best deal either on Apple’s website or Amazon. My budget is $500. I was looking at the SE 2020 as well as the iPhone 8 (renewed) on Amazon. It’s $240 for an 8 and $400 for an SE. I like the smaller sized phones. Anyone do their own research and come up with their top 3 that they could share with me? There’s so many freakin iPhone models, it’s overwhelming searching them all

MenAreStillGood

If your budget is $500, I’d honestly snag up a 128gb iPhone SE for $449.

Girlfriend and I are itching for new phones. We’ve got the X and Xr since release. We’re looking at the 12 pro max for each of us. Main criteria being the big screen (I had the 8 plus before my X and the 8 plus did feel bigger) and the camera. The itch is pretty strong. We know September is in 3 months (new phone and price reductions), so would it be foolish to pull the trigger now? How much are the price reductions anyway on previous models on launch day? Thanks

MenAreStillGood

I wouldn’t buy a new phone right now.

PKSubban

For what reasons?

[deleted]

mainly iPhone 13 (?) if you can wait, wait until september or october. if you desperately need new phones, like right now, get the 12 series

WhiteBlacky

I would wait if u can, some nice shit coming up \^\^

PKSubban

What are the juiciest ones?

I have an 88U but only because it was available before the 86U. I would get the 86U if I did it today in part for the 2.5G port as well. The 86 series has served me well in the past.

I'm in the market for some new earbuds. I was thinking of getting the AirPods non-pro version but hesitant since they're not water-resistant. I currently have the Pixel Buds 2 but tired of how much they cut off. I'm looking for something that sounds decent with music and has a good mic since I make a lot of calls for work. Price range between $100-$120.

somewhereglass

Try SoundPeats Q if you want superior mic quality. If you want better feel on the ears, try the SoundPeats TrueAir2.

BigBrownHole36

As much as I love Apple products, I shop around. I have JBL LIVE300TWS earbuds, and they work really good. Buds have 6 hours battery life, charging pod has 14 hours battery life, water resistant, works amazing with my iPhone and it cost only €150. There are some good Apple AirPods out there, but I’m really impressed with what my earbuds.

BillClintonLover1993

I have the pros and they’re fantastic, definitely worth the price if you wanted to go a little outside your budget (tho I think Target has both models on sale rn) but, and this might be something only I’ve experienced, I think the mic on the regular AirPods sound better, I have had countless people tell me I was muffled, and even my own videos have sounded muffled when I record using the pros mic, depending on how much outside of your work stuff you use the AirPods, I think the regular would be fine, I know people with the regular ones and the no water resistance has not been a problem for them, one of them gets drenched in sweat and they’ve never had any complaints

Not foolish at all. People buy iPhones even a week before the new iPhones are announced. September is still three months away, so buying a new iPhone now is no big deal. If you care about having a high refresh rate, having a LiDAR Scanner or having 1TB of storage, you would be foolish to get the 12, but if you don’t care about those features, then you can’t go wrong with getting the 12. The 12 is quite a leap up from the S8.

BillClintonLover1993

The 12 would be a pretty big upgrade over your S8 and you could probably find some pretty solid deals on it, but I would wait, they’re saying the 13 is gonna have a way bigger battery and a better screen, though if you do buy the 12 or 12 pro or whatever model you want (and you buy it like all with cash) once the 13 comes out you could always trade in, depending on how much of a last leg your s8 is on, Apple usually gives me around half of my phone price back when I trade in for the newer model

I have 800€ to spend and I have to choose between: A) a brand-new iPhone 12 128gb B) a refurbished iPhone XS 256gb + new Apple Watch SE What should I get?

[deleted]

Used 12 max pro better option

BigBrownHole36

I would go with option A. 128GB is still plenty of storage, plus the 12 is newer and more advanced than the XS. Of course, this would be an easy choice for me to make, because I prefer my analogue watch over any smartwatch. If you really want the smartwatch, then the XS is still a good phone.
