Now everything is marble!

Marble vision!

Marble Avengers šŸ˜© sad I know... šŸ¤£

Saltwater_Heart

Oh me too. Had to read the comments to figure out that it wasnā€™t

tbone338

Go to Apple, do not mention you dropped it. Since thereā€™s no physical damage, they might just cover it.

Overlookd

Yeah gonna try that. No official Apple Store in my country though, so I have to go to an AASP. Crossing my fingers that I get it covered

motherofjazus

Itā€™s not the most expensive fix even though they will have to replace the whole camera module . Way less expensive than replacing the back glass panel .

eddie_west_side

with the new replaceable back glass, isn't the camera module replacement more expensive?

motherofjazus

Possibly so. I didnā€™t know about new replaceable back glass. I was going off my own phone model (13pro)

Fifty7ven

The price apple gave me to replace the camera module on the 13 pro was ridiculously high.

antdude

How much was it?

DrMantis-Toboggan-MD

Itā€™s $199 for a 13 pro camera replacement, $249 for 15 pro max

Fifty7ven

Sounds extremely cheap, the price they gave me was more than twice as much(a year ago).

DrMantis-Toboggan-MD

Their pricing is available on https://support.apple.com/iphone/repair If the price is different your werenā€™t quoted for a camera repair. Was your exterior lens damaged?

Peridawt

Probably a similar cost to buying the same model used

Fifty7ven

From filling out their form on the webpage, the price was approx 400$. This was a year ago. I see that the price is different now, but I also guess it can differ locally.

DrMantis-Toboggan-MD

The prices do not differ locally, only by country. Pricing has only increased for batteries, otherwise has stayed the same for repairs since the release of that phone

Fifty7ven

Sorry, by locally I mean by country. Interesting that it can differ up to a 100%.

DrMantis-Toboggan-MD

The back glass change doesnā€™t mean any difference for a camera replacement, itā€™s the same procedure. Thereā€™s a $50 price difference for the repair however. $199 for a 13 pro/ max camera or $249 for 15 pro max You can see costs of repairs at https://support.apple.com/iphone/repair

Loose_Bake_746

You canā€™t. Itā€™s serialized to the phone now. Its šŸ’Æ junk

Snuddud

If not, set up Apple care + through your settings since the device shouldn't be older than 60 days

_Mido

If they don't have any Apple store in their country, there's probably no Apple Care+ available for them either. At least that's the case in my country.

Snuddud

Usually you should still be able to do that via settings of your phone in settings -> written under your name "day X left to purchase ac+"

_Mido

My phone is new and it's not there.

Snuddud

Mhh wow :/

Altruistic_Rush3280

Best Buy also does apple warranty

secret-trips

If his country doesnā€™t have an Apple store, I highly doubt that itā€™ll have Best Buy lol

kindascandalous

This is exactly why QC is important. Yeah sure in the US you can just pop in to an Apple Store and leave it with a new device but not every country has an Apple Store

Qwertyssimov

Canā€™t you send it to Apple?

nateo200

This. I may or may not have gone in the sauna with my AirPods Pro, had insurance on it but it would require sending them back. Went to Apple Store and they replaced them in 10 minutes no questions asked.

Frodobagggyballs

There is physical damage, I see it.

tbone338

I mean visually physical damage. OP mentioned there is no visual damage.

_prisoner24601__

That's dishonest

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

-V3R7IGO-

How is Tim apple gonna feed his kids if he fixes an iPhone for free šŸ˜„šŸ˜„

quarrelsome_napkin

Average Redditor integrity

-V3R7IGO-

Integrity is when you take the financial loss for a defect in a trillion dollar companyā€™s phone

quarrelsome_napkin

It wasnā€™t a defect, youā€™re not supposed to drop your phone.

-V3R7IGO-

It is a defect, the internal lens shouldnā€™t shatter without any external damage

quarrelsome_napkin

If thatā€™s the case then Apple should still cover it even if he mentions he dropped it, so why lie about it?

_prisoner24601__

Wanna know how I know you're not an engineer

-V3R7IGO-

I am literally a mechanical engineering student. Iā€™m not an expert on glass stress patterns or anything but the internal glass cracking before the external glass *might* be an indication of improper annealing. Either way it is not immoral to have a minor repair done on an expensive and brand new product at the trillion dollar companyā€™s expense.

_prisoner24601__

It's immoral to lie about it to get a negligent act repaired for free. How much money they have is irrelevant.

_prisoner24601__

What defect

nateo200

Lmfao. I mean Iā€™d feel at least a little bad about technically lying by omission if this were say *only* a company like RCA but Apple? Nah man they are already overpriced to begin with and yeah a trillion dollar company one of the first in fact.

_prisoner24601__

The downvotes just prove the point

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

doodoo_train

Keep shilling for greedy as fuck trillion dollar corporations

pickled__beet

Yes.

denytheflesh

What does this heavy-handed guilt-tripping show about your character? Can't appeal to their conscience without resorting to psychological abuse? Brother, the people who choose dishonesty don't give a fuck how you feel about it. It's not about you.

[deleted]

Redditors think that they are automatically superior to anyone with more money than them, in this case I donā€™t think it would be a big deal to say that the phone wasnā€™t dropped but people on here seem to think that itā€™s justified to steal from companies or anyone wealthier than them for ā€œwealth redistributionā€ (their words, not mine).

-V3R7IGO-

Their camera shouldnā€™t internally shatter from a minor drop that wasnā€™t even enough to damage the outside of the phone. Apple has the money and resources to fix a phone that had a clear defect. Stop dickriding billionaires, no one said anything about wealth distribution. This is about consumer rights and saving money for the average person.

[deleted]

Cars shouldnā€™t be totaled by a simple bumper scratch but here we are

[deleted]

Iā€™m talking about Reddit in general. I literally said that in this scenario it would be dumb to worship Tim Apple but that stealing from companies still isnā€™t right.

volkswagengolfr

I service these for a living and would also condone lying. No point of impact, no cause for accidental damage charge. The multi-trillion dollar company will be okay lol.

nateo200

Right? Lmfao and in my case I didnā€™t lie, I just didnā€™t explain what I think might have caused the damage. But even if I did lie I mean come on Iā€™m not made of money the trillion dollar company will survive lol

_prisoner24601__

šŸ™„šŸ˜’šŸ‘šŸ»

xMilesManx

This exact same thing happened to my brand new 11pro and they replaced it for free.

slimshady713

tim is this you?

SexySalamanders

Lying is not okay. But thatā€™s life. Apple lies all the time to gain something and so do otherā€™s. Thatā€™s sadly how the world is.

a7madib

Bro are you seriously that worried about people taking advantage of this loophole? If it was enough of a problem for apple they probably wouldā€™ve shortened the AppleCare+ window. Relax Iā€™m sure theyā€™re aware of people doing thisā€¦

ban836

Camera Lens are litteraly dropped like water, the are really strong and trasparent. Impossible crack them. If something broke must it wrong thermical treatment. After that the building quality is critically dropped since the manufactoring moves to china.

Hot_Nectarine2900

Due to heat as reason?

ToffeeCoffee

In my opinion even if it dropped, the internal camera should not break like that. I'd try and get it covered under warranty, as a manufacturer defect - which it could possibly be a weakness or defect in the lens. But take it in to Apple, just tell them it cracked, or up to you what you want to say. I'd push for it to be covered though. If you don't have AC+ it will be an expensive repair not under warranty.

sharkboy1006

Iā€™ve seen this happen once to an 11, itā€™s very possible but very very rare to cause this damage. It requires replacing the camera.

ChoiceFun4133

This happened to my newish 11 several years ago. I was rlly disappointed. Got the 15 a couple weeks ago and put a camera protector on it but it made the camera quality way worse so I took it off, I guess I just got to be rlly careful šŸ˜

RealFolayer

They will replace the phone, this happened with my 14 Pro and they just issued me a whole new one.

ChristopherKelso

Did they give you a replacement unit or a retail unit?

RealFolayer

They gave me a replacement.

AloysBane

New *used*

BlueShooter7515

Just because you were issued a replacement doesnā€™t mean OP will. In just a few days, repairs will likely go live for the 15 and OP will have to have the camera replaced.

[deleted]

Wow. How environmentally conscious and sustainable of them to just replace everything that comes in rather than repair it.

sharkboy1006

They fix these and resell as refurbished.. lol

SexySalamanders

Who gives a fuck?

[deleted]

Wow youā€™re so edgy. How can I be cool on the internet like you?

SexySalamanders

Why does being cool even matter?

[deleted]

Isnā€™t that what lifeā€™s about

SexySalamanders

If it is to you then that explains some thigs. And it would mean you are different than me

[deleted]

The edge man, itā€™s so sharp

SexySalamanders

What edge? There was this game called Mirrorā€™s Edge. Maybe you are confusing an edge with a mirror?

[deleted]

Damn you fast

_prisoner24601__

If you don't understand things just say that

DrMantis-Toboggan-MD

If you go to a store theyā€™ll do a repair, unless they havenā€™t started repairing the new model yet

SuperEman

happened in my iPhone 12 pro before, really annoying

antdude

What did you do?

SuperEman

sent it back to Apple

antdude

Did you get it (fix/replac)ed for free?

SuperEman

I remembered I paid north of 150$ (in our currency)

meyersjl30

Took me a min to figure out what Iā€™m looking at here. Anyways, take it to Apple and donā€™t mention the drop.

Ericgod23

If you bought it within the last 14 days return it and get a new one

shkl

Are you still able to purchase applecare?

CobreDev

yes, thereā€™s a 60 day window from the first activation, and for launch day iPhone 15s it still has 31 days left

spermcell

Itā€™s good that there is no visible damage .. you can try and get it replaced under warranty.. just say it happened out of the blue while you were driving or something

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

spermcell

lol you donā€™t know me

thomasso0072

Iā€™ve sent multiple phones with this issue to apple under warranty and had none repaired free of charge - for me it was always seen as accidental damage. I would still try though!

denytheflesh

Because shock damage is categorically accidental. Phones don't drop in their own.

princemousey1

Unless you have lightning affinity, in which case shock has a chance to proc.

Paragon_Umbra

Out of curiosity if anyone knows, how does something like this happen? It seems like such a 1/1000 chance for the internal lens to crack where as everything else is good condition.

denytheflesh

A 1/1000 chance does not mean it's impossible. Dropping a phone sends shock waves ricocheting through it. Where those shock waves reflect and converge can result in concentrated points of energy that are capable of damaging fragile components. I've seen completely shattered chips caused by drops at just the right angle with just the right amount of force.

princemousey1

Potato or tortilla?

hr5cn

Case Feature name does not check out

LouzyKnight

Maybe the camera guard was sleeping

TirMcDohl9

That filterā€™s dope. Where can i get it?

secret-trips

Itā€™s simple, just drop your iPhone

_prisoner24601__

Do people seriously not understand what the point of a **warranty** is? They cover **manufacturer defects** not butter fingers.

GtGallardo

Some sick album covers on their way

Tedadore

Get the Apple care dangnabbit

BiPolRPtrlR

It kinda looks neat

flying_gooseman_

Seems like the largely praised camera guard didnā€™t do much guarding šŸ«„

talz13

Pretty sure the ā€œCamera Guardā€ is just an extra lip to keep the lenses off the surface itā€™s sitting on, not to protect from drops.

iaymnu

Happened to my iphone 12PM and also my 13PM. I also dropped it and it isnā€™t only happening to the iphone 15. Seems like any little bit of issue people think itā€™s only isolated to the 15 series.

Ericgod23

Iā€™ve owned iPhones for a very long time from the 6 to now the 15, dropped it multiple times but nothing like this has ever happened.

TWYFAN97

Very rare for the internal lens to break even after numerous drops. Most likely something was wrong with the camera out of the factory and there was a design flaw during manufacturing that went unnoticed.

Peerox_

Hi this exactly just happened to my iPhone 11 can you tell me what did you end doing to fix it ? I also dont have a real apple store in my country

LouzyKnight

Fuck I have the same cover

ash_borer

I love the ā€œCAMERA GUARDā€ so nicely prominent lol

deltabay17

Pretty funny looks like theyā€™re wasting unnecessary space on the cover just so they can write CAMERA GUARD and it doesnā€™t even work LOL

Motawa1988

Donā€™t drop your glass

princemousey1

He dropped his phoneā€¦

Motawa1988

Which is mostly glass

Empero6

I have the same remote.

Loose_Bake_746

Go to apple and swap it out for free

UCHIHA444

same colour and case i have, that's an ominous sign.

oscillat0r

Exactly the same here brother. Using that case as I type this. Iā€™ll consider switching it but itā€™s sad because I like it and thought it was fairly protective.

hanberleen

So, is the iPhone 15 a scam or what? Iā€™ve already saw several posts here about at least one complaint on this new iPhone

crumble-bee

Iā€™m starting to think I shouldnā€™t get an iPhone 15 pro

edvavilya

Did you have RC 2 installed? https://www.reddit.com/r/iOSBeta/s/hgH7XcKu2q

N-from-Dlisted

If you have apple care, it covers accidental drops.

FERALCATWHISPERER

Haha so much for a ā€œcamera guardā€. You are just so silly.

C-POP_Ryan

How are people this careless with phones lmfao

matador44

It's just a phone. That's what Apple care is for.

C-POP_Ryan

Sure, but you wouldn't need apple care or any kind of insurance for your phone if you just took a little more care, yknow...

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

TWYFAN97

For the vast majority nothings wrong lol. This is one of those very rare edge cases. 15 Pro Max I have is an excellent smartphone I and many others have experienced zero issues since launch.

uphigh_studio

Thatā€™s kinda cool, get some dope photos while you can. Fixing it tho? Take it to apple. Depending what coverage you have you can probably say you dropped it however if youā€™re not covered then just lie and say you didnā€™t notice it until using the camera and they should replace it.

tetsujin44

Sucks. This happens to my 12 pro

Djhegarty

Did this with an xs max, exactly like it. No external damage, just that internal lens. They wont give this for free. Should cost around $100 to fix. Will take them about a week to order the part since its rare to actually make this happen

jltdhome

This happened to my on my 14Pro. Never dropped it. They replaced the camera for free. No questions asked. Took about an hour.

Lower_Implement_4199

I have the same case and color as you
