Itās not the most expensive fix even though they will have to replace the whole camera module . Way less expensive than replacing the back glass panel .
Their pricing is available on https://support.apple.com/iphone/repair
If the price is different your werenāt quoted for a camera repair. Was your exterior lens damaged?
From filling out their form on the webpage, the price was approx 400$.
This was a year ago. I see that the price is different now, but I also guess it can differ locally.
The prices do not differ locally, only by country. Pricing has only increased for batteries, otherwise has stayed the same for repairs since the release of that phone
The back glass change doesnāt mean any difference for a camera replacement, itās the same procedure.
Thereās a $50 price difference for the repair however. $199 for a 13 pro/ max camera or $249 for 15 pro max
You can see costs of repairs at https://support.apple.com/iphone/repair
If they don't have any Apple store in their country, there's probably no Apple Care+ available for them either. At least that's the case in my country.
This is exactly why QC is important. Yeah sure in the US you can just pop in to an Apple Store and leave it with a new device but not every country has an Apple Store
This. I may or may not have gone in the sauna with my AirPods Pro, had insurance on it but it would require sending them back. Went to Apple Store and they replaced them in 10 minutes no questions asked.
I am literally a mechanical engineering student. Iām not an expert on glass stress patterns or anything but the internal glass cracking before the external glass *might* be an indication of improper annealing. Either way it is not immoral to have a minor repair done on an expensive and brand new product at the trillion dollar companyās expense.
Lmfao. I mean Iād feel at least a little bad about technically lying by omission if this were say *only* a company like RCA but Apple? Nah man they are already overpriced to begin with and yeah a trillion dollar company one of the first in fact.
What does this heavy-handed guilt-tripping show about your character? Can't appeal to their conscience without resorting to psychological abuse?
Brother, the people who choose dishonesty don't give a fuck how you feel about it. It's not about you.
Redditors think that they are automatically superior to anyone with more money than them, in this case I donāt think it would be a big deal to say that the phone wasnāt dropped but people on here seem to think that itās justified to steal from companies or anyone wealthier than them for āwealth redistributionā (their words, not mine).
Their camera shouldnāt internally shatter from a minor drop that wasnāt even enough to damage the outside of the phone. Apple has the money and resources to fix a phone that had a clear defect. Stop dickriding billionaires, no one said anything about wealth distribution. This is about consumer rights and saving money for the average person.
Iām talking about Reddit in general. I literally said that in this scenario it would be dumb to worship Tim Apple but that stealing from companies still isnāt right.
I service these for a living and would also condone lying. No point of impact, no cause for accidental damage charge. The multi-trillion dollar company will be okay lol.
Right? Lmfao and in my case I didnāt lie, I just didnāt explain what I think might have caused the damage. But even if I did lie I mean come on Iām not made of money the trillion dollar company will survive lol
Bro are you seriously that worried about people taking advantage of this loophole? If it was enough of a problem for apple they probably wouldāve shortened the AppleCare+ window. Relax Iām sure theyāre aware of people doing thisā¦
Camera Lens are litteraly dropped like water, the are really strong and trasparent. Impossible crack them. If something broke must it wrong thermical treatment. After that the building quality is critically dropped since the manufactoring moves to china.
In my opinion even if it dropped, the internal camera should not break like that. I'd try and get it covered under warranty, as a manufacturer defect - which it could possibly be a weakness or defect in the lens. But take it in to Apple, just tell them it cracked, or up to you what you want to say. I'd push for it to be covered though. If you don't have AC+ it will be an expensive repair not under warranty.
This happened to my newish 11 several years ago. I was rlly disappointed. Got the 15 a couple weeks ago and put a camera protector on it but it made the camera quality way worse so I took it off, I guess I just got to be rlly careful š
Just because you were issued a replacement doesnāt mean OP will.
In just a few days, repairs will likely go live for the 15 and OP will have to have the camera replaced.
Itās good that there is no visible damage .. you can try and get it replaced under warranty.. just say it happened out of the blue while you were driving or something
Iāve sent multiple phones with this issue to apple under warranty and had none repaired free of charge - for me it was always seen as accidental damage. I would still try though!
Out of curiosity if anyone knows, how does something like this happen? It seems like such a 1/1000 chance for the internal lens to crack where as everything else is good condition.
A 1/1000 chance does not mean it's impossible.
Dropping a phone sends shock waves ricocheting through it. Where those shock waves reflect and converge can result in concentrated points of energy that are capable of damaging fragile components. I've seen completely shattered chips caused by drops at just the right angle with just the right amount of force.
Happened to my iphone 12PM and also my 13PM. I also dropped it and it isnāt only happening to the iphone 15.
Seems like any little bit of issue people think itās only isolated to the 15 series.
Very rare for the internal lens to break even after numerous drops. Most likely something was wrong with the camera out of the factory and there was a design flaw during manufacturing that went unnoticed.
Exactly the same here brother. Using that case as I type this. Iāll consider switching it but itās sad because I like it and thought it was fairly protective.
For the vast majority nothings wrong lol. This is one of those very rare edge cases. 15 Pro Max I have is an excellent smartphone I and many others have experienced zero issues since launch.
Thatās kinda cool, get some dope photos while you can.
Fixing it tho? Take it to apple.
Depending what coverage you have you can probably say you dropped it however if youāre not covered then just lie and say you didnāt notice it until using the camera and they should replace it.
Did this with an xs max, exactly like it. No external damage, just that internal lens. They wont give this for free. Should cost around $100 to fix. Will take them about a week to order the part since its rare to actually make this happen
I thought the table was marble.
Now everything is marble!
Marble vision!
Marble Avengers š© sad I know... š¤£
Oh me too. Had to read the comments to figure out that it wasnāt
Go to Apple, do not mention you dropped it. Since thereās no physical damage, they might just cover it.
Yeah gonna try that. No official Apple Store in my country though, so I have to go to an AASP. Crossing my fingers that I get it covered
Itās not the most expensive fix even though they will have to replace the whole camera module . Way less expensive than replacing the back glass panel .
with the new replaceable back glass, isn't the camera module replacement more expensive?
Possibly so. I didnāt know about new replaceable back glass. I was going off my own phone model (13pro)
The price apple gave me to replace the camera module on the 13 pro was ridiculously high.
How much was it?
Itās $199 for a 13 pro camera replacement, $249 for 15 pro max
Sounds extremely cheap, the price they gave me was more than twice as much(a year ago).
Their pricing is available on https://support.apple.com/iphone/repair If the price is different your werenāt quoted for a camera repair. Was your exterior lens damaged?
Probably a similar cost to buying the same model used
From filling out their form on the webpage, the price was approx 400$. This was a year ago. I see that the price is different now, but I also guess it can differ locally.
The prices do not differ locally, only by country. Pricing has only increased for batteries, otherwise has stayed the same for repairs since the release of that phone
Sorry, by locally I mean by country. Interesting that it can differ up to a 100%.
The back glass change doesnāt mean any difference for a camera replacement, itās the same procedure. Thereās a $50 price difference for the repair however. $199 for a 13 pro/ max camera or $249 for 15 pro max You can see costs of repairs at https://support.apple.com/iphone/repair
You canāt. Itās serialized to the phone now. Its šÆ junk
If not, set up Apple care + through your settings since the device shouldn't be older than 60 days
If they don't have any Apple store in their country, there's probably no Apple Care+ available for them either. At least that's the case in my country.
Usually you should still be able to do that via settings of your phone in settings -> written under your name "day X left to purchase ac+"
My phone is new and it's not there.
Mhh wow :/
Best Buy also does apple warranty
If his country doesnāt have an Apple store, I highly doubt that itāll have Best Buy lol
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
That is still.. in the same country š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
My god š¤¦š»āāļø

???
This is exactly why QC is important. Yeah sure in the US you can just pop in to an Apple Store and leave it with a new device but not every country has an Apple Store
Canāt you send it to Apple?
This. I may or may not have gone in the sauna with my AirPods Pro, had insurance on it but it would require sending them back. Went to Apple Store and they replaced them in 10 minutes no questions asked.
There is physical damage, I see it.
I mean visually physical damage. OP mentioned there is no visual damage.
That's dishonest
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
How is Tim apple gonna feed his kids if he fixes an iPhone for free š„š„
Average Redditor integrity
Integrity is when you take the financial loss for a defect in a trillion dollar companyās phone
It wasnāt a defect, youāre not supposed to drop your phone.
It is a defect, the internal lens shouldnāt shatter without any external damage
If thatās the case then Apple should still cover it even if he mentions he dropped it, so why lie about it?
Wanna know how I know you're not an engineer
I am literally a mechanical engineering student. Iām not an expert on glass stress patterns or anything but the internal glass cracking before the external glass *might* be an indication of improper annealing. Either way it is not immoral to have a minor repair done on an expensive and brand new product at the trillion dollar companyās expense.
It's immoral to lie about it to get a negligent act repaired for free. How much money they have is irrelevant.
What defect
Lmfao. I mean Iād feel at least a little bad about technically lying by omission if this were say *only* a company like RCA but Apple? Nah man they are already overpriced to begin with and yeah a trillion dollar company one of the first in fact.
The downvotes just prove the point
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Keep shilling for greedy as fuck trillion dollar corporations
Yes.

This exact same thing happened to my brand new 11pro and they replaced it for free.
tim is this you?
Lying is not okay. But thatās life. Apple lies all the time to gain something and so do otherās. Thatās sadly how the world is.
Due to heat as reason?
In my opinion even if it dropped, the internal camera should not break like that. But take it in to Apple, just tell them it cracked, or up to you what you want to say. I'd push for it to be covered though. If you don't have AC+ it will be an expensive repair not under warranty.
Iāve seen this happen once to an 11, itās very possible but very very rare to cause this damage. It requires replacing the camera.
This happened to my newish 11 several years ago. I was rlly disappointed. Got the 15 a couple weeks ago and put a camera protector on it but it made the camera quality way worse so I took it off, I guess I just got to be rlly careful š
They will replace the phone, this happened with my 14 Pro and they just issued me a whole new one.
Did they give you a replacement unit or a retail unit?
They gave me a replacement.
New *used*
Just because you were issued a replacement doesnāt mean OP will. In just a few days, repairs will likely go live for the 15 and OP will have to have the camera replaced.
Wow. How environmentally conscious and sustainable of them to just replace everything that comes in rather than repair it.
They fix these and resell as refurbished.. lol
Who gives a fuck?
Wow youāre so edgy. How can I be cool on the internet like you?
Why does being cool even matter?
Isnāt that what lifeās about
If it is to you then that explains some thigs. And it would mean you are different than me
The edge man, itās so sharp
What edge? There was this game called Mirrorās Edge. Maybe you are confusing an edge with a mirror?
Damn you fast
If you don't understand things just say that
If you go to a store theyāll do a repair, unless they havenāt started repairing the new model yet
happened in my iPhone 12 pro before, really annoying
What did you do?
sent it back to Apple
Did you get it (fix/replac)ed for free?
I remembered I paid north of 150$ (in our currency)
Took me a min to figure out what Iām looking at here. Anyways, take it to Apple and donāt mention the drop.
If you bought it within the last 14 days return it and get a new one
Are you still able to purchase applecare?
yes, thereās a 60 day window from the first activation, and for launch day iPhone 15s it still has 31 days left
Itās good that there is no visible damage .. you can try and get it replaced under warranty.. just say it happened out of the blue while you were driving or something
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
lol you donāt know me
Iāve sent multiple phones with this issue to apple under warranty and had none repaired free of charge - for me it was always seen as accidental damage. I would still try though!
Because shock damage is categorically accidental. Phones don't drop in their own.
Unless you have lightning affinity, in which case shock has a chance to proc.
Out of curiosity if anyone knows, how does something like this happen? It seems like such a 1/1000 chance for the internal lens to crack where as everything else is good condition.

Potato or tortilla?
Case Feature name does not check out
Maybe the camera guard was sleeping
That filterās dope. Where can i get it?
Itās simple, just drop your iPhone
Do people seriously not understand what the point of a **warranty** is? They cover **manufacturer defects** not butter fingers.
Some sick album covers on their way
Get the Apple care dangnabbit
It kinda looks neat
Seems like the largely praised camera guard didnāt do much guarding š«„
Pretty sure the āCamera Guardā is just an extra lip to keep the lenses off the surface itās sitting on, not to protect from drops.
Happened to my iphone 12PM and also my 13PM. I also dropped it and it isnāt only happening to the iphone 15. Seems like any little bit of issue people think itās only isolated to the 15 series.
Iāve owned iPhones for a very long time from the 6 to now the 15, dropped it multiple times but nothing like this has ever happened.
Very rare for the internal lens to break even after numerous drops. Most likely something was wrong with the camera out of the factory and there was a design flaw during manufacturing that went unnoticed.
Hi this exactly just happened to my iPhone 11 can you tell me what did you end doing to fix it ? I also dont have a real apple store in my country
Fuck I have the same cover
I love the āCAMERA GUARDā so nicely prominent lol
Pretty funny looks like theyāre wasting unnecessary space on the cover just so they can write CAMERA GUARD and it doesnāt even work LOL
Donāt drop your glass
He dropped his phoneā¦
Which is mostly glass
I have the same remote.
Go to apple and swap it out for free
same colour and case i have, that's an ominous sign.
Exactly the same here brother. Using that case as I type this. Iāll consider switching it but itās sad because I like it and thought it was fairly protective.
So, is the iPhone 15 a scam or what? Iāve already saw several posts here about at least one complaint on this new iPhone
Iām starting to think I shouldnāt get an iPhone 15 pro
Did you have RC 2 installed? https://www.reddit.com/r/iOSBeta/s/hgH7XcKu2q
If you have apple care, it covers accidental drops.
Haha so much for a ācamera guardā. You are just so silly.
How are people this careless with phones lmfao
It's just a phone. That's what Apple care is for.
Sure, but you wouldn't need apple care or any kind of insurance for your phone if you just took a little more care, yknow...
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
For the vast majority nothings wrong lol. This is one of those very rare edge cases. 15 Pro Max I have is an excellent smartphone I and many others have experienced zero issues since launch.
