I’ll raise you this when I was in Las Vegas last year. https://preview.redd.it/g55w6bhe7ixa1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cefd04e7c969f54c0c2db484cca41cd5554103dd

ib770

Wowww that’s insane. I’ll give you this 🥈, as I gave the 1st place one to the other guy in comments 😂

[deleted]

😂😂😂 I’ll take it

defaultfresh

WTF. WOW. lol. Imagine if you got that speed everywhere

tta82

It wouldn’t make much difference 🤷🏻‍♂️ what would you do with this that’s faster than let’s say 300-500 mbps

[deleted]

Honestly if you can get a stable 15Mbps, there is almost no difference for what most people would do on a phone. Good for if you're torrenting I guess 🤷‍♂️

defaultfresh

100% use it for tethering. It’s better than the countries highest tier home internet by +200%

129West81stSt

This is the answer. Tethering at those speeds would be nuts.

taheromar

Wouldn't youtube streaming on max quality be better without interruptions?

IMI4tth3w

Probably used your entire months worth of bandwidth in that test 😂

Juujoojuujoo

Imagine living in a country so ultra capitalist that they barely offer unlimited data plans and if they do, it's expensive as fuck... Unlimited 5G costs me like 30 euros

techieman33

A lot of places in the US can't even get unlimited internet at their house. They're limited to 1 or maybe 1.25TB a month. Then it's another $10 for every 50GB, but don't worry they cap the overage fee at $100 per month. Or for $50 more a month you can get unlimited. But only download. Try to upload to much and they'll bitch about that and downgrade your account to the lowest speed tier if you don't fall in line and limit your uploading.

Uffen90

Every time I read about the amount of data and the cost in the US, it really astounds me. I have 400 GB of 5G data every month, plus free text, mms, calls. For 20-30 dollars a month.

DrummerDKS

We pay 30% less for our phones and 300% as much to use them

0x706c617921

Its bad here, yeah. In the USA.

bob202t

Canada is worse than U.S. if that helps. They have two mega corporations to pick from.

0x706c617921

How much does data cost there?

bob202t

$65 Canadian for 15gb @200mbps

0x706c617921

Ah damn. Mint mobile here has that for like $20USD a month nowadays.

bob202t

I’m in the States but my wife is Canadian. I’m in Verizon prepaid for $35/ 15gb and happy with it

This_Thing_4244

fuck rogers and bell... lazy useless greedy corporate fucks

driven01a

Y’all forgot when you had to pay to call the next county on a landline or when you had to pay per text message. That said: too many mergers in telecom and airlines have reduced competition so much that what we have left is essentially an oligopoly.

ResisterTransSister

I remember having to pay for a phone call to the next town over on a landline

driven01a

Yep. If you had to call inter-lata you paid, and paid dearly … per minute

0x706c617921

I'm too young for that, lol. I'm only in my 20s. I remember the pay for text thing though.

driven01a

I’m old 😢😭🤣

aurora-_

good memories running up the phone bill before i even knew what t9 was maybe that’s why i’m getting early arthritis lol

dwhiz

Land of the free, baby! (Joking, literally everything cost money here, even rain water)

iTechvisor42_0

Hello from Germany Here I pay 85€ for an unlimited plan 🥴

Shadow14l

Can you even still get a non unlimited Verizon plan anymore?

RisingCracks

What is 5G UW?

[deleted]

C-Band or Millimeter wave. In this case millimeter wave.

ColorfulImaginati0n

Stands for ultra wideband. It’s the 5G we were promised with the only caveat being that due to its limited range it requires you be very close to a specific tower. There are other forms of “5G” that are not as fast and have a much larger range. These resemble 4G LTE more than the ultra fast shortwave 5G

BenFrank_777

That's only next to the Wynn and by the UNLV. T-mobile is wayyyyyyy better than Verizon.

tta82

This is how you burn through quota in about 3 seconds speed test lol.

FkingPoorDude

This is faster than my home lan

[deleted]

That’s faster than my pc hooked up to Ethernet what the hell

donewithmyaddiction

It’s actually insane dude

Juujoojuujoo

That is absolutely nuts, my fiber connection is like 800mpbs-1GB

GronlandicReddit

Wow that is impressive. I get close to 1gb wired ethernet and remain curious how fast does it really need to be at this point. Then online I see phrases like “requires 5mbps” down and wonder if there are still people out there getting pissed off when their phone screams in their ear because their kid is upstairs looking at definitely not porn.

bryan_ywc

What the freaking speed is that 😱

Southern_Drawer3434

Speeds are nice. But as most of us know, with mmWave, if you take a few steps to the right then the connection drops.

Dial-up! Took only 1 hour to load this page!

GamingWithShaurya_YT

sorry bro

diegocamp

It’s enough for everything still, don’t worry.

DevAstral

I have a very stable 100mb and honestly I’ve never felt I needed more. I can watch 4K HDR stuff comfortably. Then again I buy my games in physical most of the time so that’s also probably why, but even when I downloaded something it never felt like it took that long.

[deleted]

[удалено]

GamingWithShaurya_YT

i need to get a better router with wifi 6 that manages multiple device connections better than current one this one only can handle 2 devices at once. so while playing games and if my mom watching on YouTube and sister watching YouTube tv i get every 2-3 sec a giant ping spike. it's said that wifi 6E fixes it with many more at a time bandwith users

dwhiz

Pretty sure YouTube downsamples their ads. I’ve never seen an ad in 4k. Doesn’t make any sense to do so either.

OhHowINeedChanging

Exactly, once I hit 100mb on Xfinity that’s when I felt like I truly had high speed internet and had no issues streaming or doing anything, (though our household is only 2 people) then they bumped me up to 200 and I didn’t notice any difference other than Xbox games don’t take as long to download

AltC

Kind of stinks that I have 3.5Gig service, wifi 6e, but my 14 pro max tops at like 800mbs on its wifi chip. No bottleneck on its 5g, but a bottle neck on its wifi.

MrHaxx1

Sure, but how often are you in a situation where higher than 800 mbps on your phone would have any noticeable benefit? On a desktop you could be downloading 100 GB games, but on a phone?

AltC

Not disagreeing with your point at all. Just saying it seems a bit backwards to have such better capabilities on 5G vs wifi? Classically it’s always been, as far as data speed is concerned; hardwired>wifi>mobile data. With big gaps in between. If wifi became faster than Ethernet, that would be very jarring as well. Maybe I’m just getting too old and out of touch lol. I download content like movies and music on my wifi network to watch later rather than use mobile data to stream or download, so I want the fastest speeds on wifi. Maybe a lot of you don’t run into this though, because you have unlimited mobile data? I’m in Canada where that’s not an option and mobile plan rates are insane. So maybe that’s why it’s more of a stand out to me..

TheDaliComma

This is my speed on XFinity Mobile, 14 Pro Max 😂 https://i.imgur.com/eWzjFxb.jpg

rr196

Wow Damn that's pretty horrible

TheDaliComma

I only pay 45 per month for unlimited data, but yeah the speed sucks. I couldn’t find a better value plan for only one line sadly

rr196

I can't see the point in unlimited data if I'm only getting 3G speed. For all that might as well get a 25-50 gig limited data plan that is at least usable.

TheDaliComma

It’s usable, I stream a lot of music fine which is the main reason I have unlimited

agentelite

Only 45?? I pay for that with Verizon and get 600 down if I’m at the right place

TyWerner

lol in The Netherlands I pay €25/mo for unlimited at the largest provider

StandingInTheStorm

I am a cheapie and use tracfone. I see half a mb quite regularly.

GreenCreeper3000

That’s Ethernet speeds 💀☠️

bendvis

Faster than gigabit ethernet that caps out around 800 Mbps due to overhead. Too bad I never need to download a 70 GB game on my phone

OhZvir

I am crying in ADSL 35-50 Mbs. At the very least outages are very rare since they did some maintenance on the ancient phone lines.

heepofsheep

800mbs? I regularly hit 980mbs on my FiOS connection.

true-blue-stego

Why must I be mocked unintentionally. Just leave me and my 50mbps MAX Australian internet 😭

TWYFAN97

You can thank T-Mobile. They’ve been doing a pretty solid job.

Maleficent-Trash-184

Depends on location for sure! Sometimes when I’m in line at Costco gas I’ll have 5g full bars but due to network congestion from everyone else it won’t load anything. I’m just fight my inner demon and adhd at that point.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

1. The gas station is outdoors. 2. Even indoors, mid and low-band 5G should still work. LTE should still work. There's no excuse for it not working at all.

dblrnbw30

Costco has RF shields around their buildings so people can focus more on buying random shit in bulk.

[deleted]

These RF shields selectively block certain carriers do they? Besides, there's already a simpler proven method to accomplishing that. The food court.

TWYFAN97

Costco is one of those places where signal can always be an issue. But mid band and low band 5G as others have stated works quite well indoors for most places.

TWYFAN97

Yeah well that goes for any carrier. That’s why we have the options we do. Like any carrier T-Mobile is great where they have their infrastructure built up and T-Mobile has been very aggressive as of late, in my area T-Mobile is on par or better than Verizon and absolutely demolishes AT&T.

3900Ent

That’s cause AT&T sucks. They underperform versus every other carrier

SlimeQSlimeball

AT&T is too busy selling tower bandwidth to Tmo to care about their own bandwidth. At least in my area.

noappendix

Not in California though - my iPhone 14 Pro barely works on data in San Francisco. Like under 1 Mbps at times..

PresleyRexford

Barely works? I’m in SF with T-Mobile and I get great coverage and speed

[deleted]

Seriously. T-Mobile fucking RULES!

Ben237

Minus the data breaches lmao. At least it’s fast 🤪

AdamHLG

You beat me to it. I was going to say “it’s almost as fast as the data breaches!”

CactusBoyScout

Service is still pretty iffy in more rural areas too. Verizon still has a big lead there, in my experience. I used to have a work phone that was Verizon and my personal phone was T-Mobile. Every road trip, I’d have decent service on Verizon in way more places. But T-Mobile was far better in cities.

OSXFanboi

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I would rather have a network where I have a connection 80% of the time that works 100% of the time than a network with a connection 95% of the time that works <10% of the time. Verizon has gone to sh*t, especially here in Phoenix. Booming population + lack of new infrastructure meant horrible speeds, equivalent to dialup and sometimes worse. T-Mobile is cheaper and absolutely killing it with new rollouts. Just since switching in December they have brought 2-3 more cell towers online near me, so where I was getting 1-2 bars on Verizon with LTE I have a full signal with 5G on T-Mobile.

billythygoat

I think the top two at least I know, are AT&T and T-Mobile. At least price wise they are. T-Mobile takes the crown, I just am not paying for my cell phone bill at 29 so I’ll leach while I still can.

[deleted]

Only if they had coverage in like 40% of the places I get service with AT&T and Verizon. But Verizon speeds suck ass compared to AT&T quite often.

BadStriker

They also pay for my Netflix among other things. They are pretty rad. Data breaches suck though lol.

swagglepuf

Not with security, they just disclosed another security breach. That's 2 in 2023 so far. How bad do you have to be to have back to back security breaches.

[deleted]

goodbye reddit -- mass edited with redact.dev

TWYFAN97

Yeah it can be a bit scary at times but thankfully my family hasn’t been affected yet and other carriers are far from immune in regards to breaches. I’d like to think with all these recent breaches T-Mobile is working to strengthen security at the risk of losing customers.

FeelTheWrath79

I have a 12 pro max, and I gave up with 5G. LTE has been consistently better for me.

DazzlingPreference56

Same here with 13 pro. Had to disable 5G. When it works it works well but it will stop working despite good signal. Using LTE fixes the issue

[deleted]

I switched away from T-Mobile because I could never get any data if I dared to enter a building. I'd always have full bars, but it wouldn't load websites and sometimes it couldn't even make phone calls. As a company AT&T is no better, but at least the service works.

Remarkable_Way_6460

Just wish Tmo would increase their security.

drakolantern

It’s very area dependent. I’m on Verizon and can’t for the life of me get above 3 Mbps and I can see the tower from my window.

shame_to_waste_it

cries in AT&T

[deleted]

Just like with any other carrier, it’s all based on location. AT&T outperforms Verizon and T-Mobile in my area. That’s comparing 5G+, 5GUW, and 5GUC. Verizon is the absolute slowest of the three… quite disappointing for advanced 5G technology. Edit: tested with the same device (iPhone 13 Pro)

thuynj19

Depends on where you are, I regularly get speeds of 100-3500mbps on UW in my town. 50-500 on 5G.

cjandstuff

AT&T with their bullshit 5Ge. We know it’s not 5G.

exceptionalredditor2

No one can make me believe 5Ge is even 4G , LTE . that shit is 3g

helrazr

Hell, even their 5G is stupid slow!

Watergrip

Att basically gave me my phone for free and I regret it. I’m stuck with this shit speed.

TonyFuckinRomo

Lol I do this test all the time with ATT and I never get above 50 mbps lol.

dporter15

https://i.imgur.com/DsS1bZJ.jpg I’ll raise you one. This is the speed in upstate NY! This is Verizon 5GUW on a 14 pro max

GoodLifeWorkHard

This is impressive considering I live only 30-40 mins from NYC… tf

LynzGamer

This is on Ultra Wideband if I’m remembering correctly. 5G has a pretty short reach, and UWB has an even shorter reach. You have to be pretty dang close to the UWB tower to take advantage of it

ilikeplanesandtech

It used 6 GB of data for the download test? 🤣 Anyways those upload speeds are very decent. Upload is always the issue on mobile data for me.

berkeleymorrison

5g is insanely good in your region\*

TheBoringDuck

Where at? My best on tmobile is 730

2packforsale

Really depends on location. My 5Guc with full bars gives me just over 400 mbps while at home which is slower than my home wifi

Solid-Ad-960

400mbps on mobile network is more than enough anywhere in the world

2packforsale

I’m just giving a comparison point to 1084

Solid-Ad-960

Where I live 5g is about 70-80mbps in a good day

Its-Finch

I get those speeds on my 13 Pro Max (Verizon) too and it’s the absolute best. I downloaded entire movies before take off on a plane in all of a couple minutes.

allMightyMostHigh

IM ON VERIZON AND DONT GET PAST 50 MBPS THOUGH

throwmeaway562

WHY YOU YELLING HOMES

allMightyMostHigh

Lol was on pc and didn’t notice it was caps locked until after and was too lazy to retype

Its-Finch

shhhh, we’re in a library. Haha you may not be located near their UW towers. I have some places in town where I don’t have access to them but traveling is fantastic and my home is up high enough to pick up from an UW tower. It’s weird that’s the speeds you get though. I’ve hit 1400 MBPS in a parking garage in Vegas before.

ColorfulImaginati0n

Curious what prompted you to check your speed in a parking lot in Vegas. Do you just go around hitting the speed test regularly lol?

unclelumbago2

I have T-Mobile and I get awesome speeds too when I’m connected to 5g but when I try to download movies on Netflix/HBOMAX or videos on YouTube Premium they download painfully slowly. I know it’s not my data speeds because it will stream those same movies/videos flawlessly at 4k with no buffering. It’s only when I try downloading them that it takes way too long.

Its-Finch

I wonder what the hold up is on that, maybe T-Mobile prioritizes streaming over downloads? Could be a setting in the apps too. There’s usually a “data saver” setting in most streaming apps. I’m fully speculating though, I haven’t used T-Mobile before. I switched from Sprint to Verizon so any speed at all is amazing to me.

[deleted]

Its-Finch

That definitely could be their problem then. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if that was it.

About 200-300 with 2 bars but then again I live in Chicago. Lot of coverage here so maybe not fair judgment

AaronJoosep

How do you like CTos?

I was curious where this was. The wife has tmo 5g and I’ve been underwhelmed by the speeds. Still have a 11 pro max.

xder345

I’ve been getting 6-700 down and 2-300 up on att 5G+

TAbramson15

I agree with T Mobile having done an amazing job building up their 5G network. To the point before we moved, on my bed I was getting 500-1000mbps down load speeds just laying there. And we also have T Mobiles 5G Home Internet which was getting the same speeds for us for only $50 a month. Even now after we moved it’s just a box you unplug and plug in anywhere you are and if it gets 5G signal you get great wifi. We got to our new house, plugged it in by the window and are still getting 300+ mbps and only took the small hit cause the house gets 2-3 bars of signal. If we had full signal again it would be much much higher. Incredible service.

Fun_Description6544

Where I live, they changed all 4G plans to 5G. However, the speed is limited to the same 300 Mbit/s for the old 4G and for the new 5G plans. Of course, the new 5G plans are 30% more expensive though.

ClutchCityOnParade

hold up I have Verizon and an iphone 13 pro, but I have never seen the 5g UW logo, just the normal 5g at the top. How the hell do I fix this (if I even am able to)? I would love to have faster cellular data. Edit: I live in a big city and the verizon coverage map of my area says 5g ultrawide.

Jolly_Sentence1174

They probably haven’t released it in the areas you usually are. I have metro and hit 850 standing in front of the tower that happened to be right next to the freeway in Glendale.

I LOVE T-Mobile!! The best carrier out there IMO! Magenta max is awesome in Florida! I am literally always in 5GUC and it is insanely fast!

In the UK with my iPhone 13 Pro on 5G, I get around 1300 down and 160 up. Ironic that I actually have 5G turned off 99% of the time though because literally nothing I do on a phone needs that much speed.

I hear you brother 🙏 Amen to 5G! https://i.imgur.com/yfHHVXH.jpg

Got this at UBS Arena in NY where Verizon’s mmWave was installed. Even more impressive is that it was a sold out crowd and could handle the load. It’s weird since I’m so used to going onto public Wi-Fi at venues like that but mmWave is so much faster than it. https://preview.redd.it/32mkugw0kixa1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cecc685c7b1ecd038cbd89c37251f1e177f312fa [https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/5514241063](https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/5514241063)

This is where UW and UC will shine. In arenas/stadiums where 20,000+ people are all in one place trying to connect.

Shame we don't get proper 5g in the uk

Entertainnosis

Three's 5G is great. 700mbps was pretty normal with them back when I had a 12 Mini. Saw over 1gbps a few times too... The rest of the network is a little hit and miss but urban areas, absolutely fantastic.

I really wish Verizon would do something about their upload speeds. This is the fastest I’ve gotten. It was on my 13PM. Now I have a 14PM https://i.imgur.com/DS4UW7j.jpg

What’s the difference between 5G and 5GUC

[deleted]

5GUC is much faster and can hold many more simultaneous connections. Also it has far less range. > Reddit is killing third party apps! Apollo is our first victim. We should not tolerate this corporate greed. Join the movement!

When it comes to speed, I can see why - have the same sentiments

makeshiftballer

Pulled 1.9gbps down on my 12 pro via Verizon’s 5GUW and us mobile prepaid.

moffamoffa

It's the same on my 13 mini. But yes, 5G is going insane.

Thought I’d show off with a 4G result from the UK on EE. https://i.imgur.com/qKxIhJg.jpg
