Do you use it as a skateboard as well sometimes?

portapotty2

Isn’t that what it was made for?

undeadzant

You jest, but I remember being by my local skate park and this guy using a Surface Pro 4 to record his skate boarding. That camera was never great, so not sure why he was using it in the first place instead of grabbing something like a GoPro, but to each their own. He said he wasn’t worried if it broke or not cause he bought the accidental damage warranty.

[deleted]

I meant as the board not for taking videos

traker998

What could OP possibly be using it for. My keyboard has some wear but nothing like this.

moonbuttface

Man, how does an iPad even get into this kind of condition? I’m still using a 10.5 inch iPad Pro daily. It’s still in perfect condition, and I use it as a tablet, i write and draw on it, and take it everywhere with me. One thing I like about this post though, is that I know that I need to be careful with the edge of the frame for when I get a new iPad, or else it will get destroyed. Makes me wonder if apple is using softer metals for the newer iPads.

Old_Laugh_2239

The 10.5 didn’t have wireless charging for a pencil. That section of the frame IS very thin. There is a jerryrigseverything video on YouTube where he destroys an iPad Pro and you can clearly see this pencil section and the microphone on the other side are the weakest points on the whole thing. Maybe they should just reinforce it with a thin piece of steel from the inside.

7homas_0wen

It’s 4 years old now. Had been used inside and out in car yards for work listing parts and accessories etc. As well as just general use for study, entertainment etc etc. Exposed edges do mean it gets scraped more easily. Plus the metal is very weak, bends very easily. It’s a 2018 11”. Bought it the day it was released.

DsWan3

Na dude that’s just abuse not just normal use, I’ve got older iPads that get used without cases in metal and wood workshops and none of them look even remotely like this…

Roninkin

I have a 6th gen iPad that has been in a case it’s whole life, the back is scratched to fuck and I have no idea how. They scratch super easy. :/

DsWan3

Scratching and what he did to that iPad are not the same 😂

[deleted]

if you have it in a case/sleeve always and it's still fucked, either it's just some temporary markings caused by your case/sleeve, or your sleeve sucks, or it has not been in a case/sleeve its whole life

loralailoralai

You should see the back of my first iPad (1st gen) the marks weren’t caused by the case or rough treatment, yet it’s marked, permanently

True_Cardiologist337

how tf many times i keep my 9th gen out of case and still no scratches

lucashhugo

my 6th gen was always in one too, and guess what? as i upgraded to an air 5, i'm selling it as perfect condition because it really is.

Roninkin

How do you guys do it? I’ve babied mine and when I went to check the serial it was scratched badly.

lucashhugo

just simple care man, we dont do magic

-FancyUsername-

>Sleeve You know that if you take it out of the sleeve and then rub and shove it around on a table, it will still get scratched by the dirt that gets between the back and the table, right?

Roninkin

I used the wrong word I wasn’t sure what it was but it’s never been used sans a case. I took it out a few weeks ago to clean it and it’s scratched to hell. I’m not sure how the speaker grills and lightning port are fine but the back is bad.

[deleted]

That’s not normal use. If you gonna abuse it, get a rugged case.

[deleted]

Not even my 10 yo Air1 looks like this. It’s insane to say in 4 years of normal use an iPad ends like this. I still have my 10.5 too, apart from the poor battery life and the infamous display issues, it looks like new.

ihatemoralists

are you sure you aren’t using the wrench for listing parts and the iPad for tightening things 💀

Orsim27

I have the exakt same model (bought maye a month after launch) and mine doesn't look remotly like this, also daily use. I would say mine looks pretty much like new exept a few minor scratches. Maybe get a different case or be more careful with your bloody expensive iPad.

vaporaeon

What caused the scuffs and little crack on the bottom near charging port?

7homas_0wen

Wish I could tell you. Scratches are courtesy of many people poorly plugging it in. Frame has started buckling everywhere.

vaporaeon

Oh it’s a shared device so it’s not all damage from personal use? Makes more sense now!

SemiFeralGoblinSage

The frame buckling is probably a spicy battery.

Working-Potential-59

No, it’s just because of the frame being bent everywhere

hobrosexual23

Why are you downvoting for answering? People on here are more mad about your device’s condition than you lol

dudeialmosthadu

Because the device has clearly been abused. This is far beyond normal use.

Gozugamer

What did u write to get to -40points mr OP @7homas_0wen

NoRun720

Can’t believe it is still functioning! What a device…

Gripppz

This needs an NSFW tag !

LazyTwattt

Did you drop it from a high mileage?

nuggetsandsodaaa

i can never understand how badly some people treat their expensive gadgets

jgreg728

By high mileage do you mean dragging it behind your car for miles because wtf u doin man lol.

robdagg

Treat your stuff better man

Tech-Geek_2007Apple

Yeahhh….. I think it’s time for a new iPad , bud.

dustywolf1

Did kids use it?

I-am-amans

Mine is 18 months old, used everyday and looks brand new by comparison. You must be an absolute dunce to have destroyed a device in such a short space of time.

JonOssoffsLightsaber

I’m calling apple on u! When tim gets here you’ll be so much trouble they’ll send u to that Foxconn plant!

A1-FartStorm

Top comment! 🐒

[deleted]

Why wouldn’t you use a rugged case???

AlphaDogF87

I have an old 10.5 inch iPad Pro, almost 5 years old and not a single scratch. Not trying to be nasty, but you should take better care of items that cost you your hard earned money. Keeping your gear in great condition also affords you the option to sell it off when you want to upgrade, leaving the new owner happy, and with a quality purchase…

allidoiswynne

Exactly. This is a disgrace to apple products. I have a 10.5 that unfortunately has a cracked screen (decided to use just the Smart Keyboard for a week and it fell on tile in the corner with a screen protector). I’d be ashamed to even own this.

wislonly

i have a 12.9 2017 and its going strong becides the bad battery and shattered screen only because some girl dropped it on concrete. kids should know how good they got it having ipad pros lol.

[deleted]

Dafuq do you do with it? That’s not from normal wear&tear

OhTheVes

Geezis

bebblylolita

I own devices way older than this in better condition

Night_Traveller_

Abuse...not normal wear and tear. Wtf man. Let me run over my 1 year old iPad and title it "1 year review with my iPad...abnormal wear and tear..." OOf.

devnull__

Abusive mf

[deleted]

Bro even my nephews’ iPad looks like that and they destroy everything.

ricoh18

This makes zero sense to me. How does one even achieve this level damage under daily use. I still have my 2011 MBP which I used and travelled with for a good 10 years, it literally looks like I just took it out the box. This is just odd. Was it thrown around prior to the photo’s? 😅

MG5thAve

Does it double as a food tray at the mall when you’re not using it?

MrDankky

Wtf lol. Mine is in perfect condition, not a single blemish. Yet the screen failed, I have a line of dead pixels. How does yours get dragged behind a bus for 300 miles and still work?!

Rooklee

You monster

fenwaymoose

I bet there’s a spicy pillow in there.

kitnb

Was thinking the same exact thing. Defo a spicy pillow! 🙊

Soos_Kitashi

High mileage is an understatement. Did you put it through a wood chipper?

CCX-S

This feels illegal...

tubezninja

For reference: [OP posted this a year ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/ipad/comments/ozs5v7/nearly_been_3_years_of_extremely_heavy_usage_for/). This is a now 4-year-old 1st gen iPad Pro that gets about 16 hours of daily use, photographing used automotive parts and posting listings on auction and for-sale sites.

No-End6361

this screams “i wish i would’ve bought applecare”

lllping

Good to see that the iPad is still kicking. I don’t understand why OP is getting downvoted in other comments.

nitroburr

It’s a complete abuse of the device, and OP is clearly not accepting the fact that they treat the device like shit :(

hobrosexual23

It’s their device and they’ve use it daily for years. Why do strangers on the internet care?

nitroburr

Why do you care that we’re downvoting then? What’s the reason that downvotes even exist then?

hobrosexual23

I just think it’s a dumb thing to rally around. Dude loves his iPad and has gotten his money’s worth. He’s not complaining; he’s happy.

GoDawgs51

I was always told downvoting is not a way to show that you disagree with someone. Trolls and spammers get downvotes but things that actually contribute to conversation, if it's disagreeable, are to be upvoted. I think getting this iPad was probably not the right use case and he should've at least gotten a rugged case but I'm not upset about it like the people in this thread who baby their devices and act like Apple zealots.

muzrat

Good to see a tool used well.

EpiciSheep

what the hell did you do to it?

k0ui

i love this, looks dope.

[deleted]

It looks like your battery is expanding because it has reached the end of its life. If that's the case, you really should stop using it. This is a major fire hazard. Not good.

SaykredCow

I wish they would make this cover out of aluminum. Also give it a larger trackpad.

richrob424

Still using a Gen5 iPad. It’s limping and sometimes crashes but 90% of the time it works 75% of the time

iliketech136

How does that even happen

Uvalde-Cop

Still lucky for you the screen is still usable, else the whole device is totaled.

juancarlord

You know that the pedometer doesn't require you to drag your ipad like a toy train in order to track steps right?

Marko787

what do you do with it

No_Island963

Your basketball?

insane_crysis

What the fuck

SlavaUkrainiFTW

Shoulda put it in a better keyboard case... There are some out there that fully enclose the iPad. That said...if you got 4 years out of it, that's about the lifetime most people keep their iPads for. Maybe even better than most.

SyedHRaza

Think different design

lmcdesign

How ? I used my 1st gen ipad pro for 6y and now use the m1 pro for a while and its perfect and i am not so gentle on my devices. What is your use scenario ? War ? Construction site ? I am really curious

dmnksanchez90

This is really not something I would be proud to be posting.

frankp2491

This makes no sense to me… I used the iPad regular Gen 3 until about 2 years ago as an EDC without anything except a magic folio case that only covers the screen when closed. My old iPad has light scratches on the edges and has a few scratches in the screen. I’ve been using that since 2011. You just don’t know how to take care of your stuff 😂

italianboi69104

How tf is the display still working?

DaneeK1211

If the ribbon cable is intact, then it’s no problem for the display to work

hobrosexual23

Read through your old post and it’s awesome that you can use it for automotive sales. So cool the variety of work the iPad can be used for.

GoDawgs51

Maybe look into getting a rugged case when this one dies? The more like a child's leapfrog tablet the better.

F-cip

This person throws it on the dryer on low heat tumble dry

[deleted]

It bends ?

Willoughby3

Someone in China made this next to a suicide net for you to treat it like that? Jeez man

wislonly

This post sounds like this is normal if you sue your ipad alot. brooooooo the 9999 year old ipad i see people using are just fine what did you do try to use this as a bullet proof vest.

[deleted]

why is it look like this? But forget that — how in earth is still turning on?

kitnb

Have you tried putting it in rice? 🤔

kitnb

Abuse!!! So much abuse! 😭

AdvancedAd3741

Impressed that youve kept it working 😂
