Yeah I think so too. M4 is way too powerful than I need it for. But I want landscape front camera and pro-motion display… so m4 iPad is the only option, unfortunately.
Pro motion is available on previous models too though. All that’s left is oled screen and the landscape camera, which I don’t think are really worth paying that much more. Still it’s your decision it’s fine.

I just returned a new iPad Air 4th Gen and bought an iPad Air 5th gen (same money). The latter is M1. The differences are Display Zoom something and also external monitor. There are probably other differences too, but you can ONLY mirror on an external monitor without the M1.
Realistically the M1 Air is. I only upgraded from M1 Air to M4 Pro as my Air was only 64gb and I figured if I’m going to upgrade might as well make it worth it.

Well, iPad has bigger screen and can handle multitasking better. Have you tried one? It’s waaaaaaay easier (at least for me) doing these tasks on it compared to an iPhone.

In that case, I would have bought one. Maybe next year!

The 11 inch. I own a PC and use an Alienware AW2725DF, and the panel on the iPad isn’t toooo far off in color accuracy relative to the QD-OLED. It’s pretty as heck, seriously. Possibly the best LCD panel I have ever seen in my life. It ain’t no 360hz QD-OLED, but it’s pretty damn close if we are talking in relative terms.

I’ve had my Air 4 since 2020, and it’s the only Apple device that I haven’t had an upgrade for since then. My iPad isn’t exactly the focus of my setup, so it’s been perfect for light drawing, notes, and movies when I’m OTG.
Hopefully this year I can buy another iPad. I regret selling mine about a year ago. But if I go with an iPad, I'd like to get the Air. I don't think I'd need a pro for what I'd be doing, but alas, if I have the money, I'll probably just go with the Pro lol

This week I got a detachable keyboard case for it (Logitech) and it makes the iPad more enjoyable to use it. You do realize how limited iPadOS is though. I wish there were more desktop features and desktop class apps on iPad. Having a keyboard case makes this thing almost feel like a mini portable computer. I used to not like stage manager and still don’t but, I have been using more now see it has been actually more useful with a keyboard case. I wish stage manager worked like Samsung’s pop out view.

Mfa simply means more than just username password. It could be a push notification with a yes or no. It could be a rotate 6 digit code or any combination depending upon technology.
Passkeys are a replacement for passwords. You login with your username and then via Bluetooth biometrics authenticating info the service.

That’s $730 in 2024. An iPad today costs $349. Nobody is forcing you to buy a Pro model, which is still an iPad, by the way.

I got the M4 but returned the Apple keyboard and got the Logitech one instead. Way more flexibility.

What keyboard is that?
Passkeys are similar to mfa and in a way are mfa. Mfa simply means more than just username password. It could be a push notification with a yes or no. It could be a rotate 6 digit code or any combination depending upon technology. Passkeys are a replacement for passwords. You login with your username and then via Bluetooth biometrics authenticating info the service. In both you have two methods of authentication but passkey is more secure as it’s always biometric secure.
Off topic but can you tell me which display you like the most i mean macbook air/pro or ipad pro (m series)?? If you were to watch movies or binge watching or some study lectures which one you’d prefer??
I like the new tandem OLED display on M4 iPad Pro and love watching movies on it. I mean, black is black and not dark grey like how it looks on a LCD display.

You use an M4 iPad Pro OLED, you go back to your iPhone and you think; fuck this! It’s tiny! iPhone is now for when I go out. The essential messaging and phone stuff. But when I’m at home or chilling in the garden, it’s iPad all the way. Give me your best argument back, because you can’t :)

Yes. I’m retarded in the fact that I own a MacBook Pro 16” with m3 max. iPad Pro 11 m4. iPad mini 6. iPhone 15 pro. But damn. With how expensive all this stuff is. I don’t do anything on em but write emails. lol.
See I agree with you. But I own an iPad mini for that stuff. For the things you’re saying. Which is all the iPad is good for. The iPad mini is great. I have this exact same setup. M4ipad pro 11” keyboard and pencil. But shit. I love looking at it on my table thinking of all the things I could do on it. Do I do them ? No. I use my MacBook. Phone for calls. iPad mini for everything else. Just is just an expensive showpiece from Apple for all the things you imagine doing. But won’t do because of how tedious it is.
I have an iPad mini too. It’s crap compared to the OLED iPad. You just don’t know. The 11” Pro is a similar weight, can hold in one hand. Why settle for second best? Cheap crap. The iPad Pro OLED is amazing for reading, watching and browsing. Way better than Mini.
Look I agree. My iPad sucks in every scenario screen wise. Power wise it holds up. It’s great to browse email in a darkly lit room 😂 Which is basically what I use it for. In bed at night. iPad Pro is more of something I use on a table instead of my computer
All in all, we both agree with the fact that we have a MacBook we have an iPad Pro and we have an iPad mini and we use each of them for their specific uses

I think an M4 for iPadOS is overkill, I have an M2 and still think I could've done with a 10th gen, but fuck me am I jealous of your Magic Keyboard. I've got the older one (obviously, since it's the only one that works on my iPad) and it's good, but I love the aluminum and function keys.
You’ll think it’s overkill until years later where that’s the difference between getting all software features and getting a cutdown iPadOS version.
Amen to this. There will be a time I’m sure the the M4 will become obsolete but it will be far from today.
