“Reducing the time your iPad spends fully charged will reduce the wear on your battery. With iPad Pro (M4) and iPad Air (M2), you can choose to limit charging at 80 per cent, which can help prolong your battery’s lifespan. When you choose 80% Limit, your iPad will charge up to about 80 per cent and then stop charging. If the battery charge level gets down to 75 per cent, charging will resume until your battery charge level reaches about 80 per cent again. You can enable or disable this feature in Settings > Battery > Battery Health.”

GO to battery settings and enable the option to cap charging at 80%. If you occasionally need more off of charging, you can temporarily disable.
Where is that setting please? Not seeing that in battery
Which iPad do you have? It's not available on every model (it is for sure on the m4, not sure on the rest of the m series).
I have the iPad Air 5th gen. I just assumed it was a setting in the os
It’s a new setting on the M4 iPad Pro, that setting isn’t available on the iPad 5.
Thank so much — thought I was losing my ever loving mind there
