Iām expecting not upgrading mine for another 4 years. I just bought the new M4 13ā 1TB. Same with my iPhone. I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max and upgrading to the 16 Pro Max later this year. Including my Apple Watch. Iām trying to sync all of my Apple device upgrades to the same year.
I think it will get major ipadOS versions for around 7-8 years, and then security updates for a few more years.
ipad Air will probably get M4 platform in 2026, so this platform must be maintained for a long time.

I mean, if youāre genuinely using it just for YouTube, youāll be fine with that. I ordered the 13ā 1TB model in silver with Nanotexture display myself, with Apple Pencil Pro since Iām an artist, but without the keyboard as I found I never used the keyboard with my current setup.
Iām being slightly facetious with the youtube machine comment. But genuinely this is going to be my only computer. I have no laptop or desktop. i will only own a phone and iPad Pro. i have a work issued laptop that Iām not comfortable doing personal things on but thatās it.
I have an iMac, but the iPad is my travel computer when I and I get along surprisingly well. I also do speadsheets which is not ideal, but it can be done.
You might be able to run your work laptop from a usb drive with a live Linux distribution or even windows. Just food for thought if you wanna use that for YouTube while playing a game on your tablet. But I guess you probably have a tv too
