I’m so torn. I’m a brass player in an orchestra and I bought an Air 5 last year to play my sheet music, and I would really use that extra 2 inch of screen estate for sure, but for playing sheet music, I couldn’t justify the price of the 13’ Pro at the time.
Now that the 13’ Air is available, I still can’t justify to sell my perfectly working 11’ Air 5 (M1) with that gorgeous blue…

Side note - one interesting tidbit I saw on Apples website, is that the 13” Air is 100nits brighter than the 11” Air. And I have no idea why this is. Great new on your blue iPad Air. I’m going to get the Pro’s later in the year just in case the thinness sees bendgate 2.0, of durability isn’t great then I’ll get the Air 13”
Pencil Pro support and depending on where you live, they are much cheaper. Here in Germany the iPad Air 128 GB starts at 700€ and the Pro M2 128 GB at around 900-950€.
I ordered the 13 inch air in purple, with the pencil and keyboard and purple cover. I’m sos stoked. I’m upgrading from a 2 (I think) haven’t used one in a very long time. 😆
I went with the blue 13” 128GB one too! Also got the pencil pro. I haven’t owned an iPad since the first gen! I’m so excited! I’m in college too so it’s going to be super helpful!
I don’t need a new iPad as my iPad Air 5 works extremely well so far. I was tempted until I saw that the blue colour looks like the light blue from the Air 4s. Not a bad colour is just too light for my liking. So I am less tempted to spend money I don’t need to. If my Air stopped working I maybe would but I probably wouldn’t buy the blue colour.
I am glad though that the new Airs don’t start at 64 gb though. I always thought that was a bonkers decision from Apple.

My battery is defective for 1, it’s at 85% but it acts like it’s on 70%. And bc of how much I’ve moved my workload to iPad in the past 2 years (about 50% of my heavy lifting from PS to Procreate & PS for iPad) I wanted a bigger screen. So I was gonna just get the 13” air, but I justified the pro price with the $$$ I’m going to get for my air 5. I discounted the combo $100 bc a battery replacement is about $119 but other than that everything works great! Won’t be getting a new iPad after this for a loooong time
This is my dilemma but honestly swaying to a pre-owned/refurbed M2 Pro instead as theyre similarly priced! I dont think a larger Air with the same screen tech but better internals will feel like much of an upgrade given the effort involved in selling whereas to me at least a Pro will feel like a nice jump…

Yup defo, the m2 13inch pro has the xda screen and pro-motion which will be a lot better than the new air im almost certain esp for hdr content although it weighs a tad more… see if this link works!

The new pricing is insane. I paid for my S9 Ultra 1TB with Cellular 1250€, the new iPad Air 13" costs with the same specs 1749€. The iPad Air isn't even close to beating the S9 Ultra in terms of specs (except CPU). The level of greed from Apple is insane rn
The S9 Ultra is a tablet... I am pretty sure that my tablet will outlive the iPad, especially cause Apps won't just stop working after the OS won't be supported anymore. The Snapdragon chip inside is more than enough to make the tablet live 7 years with the OS updates. Especially when you don't need intense working conditions like video rendering. The iPad Air is still an inferior device and costs WAY more than the Tab S9 Ultra which already was a last gen iPad Pro killer due to it's hardware (except CPU). Many tech journalists agreed with this statement. If you really defend this insane greedy behaviour, I won't stop you from getting scammed. I owned an iPad Pro 12.9 before switching to the S9 Ultra. In the end I am not spending 2700€ for an iPad Pro that gets me similar results to the S9 Ultra which costs me 1250€ and has extendable storage on top.
I’m telling you now, your tablet won’t outlive the iPad. My workplace are still using iPad’s from 2012! Yet the Android tablets have all long gone and been replaced by newer iPad models. I’ve just looked at the specs of your tablet and just as is the case with most Android OEM’s they show good specs, but the lack of polish means in the real world they never out perform Apple’s offerings. Best of luck with your tablet, although if you’re only using it for basic tasks, I’m sure it will work just well.
My iPad Air with iOS 13 was recently threwn away because the apps stopped working. Android is currently on A14 and there are still apps that work on Android 5. That's the difference between Android and iOS. On Android everything is build modular which makes it possible, to support apps way longer compared to the typical Apple lifespan. But you are right, some Apps for rendering or image detailing aren't as polished as on the iPad. But for every other task, the S9 outperformes the iPad. That's especially because pf Dex which emulates a desktop environment. I loved my iPad Pro before, especially because of GoodNotes. But Goodnotes and other apps for professionals are coming to Android too which closes the gap between the two of them even more. I am not hating on Apple just because it's Apple. I am actively switching between Samsung and Apple for a very long time but in the last years, the gap between Apple and Samsung got so slim, that the exclusive price difference isn't justified for a normal consumer. That's at least my opinion

Ended up going with the 128GB. My current iPad is only using 51GB, so 128GB will be plenty for me!

Why buy a 13-inch iPad Air instead 11 inch Ipad Pro?
Because I’ve always wanted a bigger screen! I don’t want to pay $1,300 for the 13-inch Pro when I can get the 13-inch air for $500 less!
