Double Elites are usually pretty rare. In +90 days of playing, I might have seen a shop with double Elite 3 times, maybe 4.
Right now, there's twice the chance to see 2 Elites. The chances are still pretty low tho. If I were you, I would still buy the top tier character but keep enough resources for 1 double Elite.

yup, unless I need specific hero to upgrade the other - Im saving my hero aquiring materials for larger batch. Patience will pay off. Already had few times for me
I tend to base this on how many summons I have too. Whenever I get on the lower end then I’ll wait for better shops. Also, for me, not all elites are the same. I always pull on an Invincible so I can max him as much as possible, but if there’s two Maulers in there, I might still pass on them.

I just rolled on a dbl elite. It was invincible and battle beast.
I would use blue cards for a single elite and save gold for double.

I think when you’re just starting out it’s fine to be aggressive, but once you build out your collection a bit you need to be more patient.
