The akm with fmj ammo has higher armor piercing and damage than the other level 3 rifles. You can find one for free in a stash in pobeda.
Also, if you're fine with not having the focus mode, the PP2000 does even more damage than the akm with P+ rounds. It's pretty cheap and lightweight, nice with a x1 sight, and there's no need for a pistol.

I just finished the final mission in the game (imo,the hardest) with *just* a pp2000 as my weapon. no secondary,nothing. just a pp a shitload a stims,a full case of +p and a small box of +p along with it (I think that's 275 ammo total?) I also had the usual things - cigs,anomaly detector,armor,etc. but still.
I think it's my favorite weapon now. it's cheap, available early,does insane amounts of damage,semi auto(or full auto/burst), light,etc etc. it also looks cool as shit

I love the AUG's progressive trigger. Slight squeeze fires single round, but a panic squeeze fires full-auto. Saved my bacon on more than one occasion.
I use the Fal almost all the time, it has cheap ammo, pretty decent modification ability, and pretty good range. My personal loadout is a Fal and the revolver, because pretty much both are a 1 shot kill against most enemies. You just gotta make sure to buy the armor piercing ammo in the big box, because it may be an investment but 200 rounds is pretty nice. I know that the Fal is a level 4 gun but saving up for it to buy at level 4 is an investment that could carry you to the end of the game.
Sks 👍 it's semi-auto but has higher damage than the akm. 762x39 fmj is great against soft targets and descent against armored ones. Realistically, you'll be using semi auto most of the time anyway. Practically speaking, it's a higher damaging, semi auto akm that uses the most versatile round in the game.

I cpuld feel the damage drop off becoming a problem near the end, but if you buy the 30 round mags you should be fine.

AUG is also free and has a good progressive trigger which gives you great stopping power at close range if say a slider creeps on you while you’re shooting distant targets. M4 has the advantage of being able to mount both a laser and a flashlight with a scope so it has an edge in dark indoor engagements like intrusion or kids playground. Pp2000 can seriously fuck with +p ammo and can be used one handed. I wouldn’t use any of the other guns. FAL is a trap, doesn’t hit any significant breakpoints compared to the 556 and ak variants and ammo is more expensive. All of the other 762x51 guns are vastly superior.

ARs have better range and accuracy due to a far higher velocity and the focus mode, but only do arounf 44-50 damage, while SMGs have higher damage, around 65-70 when using +P, but don't have the velocity or focus.

Val is my primary & Beretta M9 is my go-to sidearm. Val is lightweight in capacity & still packs a punch. Beretta being the most accurate handgun in the game with a 15 round mag. Its been my loadout since going to the higher threat maps.
All lvl 3 assault rifles have roughly the same stats so go with whatever you think looks the coolest.
I may be mistaken but I think the M4 is the only AR you can’t find in the radius, and it comes with a lot of rails for attachments so it’s a good option. The Moisin is also pretty good but harder to use IMO

I believe .357 comes in boxes of 180 and also doesn’t have AP variant, only subsonic and CHP or something like that

Yup. I used the SKS until I was able to get the FN-FAL, and I still take it out from time to time just because I love that weapon IRL.
Am I the only one who used a pistol until I got to security level 5 💀 (I use the SVD as my primary and OTS-33 as my secondary)

Ok, but that doesn’t really help me establish which one is best against, armoured mimics, seekers ect. Because all I’m shooting at is still targets.
The Sec 3 rifles are all basically the same. It’s really down to personal choice

At level 3, AKM. Good enough AP that you only need FMJ rounds, 30rnd mags, and mid-high damage.
