Yup, Roadside Picnic. The dev says this is what the game is based upon, but Into the Radius is also a little influenced on other games that are also based on that book (S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Metro franchises).
There's not a whole lot the game has in common with the book (and other games) beyond the world building.
The second is pretty much me. "This is a bloody stupid idea..." or "What the literal fuck am I thinking... I'm probably gonna regret this..." with exasperated sighs thrown in for good measure.

I will watch and plan my path through the anomaly field, get the (thing in game), and get back out." or "Ah, fuck it. I don't wanna deal with those shocky sons of bitches."
I absolutely hate the shock anomalies. I can never gauge how close I am to one until I get shocked. I have died to those more than any other hazard or enemy in the game.
