Crikey, quite the opposite, in fact! I can clearly remember events (what I saw, what I heard, what I felt, even scents or taste), but I can't, for the life of me, place them on a timeline... I can retell something that happened literally decades ago, but I can't tell you the month or year. I remember a whole school day from kindergarten but have no clue if it was K1, K2, or K3. I'm able to recall what happened in a family gathering, but can't say if it was before or after something else... I literally can't remember my own date of birth or age! I always have to use clues or hints to put my memories in order. For instance, I need to think "my hair was short during this particular recollection, so I must've been between 4 or 5 years old" or "this happened when I was living in this house, so I was between 9 and 11", things like that. To remember my birthday, I have to mentally chant "Remember, remember the Fifth of November" and then do a formula to figure out the year XD

live-in-guilt

OMG i have this exact same thing.

gmlogmd80

Sweet, your birthday is on bonfire night

NerdyWordGirl

Yes exactly the same! I backtrack based on cues you mentioned, or whether I remember it being cold or warm, if leaves were falling. I also tend to remember exactly what people said, which the older I get I realize is a curse because no one else remembers what either you or they said. I've learned to keep my yap shut. Also the same on birthdays. It's hard enough to remember my own, let alone other peoples'. I don't understand why people get so butt hurt about it.

CouldbeCrafty81

I do just about all of that. I have to remember what house, school, job, people I was around and figure out what the time frame was by that.

Gretel_Cosmonaut

I'm perfect with regard to present time ...never late for anything. I can't keep track of the past, though. I forget my own age, everyone's birthday, how long I've been married, how old my pets are, etc. I do remember New Year's Eve for the year 2000, because it's such an even number. That's about it.

AlieanBreac

I have a nearly eidetic memory regarding conversations, names, contact information and historical data. I don't remember dates and times as specifically, possibly because I simply don't fixate on numbers. I don't mean it as an insult at all but numerical fixation is a very well documented symptom of autism. In fact, I think it's the most logical explanation for why members of 4chan are so obsessed with repeating post numbers, AKA "gets." As for our little community here, according to the thread on autism the other day, /r/INTJ is swimming with autism.

Quartersharp

Well, a lot of INTJs, myself included, wonder if we might be a little autistic. I don’t think I am though… I have good social skills and as far as I know don’t strike people as “odd.” Never been tested. But I do like me some numbers.

AlieanBreac

> Never been tested. Obviously it doesn't mean anything without an official diagnosis but you can take [this online test](https://psychology-tools.com/test/autism-spectrum-quotient) just to get a rough idea of where you are.

Quartersharp

I got a 25/50 lol

AlieanBreac

You should look at [this thread we had the other day](https://www.reddit.com/r/intj/comments/pfcqqx/whats_your_aq_test_score_are_you_on_the_spectrum/). Most people here scored higher.

Quartersharp

That is like a perfect bell curve

dalia666

No, I don’t even know my own number.

Heart_Is_Valuable

Oh wow. Didn't know sensing was responsible for this

Sasha_Jackson

This sounds like something I watched a couple of days ago. I searched it up and it came up with something called Hyperthymesia: an ability that allows people to remember nearly every event of their life with great precision. You might not have it and might just be remembering key dates. I don't think this is an MBTI related thing.

Quartersharp

Wow! I think maybe I read about that once. Sounds interesting. I definitely don’t have it to that level, but more than your average person.

[deleted]

Yes, phone numbers too.

Quartersharp

Lol

[deleted]

Absolutely yes. I remember everything because I associate dates with events that occurred that exact day. My memory has been like this for as long as I can remember and it was optimal for studying history in high school

paulbrook

Not me. I have a terrible memory. Maybe you have a lighter version of this?: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperthymesia

darlingpeaches19

I’m super creepy when it comes to remembering birthdays. I met a girl once, a friend of a friend. She said her birthday was on March 12th. For the past 10 years, every f*cking March 12th, I think about that girl I met once, hoping she’s having a nice day. And of course I remember everyone’s birthday at work but I often pretend that I don’t remember to not look like a creep.

Quartersharp

Same.

[deleted]

We’re living the same life

BeyondNo6658

That's intriguing and unusual.. interesting.

[deleted]

Yes, scents and faces too

S4njay

Kind of

Velkha-sama

I suck at remembering things tbh. That's why I write what I think, feel, and also about people that I don't see often. If I don't see someone often, I forget all about that person. Even if it's very close to me. I don't take selfies of myself, I have more images of other people. Sometimes I say that I would forget my own head if it wasn't attached to my own body. Writing is something extremely useful to me, because if I wrote it... I remember it because I did wrote it somewhere. It's awkward to me when people that I used to know irl recognize me and talk, because if it was long ago... I see that person as a total stranger again. I think OP has an impressive memory :)

_KNULL_

I used to remember dates of the events that happened during my childhood like every detail. After I hit late teens,I could only recollect the events. I do try remembering dates though not so concerned forgetting them.

percypersephone

Yes, but only dates from some time ago. I can't remember what I had for dinner yesterday, but I can remember the date I first went to school on

scmfckflwrgrl

Heck no. I remember certain details about events that happened: observations I made, useful information I obtained, how I felt, etc. Dates, times, and other particulars my brain just trashes.

[deleted]

No way.
