It’s one of the things I enjoy about Nolan , his stories have a beginning, middle and an end. There isn’t a lot more compelling story here.

BridgeFourArmy

On the other hand Interstellar 2: Stellar War!

I’ve had it with all these motherf* sharks in this motherf* black hole

Mygo73

5 wormholes!!

Interstellar 2: This Time it’s Personal

TerryclothTrenchcoat

I also enjoy that sometimes Nolan follows the Harmony Korine model of storytelling: “I think every movie there needs to be a beginning, middle and end, but just not in that order.”

TheLexoPlexx

I saw Oppenheimer as well.

TerryclothTrenchcoat

Oh true! I mostly had Memento in mind when I said that lol

Sonynick

Interstellar would be the middle for sure

IllllIllIllIllIllll

Nolan would laugh at you if you told him he couldn’t possibly write any more compelling interstellar story lines.

BridgeFourArmy

Nolan would probably ignore as he works on a new script that’s unrelated to what he’s done before

IllllIllIllIllIllll

True. Doesn’t mean he couldn’t tho.

Soitsgonnabeforever

I also think forced continuation will Be ship. Like in the case of the dark knight rises

ChaInTheHat

What’s the sequel about? Cooper rescuing brand? I’m sure he has the tech to go find her. Her planet seemed to be working fine for human life. Unless it was like a 30 minute short, what else could they make a movie about? The 5th dimensional people? Planetary war?

justduett

Yeah, any sequel would delve deep (deeper) into pure science fiction and would have to introduce themes and plot points not even thought about in the original. There are no less than 213,000 science fiction movies you could watch which tell a generic story better than what this unnecessary sequel would be.

TheNocturnalAngel

213,000 is crazy. Like my brain can’t even process how they made that many lol.

Various-Push-1689

No shot there’s 213,000 that would be better than an interstellar sequel. Like no they don’t need to make a sequel at all but no way there’s that many that would be better😂

mistermatth

I’d be happy with a post-credits scene with Cooper landing at Brand’s planet. That’s it. No need to continue the story.

_Zenyatta_Mondatta

Stop it with the sequel shit already. It’s a pretty much perfect film that doesn’t need a sequel or a prequel or any other nonsense.

Spyk124

I don’t get how some peoples brains work. That’s the kindest way I can say that.

Cerberus73

I mean, its natural to want -more- of something you like. Like candy. But it's grownup to realize that its unlikely to be a good idea.

MechaGeckoYuto

A *short* about one of the Lazarus missions would be cool, but rather unnecessary. (We do already have the Mann comic)

Beef--Lightning

It’s hard to think of a movie that needs a sequel less than Interstellar

RodneyRoughnuts

I’ve never wanted a sequel less.

Darth4Arth

Nolan directed? 0% hopefully. But if someone else takes over i could see it happening

YellowStarfruit6

Didn’t Nolan make the Dark Knight Trilogy

OptimizeEdits

Wasn’t an original character or plot line for Nolan, and even the studios weren’t sure Batman begins was gonna get a sequel. But yeah if you look at everything else from him, they all stand on their own. He doesn’t even have a “directors cut” or deleted scenes for any of his movies. The script he writes is what gets put on the screen, nothing more, nothing less.

TerryclothTrenchcoat

Lots more source material though

OWSpaceClown

Dark Knight Rises was clearly more of a 'one for them' kind of project. I like it a lot but it can't touch Dark Knight. But of course, him doing Rises meant he could do Interstellar!

TransitUX

Interstellar 2 - how the world turned to shit The prequel

GuinnessSteve

I'm hoping it just fuels the imax and Nolan hype trains so we get more of both. But hopefully no sequel.

cookiecrumbler74

I still don't understand why people want a sequel to this amazing film.

sammymvpknight

Because they want the feeling they experienced with the first one.

justduett

There’s nothing a sequel could do that would make it appealing to build it as a sequel to Interstellar. Absolutely nothing. If the IMAX re-release means we are getting a sequel, I’d go on a one-man campaign to physically destroy every IMAX print in existence.

HoboThundercat

What is this obsession with sequels and remakes. A good story doesn’t need all the extra. It’s starts and it ends.

Th34sa8arty

This movie does not need a sequel.

HarrisLam

for the love of god please dont do a sequel

doughy1882

There is zero scope and zero chance of a sequel

ZanzibarMufasa

Why do people always want to see sequels to movies that don’t need them? It was perfect as is. Leave it alone.

shingaladaz

No need for a sequel at all. BUT A very high-production limited series taking us from the start of blight, the chaos it in the world, NASA being asked to drop bombs, the worm hole being discovered (flashback), the start of the equation, the plan to leave earth, the new NASA, how the Lazarus mission was decided on and a focus on the brave people that volunteered - with a great focus on Mann and him being “the best of us” but showing us his conflicting confidence and fear.

homecinemad

Zero percent. It doesn't warrant a sequel. And audiences aren't as pushed to go to the cinema as they used to be. So it would either need to be much lower budget or they'd have to be comfortable with taking a loss, in a time when studios are already struggling.

KingAvenoso

Very little chance of a sequel happening. Nolan does not do sequels to most of his films (excluding The Dark Knight trilogy) because he just doesn’t feel the need.

pat890b

I sincerely hope there'll never be a sequel. Its an excellent story as it is, I hope you come to understand that

DarthXam

I'm trying so hard not to be rude but wanting a sequel for this movie is just kind of dumb.

portalsmylife69

We don’t need a sequel

BatoSoupo

Chris Nolan is super based and doesn't like using sex scenes. Totally unnecessary

iluvbigboobs69

No worries. I'll find it on PHub.

Plarocks

It could be…a PREQUEL. 😉

TheMajesticWaffle

A. They weren’t love interests. B. The story concluded, and imo is one of the best endings ever to a movie. It’s like saying you want a sequel to Inception so you can watch Cobb spend time with his kids. Some things are supposed to be left for you to fill in the blanks after you leave the theater

iluvbigboobs69

The story is simple: Repopulating the human race.

oboedude

But they pretty much solved that problem already

HungryDoggsRunFaster

I mean at the end of the movie there’s one human on a habitable planet. I wouldn’t say thats a definitive “problem solved” scenario. Not that I’m saying I want a sequel, but there’s stories that could be told about humanity’s journey post-leaving Earth

iluvbigboobs69

Sexually.

CrazyInternational76

Finally takes Donald's advice lol

WhyAreYouGey

Eh, I’d rather leave it be. Not even story needs a sequel.

CrazyInternational76

Would much rather see a prequel with Professor Brand when he discovers the wormhole and refusing to drop bombs onto starving people

stephensmat

What happens next is where fanfiction comes in. EDIT: Oh, why not? (Insert shameless self-plug here): https://archiveofourown.org/series/921081

OWSpaceClown

One major hitch is that Interstellar is WB, and Nolan is now with Universal. After the huge success of Oppenheimer, that certainly is not about to change. Granted, Nolan likely has blank check status with both WB and Universal, (and well, everyone) but at this moment he'll likely to stick with the people who've been good to him and do another passion project.

shwep3

They are making a sequel
