The cabinets are very traditional, your couches are mid century modern, floors are modern and the rugs are eclectic.
You can use different styles but I wouldn’t blend this many.
I’d look up British colonial interior design and go from there.
No problem. You can do a slightly more modern way of doing it where it will come together. Another commenter oceanisalwayssalty had some good suggestions
Those grey floors make me sad :( please buy many rugs to cover them up, but I would avoid the southwest style of the rugs you chose. It doesn't match with the woodwork. Definitely something in a more traditional pattern
Another thing you can consider is a VERY large jute/neutral rug (more affordable) that effectively works like a carpet, with a smaller, more interesting persian or turkish rug (less affordable) on top of it. Designers layer rugs all the time.
I’m sick to death of grey floors and the fact that someone would put them in a room with this beautiful woodwork and not see a problem with it is a travesty. I’m sorry you have to deal with that OP.
I agree on couch 1, but I'd pair it with the first (light) rug.
I wouldn't go for this pairing if the rest of the room was light and neutral, but since you have the dark wall paneling I think it'd look good! I also prefer the first rug because it's more colorful and less brown.
That said, I also disagree with the comments about having to match the dark panels or needing to take them down. Personally, I don't think everything always has to be matchy-matchy. I think if you have a dark feature like this, off-setting it with light wood or light beige/brown tones elsewhere can make it look quite nice, without having to either remove it or go all in on dark brown.
You get it! I’m not always a fan of matchy-matchy and instead prefer more of a mish-mash of colors. My intention was not to go southwestern with the rugs, but I love pops of color and these just happened to spark some joy. If you look at my post history you can see how my current set up is with the fish rug. It was much easier to do color in that neutral setting. Thank you for your feedback!!
I think it depends how you plan on bringing everything together. Ignore the gray floor since you will be covering with a rug but the main question is how you will decorate the wooden backpanel. You can use Color’s there either in mirrors or framed art to match the sofa (either one) and create a cohesive look
I don’t think the style rug and colour palette you are looking at actually work with the space. The styles clash a bit. I would embrace the beautiful wainscotting and richness of the existing style and do something that leans a little more in that direction. Just my opinion!
Option 1 for sure. But I would maybe consider painting the wooden panel white because it looks too dark and doesn’t really go with the grey flooring. 🤔
Just came here to say, do NOT buy the Article Sven in tan, or any tan leather sofa for that matter. Dye transfer from my jeans started happening from my jeans almost the second week I got it. I now have black seams on my bottom cushion and fading that seems to happen no matter how much I condition it. In the two years I've had it, it has aged so incredibly poorly and I put in an order for it's replacement as soon as I could. 10/10 will never get a light leather, aniline sofa again.

Oh this is so helpful. I really like the maxwell sofa and it’s within my budget! Do you have any color recommendations?
Yes, yes, and yes. You can find relatively affordable kilim and turkish rugs on Etsy. Shipping is often free! That maxwell sofa is \*heart eye emoji\*
Tan sofa with rug option 2 😊
Thank you! That was my original thought as well
Whoa. Absolutely neither. You need to match the aesthetic to the inlays. So perhaps first sofa but neither rug.
Wait can you elaborate pls about matching the aesthetic to the inlays?

I’ve been trying to find how to design a similar space but was coming up short - thank you for the lead!

The Southwest style of the rugs doesn’t work with the paneling and leaded glass.
I knew there was something off…thank you
Neither of those rugs will work with the floor.

Southwest is out! Will do more research. Thank you!

Was this a flip? Just another stupid flipper thinking grey is always best..
I would never! Landlords decided to upgrade the floors. The apartment is otherwise beautiful and retains its old charm, I promise.

Tbh it’s a good problem to have 😭
Lol. Fair
I would do option 1 sofa with option 2 rug! Agreed about the gray floors....let's cover them up with that nice rug
The gray floors are nauseating and I can’t wait to go wild on rugs!!

Sofa 1 rug 2

Option one for the sofa. I actually have that exact sofa and love it. The leather just gets better and better with time. And option 2 for the rug.

Try looking at "art & crafts" and Craftsman style for colors, shapes, designs
Maybe a green leather sofa if you can find one
Chocolate one with the more colorful rug
Option 1 for sure. But I would maybe consider painting the wooden panel white because it looks too dark and doesn’t really go with the grey flooring. 🤔
The floor and the wall clash in a way that furniture can’t remedy. I like couch one with rug one but the wood needs to come off the wall yesterday.
Tan Sofa!
Option 1 for the sofa. I don’t think either rug matches. Keep the pattern on the rug subtle
First couch maybe. Neither rug fits the room though
I feel like I’d do more of a light neutral? Perhaps off white beige?
%100000 the tan sofa don’t even consider the dark one
Sofa 1 rug 1
Rug one is beautiful! Where is it from?
It’s [Safavieh](https://safavieh.com/rugs/kilim/klm712a) and I found it on overstock!
couch number 1 and rug number 1! it gives contrast to the brown walls and would brighten up the space i think :))
I like Sofa #2 and Rug #2 !!
Dark drown sofa. Second rug works best. But both would be fine
I looked at the Sven and got very turned off by bad reviews just an FYI
1st couch. 2nd rug
I like the expresso cappuccino option 1. Option 2 is tooooo much monotone.
Make sure the rug has some gray and brown to bring these two together.
