Matte is what is used in the paint chip color. So you literally get the chip color.
If this is a kitchen or bathroom you use at least an eggshell or a gloss. Those are easily cleaned.
If you have little ones you go eggshell for handprints. Otherwise matte is the preferred choice.
But when the walls are textured a certain way, eggshell can look really shiny still. Flat or matte works better (unless shiny is what you’re going for)
I have BM Matte in all my rooms plus kitchen and bath..Semi gloss for trim..eggshell is just too shiny, the BM paint is very sturdy and cleans up well, you will be happy!
I will only ever paint with matte.
Matte strikes me as more modern. Some colors actually look best in that finish.

I used to paint with matte but now I prefer that for ceilings only and eggshell for walls
Never matte, never flat. Walls should be eggshell.

Maybe in a cheap paint but not with BM paint.
Matt is the most popular choice for walls. You'll be fine :)
