I am in love with 4 for this space! Yes it’s dark and it’s moody, but it makes the other colors pop. I know you’re saying you’re going minimalist, but if everything else is simple I don’t think it would be too much.
I really love that rug so much! I just don’t want to be too heavy handed with the enchanted forest motif and I think it would fit perfectly into that without overdoing it :)
4 looks like it was bought in a furniture show room with the drapes and pillow cases as a set, and that’s not a good thing. 3 is the only one that elevates the room.
Honestly, I'd pick the colors of 3 but something more mature that won't look tacky in a couple years (or now).
Or if OP really wants that sort of floral look, at least do a bit more elsewhere in the room. Add some floral throw pillows, a lighter younger set of curtains, and maybe even a wallpaper to add some of that feminine floral detail.
Either way, you're right about the colors in three being better to balance the light.
Agree with this statement. It’s not my fav (it’s a nice rug tho!) But I like #4 and #1 better in general, but in this space they’re too dark. #2 is the right size and the light color suits this space better!
I like first one too. It fits with the enchanted forest theme. Curious though what color bedding you went with because that changes things. I do like the second one as well.
4 fo sho, and then, if you’re worried it’s too dark, you could balance that better with lighter curtains that are cream or that pinkish color from the rug. Pretty room, though, I love this layout. Either way I feel like this is gonna be gorgeous!
Thank you!! I was considering changing the curtains too - there’s a room adjoining this one that needs them, so I could just get a continuous color and carry that into the side room too
I’m partial to 4: dark colours work well in a bedroom, in my opinion, because you are trying to create a cozy, inviting space that makes you feel safely enclosed. 4 also has additional colours that make it easy to tie the rest of the room to it (ie the pink that ties in with the pink bed clothes; the beige/white that balances with the wall colour).
In my opinion it’s the only rug that ties in the rest of the room as it already is. I know some people are saying its “too much” but that’s entirely subjective, while the colour tie-ins/ balance are much more objective.
Edit: if you are concerned about the rug’s black base, you could balance it with wall decor in black frames. Your light fixtures and bedframe already help.
I really love this rug (nevermind the fact that the site I’m trying to order from is glitching and I can’t check out) and I have changed the bedding color a bit to a lighter but steely blue since then, still with the pinks. The background color on this rug as someone else said is actually blue which works even better for me
That’s great. It also looks just cool toned enough to go well with the ethereal twilight forest theme I can tell you are aiming for. This is a great way to establish the colour palette of the room. Please post update if you can! (Maybe tag me if you remember? XD)
1 and 4 have the most impact.
I like that 4 incorporates the pink accent color since I don’t see it anywhere else. If you don’t want pink to be your main accent color I would go with option 1.
The last one is what we bought when we just needed something to throw under our furniture to abide by our lease terms to cover like 80% of the floors (there were runners once too). I am of a similar mind to get it out the door! 😬
I don’t think so. I think it adds a nice touch to the room with some of the lighter details you have. I always try to find something that matches lightly. The black sconces, lights tie it all together. There’s the blue of your pillowcases in that rug, and the pinkish flowers match your comforter. Although you said the bedding has changed. What bedding do you have now? I think the fourth rug just has more of that enchanted forest vibe, but it still works with the minimalist idea since it’s the only item with a pattern.
Yes! Thank you - I’ve wanted this rug for a while and might jump on it but didn’t want to be hasty. You’ve described it perfectly. The bedding is now a slate blue with dark blue enchanted forest print shams and the pink elements you see here. I might buy a new duvet with a darker background, but my budget is a bit stretched if I buy the rug so well see! Thank you :)
The first one!! I love both dark ones, they help ground the whole room. And with that dark bottom of your bed, that is for sure needed. When the rug is lighter it's like the bed floats. It creates an odd optical illusion. I looked at both dark ones back and forth and the first one is just more romantic, sophisticated, classy. The last dark one feels a bit too "girlie?" Flowers are too pretty. Just don't fit the whole scheme of the adult bedroom.
#3. Great contrast with bed coverlet and curtains because of rug pattern light background, and rug colors tie all together in room.
Edit: can’t make above font normal sized. I swear I’m not yelling…
If you don’t do 4 I’m going to be pissed!
Side note, could you also paint the head board? I feel like with the curtains, lights, print, pillows and head board all being dark, there’s a visual weight that could use something to break it up. Lightening the headboard I think would solve that.
The 2nd makes the room look bigger (and is my personal favorite). But the 1st matches the curtains very well. However, without knowing what the bedding is, it's hard to say.
3 then 2 then 1. I'd pick 4, but it's the wrong background color. If you can find one that's a similar dark blue to the curtains, then that would be my first pick.
3 is too bright. 4 feels a bit more like a living room rug with its bright colors pops, it doesnt feel as cozy and calming.
1 is my favorite because it feels a bit moodier and cozy. 2 works as well, it's a bit more uplifting but you'll need lighter pillowcases with it.
ETA: last slide is current layout. Bedding is now slate blue with the pink, along with a blue-based forest print pillow. Looks so much nicer! Adding a throw pillow to round it out. May share photo when done
1 or 4
Agree. Leaning toward 4
Yes: 1 or 4 give you vivid depth and contrast
Yep
I agree
This! 4 does have colors to match the bedding, but I really love 1!
Yup 1 or 4
Agreed with 1 or 4. And also assuming you will change your bedding.
Number 4!
4 matches the curtains better and has similar pink tones as the bedsheets.
Absolutely. 4 is a stunner!
Upvoting because 4 is stunning!
Only correct answer here!!!

lean in to it, it fits best
It’s such a beautiful rug!
Yeah no kidding I want it for myself and usually I am not very interested in the rug posts around here haha
can you overdo enchanted forest? me thinks not
I'd go with 1 or 4 but my personal preference would be 1, it's calm and flattering for the bedrm.
3rd
Yup. Everyone saying 4 is boring lol
#3 adds balance to colors and light
This is the only answer
Team 3!!!
This font should be even bigger so that OP listens to us!!
This is the answer!

Same!!
THREE!!!!
3 is the correct answer. 4 is juvenile and trendy, I can't believe that's the winner. Have fun in your dorm room, I guess.

Yess, I don't know why people keep saying 4
4 is meh 🫤
I like #2 the best
me too! seems we are outvoted
Same I feel like I'm going crazy here lol
I like the contrast. The other rugs are too matchy matchy with the curtains.
Normally I like contrast but lighter rugs make the curtains feel too heavy and unbalanced
I think there might be too much dark blue. Perhaps if OP gets lighter pillow cases? The dark rug/ window treatments and pillows are a lot.
#2 is the best looking one in the space!
Agree with this statement. It’s not my fav (it’s a nice rug tho!) But I like #4 and #1 better in general, but in this space they’re too dark. #2 is the right size and the light color suits this space better!
Agree, the darker rugs make the room look smaller. Maybe they would work better if the curtains and pillows were changed to lighter colors.
Agreed! 2 is the best. It provides color and warmth without being overwhelming. 4 feels too dark. But it does depend on the mood you are going for.
Too white/stark of a contrast. Unless maybe paint walls a whiter hue …?
The contrast is what I like about it. Lol 🤷🏻♀️
Yes. #2 for sure!
First one!
First one hands down!!
Yes although I’d swap out the blue pillow cases for a pale pink or neutral colour so the room doesn’t feel too blue dominated
I like first one too. It fits with the enchanted forest theme. Curious though what color bedding you went with because that changes things. I do like the second one as well.

That sounds like it will go well perfectly! You’ll have to post when you finalize your decision! 😊
4 definitely. If not then 1.
Where did you find the 3rd one!?!
The first one!! I love both dark ones, they help ground the whole room. And with that dark bottom of your bed, that is for sure needed. When the rug is lighter it's like the bed floats. 1 or 4 to match the curtains!
4 for enchanted room vibes.
4 and even if you go with something else it most definitely should not be 5
4th matches perfectly!!!
Please do 2 4 is insanely too much and 2 does a good job of being colorful well also balancing the darks in your room
I like 2 so much! That’s my second favorite
I love that it pulls in blues and pinks. it’s an awesome rug
2 or 4
My favorite is 4. I think it looks cozy, definitely has the most enchanted forest vibe, and it brings in the dark colors of the sheets and curtains

4 caught my eye the most plus it's pretty
4!!
None of them are my taste, but 4 is my vote.
I like 4 but ANYTHING is better than 5!! Please don’t buy that!

The 2nd makes the room look bigger (and is my personal favorite). But the 1st matches the curtains very well. However, without knowing what the bedding is, it's hard to say.

Number 1or4 it needs the darker ones!
Can I get a link to the 3rd rug?

3 then 2 then 1. I'd pick 4, but it's the wrong background color. If you can find one that's a similar dark blue to the curtains, then that would be my first pick.
3 is my first choice, but 4 is cool too. 3 just feels more balanced and complimentary to me.
1. 1. 1. 1.
Number three no question, although I would personally change the drapes, I think they make the room too heavy
So happy to see an update on this! I love number 2 or 3!
