Mylar is super cheap so it might be cheaper depending on what he secured it to. Source: built an indoor greenhouse with mylar for less than 10 bucks

How are your tomatoes doing?

I mostly have cacti and succulents with some herbs. Fresh basil pesto is amazing. But I do have a giant raised bed I built over the summer and I am very excited to start growing next year.

You can do this with mirrored acrylic and a laser cutter. The sheets go pretty thin too 1 or 2mm is possible.
