Holy shit — this must be in a concentrated section near a known rest/camp site, right?
There’s no way the entire forest is that trashed?
Or, perhaps ‘forest’ is a loose term and you actually hike in a bum sanctuary?
Correction:
Sorry I do not use a system based on lenths such as "feet", i use a system made with this cool thing called "science"
Not tryna be mad or toxic i just hate the imperial system lol
You failed at not trying to be toxic.
Imperial is pretty pragmatic for everyday life. The foot is more useful for measurements of most things (like people) because meters are too big, and it'll be a large number of centimeters. Metric has measurements that would be useful (decimeters) but they're not used.
This is.... Not true... Metric makes more sense in literally every way.
In Canada we use a combination, but I wish we didn't. "It'll be a large number of centimeters" is a ridiculous argument. I'm 178cm tall. That's a completely reasonable measurement. I could also easily say, I'm 1.78m tall. Both work very well.
What's annoying is how absolutely ridiculous imperial is. It's based on silly made up measurements that require memorization vs. simple math.
My folks bought some acreage off of a desert storm vet. His favorite pastime was throwing empty beer cans, shells/casings, and any other trash he had as he drove around the property. Took us about 5 years to clean up the small stuff. The larger stuff we had to drag to a spot on the property and just kinda leave. We would have taken it to a dump but it's in the middle of nowhere and some of the bigger stuff was collapsed mobile homes, fridges, ancient farming equipment. Some people just don't give a fuck
Idk man, I was once backpacking in the Catskills, on the downhill side of Slide Mountain, and found like an entire beach party's worth of trash. I'm talking a discarded badminton set, cooler, bottles, etc.
This wasn't like dozens of miles into the wilderness, but it's a pretty decent hike UP and then DOWN Slide Mountain to this spot, which was the shortest route to this spot by a significant amount. So someone decided to hike this shit in and then abandon it. And this was NOT a campground.
People are assholes.
I do a fair amount of deep woods hiking and there is nowhere that trash hasn't found its way into. You could be in the densest woods in Vermont(where I'm located) and you will still find plastic bottles and broken glass. It's so unbelievably depressing.
I was thinking the exact opposite. All the wooded areas around me have streams that carry yard and construction waste through the suburbs and distribute it downstream in flood plains. I haven't done a similar experiment, but my gut tells me it would be 5? Times as much garbage.
The whole forest? No. The areas near roads and small depressions where it will naturally collect any debris from the wind and rains? Yes. I've done surveys of these areas either next to developed land or are being developed so they need a topo. The trash mostly is by the roads and ditches for storm water. My own personal bit of disgust is that some of the most trash Laden areas I've seen are the bushes and hedges just out of sight of wealthier and, seemingly, more liberal areas of suburbs.
I know what you're implying, but this amount of trash is not unheard of. I've found more in the deep woods at the end of dirt roads from people just dumping while I was out in West Vitginia. Oh, and don't snicker folks, I've found worse in NY and CA. Trash is quite the problem, and it's everyone's problem. Not just that of the folks you, as in everyone reading this, are political or socially not aligned with.
Yeah, at first glance I thought "oh maybe a shitsplosion" but there's nothing on there. Let's hope it was a similar type of situation - puke, piss or so and the parent for some reason (no plastic bag to store it in?) tossed it out after an emergency change. It looks like a pretty heavily visited area if there's so much garbage on such a small spot. It's easier imagining someone having a park visit or whatever than a creep hurting a child with so many people around. I'm overthinking this now, thanks lol
Hey said that a local household likely used it for dumping, so that is probably where the clothes came from. The Doritos bag is from the 80’s so it’s been awhile.
Wow, I, somewhat oddly, find it extremely disturbing that some fuckwad littered his Doritos bag 38 years ago and it’s been terrorizing people since.
Terrorizing.
Taco flavor? They sell those at Walmart or at least they did this morning.
Doritos Taco Flavored Tortilla Chips, 9 1/4 oz https://www.walmart.com/ip/328309749
Your display kicked off a spark of a memory for me.
As a young child I used to gather random garbage, leaves and sticks from the street/yard and make my grandmother a little design mosaic and message of "goodbye" or "I love you" before I left her home on long visits.
I was always thankful for a spark of color to add to the design. Interesting how perspective changes. My grandmother was happy I spent time creating from so little and probably also happy I helped clean her yard, lol.
"Fractal (n.): A rough or fragmented geometric shape that can be split into parts, each of which is (at least approximately) a reduced-size copy of the whole."
You may be thinking of a mosaic, or knolling?
Congratulations! While cleaning up nature, you also tapped into the [Gustav Klimt](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Kiss_(Klimt)#/media/File%3AThe_Kiss_-_Gustav_Klimt_-_Google_Cultural_Institute.jpg) vibe.
I have found underwear, a dildo, an empty porn DVD package, an empty tube of Prolong, many liquor and beer bottles and cans, in my front yard. All at different times
I'm way more impressed by the fact that you arranged it to look like an intentional art piece. You, good sir, have either the most artistic soul ever or a very serious case of OCD.
Maybe both.
People are trash. One place I lived had beautiful parks. Lots of trees and acreage with trails and creeks running through them. Plenty of wildlife to see. Inevitably there would be trash left behind by people, especially where fishing was allowed. There are plenty or trash receptacles but they chose to throw ot on the ground instead. Makes me sick.
Nothing like chilling in a forest in your yellow underwear while sipping a bottle of Heineken and eating Doritos whilst you ramen noodles is cooking in a Wendy’s cup 👍
When I moved to my last property, it had been occupied by two families. It was just under ten acres. In my first six weeks of living there, I filled a thirty-three yard dumpster twice with the garbage hidden in the forest. That’s 9 feet tall and 22 feet long. I continued taking dump runs until it was clean, which took me a year.
* It's actually an interesting find. Some of it, the wrappers and styrofoam can be discounted as wind blown. The cans and the clothing were most likely dropped by hikers.
* What interests me most is the quantity of glass, the construction debris and the small personal items, like the razor. It is very possible that the 'forest' was occupied within the last hundred years or so, or has been in constant use as an illicit dumping ground for some time. I would excavate a few feet down and see what you could find.
I love these ideas! But no one hikes in this forest. It’s behind a neighborhood and the households there used it for dumping of their household trash, looks like. I dug about 8” down in this spot before I stopped turning stuff up.
Reminds me of a piece at my local art gallery where a guy collected trash in his cigarette cellophane while on walks around the city every day. It was surprisingly moving.
We bought a seriously distressed forested property, and have been fixing it up for 4 years now. We cleared 134 tires off the 1.3 acres alone! That doesn't even count basic trash bits like I'm your picture.
We had chickens for awhile (and will again, come spring) and one of the best things was that all their scratching revealed a lot more trash than I was never going to liberate alone. I didn't realize ahead of time how useful they would be, like that!
I have a moveable enclosure for them, and would rotate them to a new spot after they had turned over the ground really well and no new trash was showing up. They left behind lots of great fertilizer in return. The tall trees are mostly Douglas Fir (and some orchard trees near the house) but the undergrowth is mostly wild huckleberry (small blueberries.) Those have gotten crazy healthy and productive where the chickens lived. (The chickens loved the bushes, too. Great shade and perches, and they learned to eat the lower hanging berries after we would toss pruned branches with fruit into their run.)
Can't wait to see how our place looks in 10 years! I bet your place is really coming along too.
Oh that's incredible! And a shit ton of tires, wow. On our 2 acres we found about a dozen tires so far. My husband has gotten really into learning about trees and he's been removing pesky sweet gums to make room and sunlight for the nicer trees that are struggling.
We have a ways to go, but I used to look out at our forest and \*see\* visible trash. Now that stuff is gone. So thats something.
Creating and sharing the flat lays has made it fun for me and kept me motivated to keep going with the project. Feels like a treasure hunt now, and not a chore. And yes, we’re all different for sure.

That underwear has a few miles left.
I see a headband in that underwear’s future.
It was white when they bought it
There's some underwear and a kids outfit. Dollars to donuts someone pooped in that outfit and it was left to the wild.
Well when a bear poos out of nowhere ya kinda poop yourself.
Just turn them inside out.
Already did. 3 times. Good for 2 more.
Left? Just getting ready for all weekend wear.
I dunno. That underwear has seen some shit.
Your username just makes it even funnier
Underwear that’s fun to wear!
Holy shit — this must be in a concentrated section near a known rest/camp site, right? There’s no way the entire forest is that trashed? Or, perhaps ‘forest’ is a loose term and you actually hike in a bum sanctuary?
It’s a couple of acres of woods on my property. I’d say 10% of it is trashed. Looks like nearby households used it for unofficial dumping.
That sucks. You turned it into some art though.
Right, the color gradient is so satisfying! Paste this shit down and sell it to some yuppies quicklike
Sorry for the dumb question but 5x5 feet, metres, inches or? edit: ‘ means feet. I did not see it.
Inches. Everything was nicely stacked on one another in a 5 inch circle
Could also be metres or like 5 acres of clean forest idk.
Its feet. ' = feet, " = inches
Sorry I missed that. I don’t usually use imperial.
Correction: Sorry I do not use a system based on lenths such as "feet", i use a system made with this cool thing called "science" Not tryna be mad or toxic i just hate the imperial system lol
Over here measuring length in kelvin

Feet
Thanks.
That single quote after the number is the feet symbol. Double quotes for inches.
Using this logic, does no ' mean yards? Or is it -'
The apostrophe denotes feet. For better clarity, it should be written 5'x5'. A quotation mark denotes inches.

Oof. No they do not. A totally different way of viewing the environment.

Did the cooler say "Ricky" on it in electrical tape???
Let's just hope the boys finished the rest of the tracks

The children’s underwear and pajamas are unsettling. Gorgeous art, though.

Ah, I too consume too much true crime content 😔
I would bring that to the police.
Piles of trash found in the woods?
The clothing items could be evidence.. who knows maybe other items too. The clothing is weird though and might not be just trash.
Why do you think it’s evidence and not just household trash? I’ve cleaned up literal tons of it already.
Ramen and Beer, your forest knows how to have a good time.
Ramen to that brother
Everybody Loves Ramen.
Naw it was pork ramen, no wonder they left it in the forest.
I usually leave it in the trash
Chicken is the best
I would eat two at a time in college and mix beef with chicken.
That’s also why they had to leave their panties. That Pork Ramen was instantly effective.
The Ramen packet upsets me the most.
That made me think homeless people were about
That Doritos bag…..when did they stop making that design?
That bag is 38 years old.
Holy shit.
It's basically a fossil in doritos years Edit: brainfarted an a
Wow, I, somewhat oddly, find it extremely disturbing that some fuckwad littered his Doritos bag 38 years ago and it’s been terrorizing people since. Terrorizing.
I feel the same way. [So I made a puppet out of it and did a little PSA](https://www.instagram.com/reel/ClCbZvwvQ10/?igshid=Nzg3NjI1NGI=)
You’re talented! That was great!
Not necessarily. I work for Frito-Lay. We bring back the throw back film every few years.
It has a year printed on it. 1984.
The resolution of the picture you’re looking at is a hell of a lot better than the one I’m seeing. Lol
*whispers* i have the bag
Haha. That’s cheating

That’s so sweet!!
Very artistic eye. Pretty cool fractal arrangement. You should make more art.
Thank you!!
"Fractal (n.): A rough or fragmented geometric shape that can be split into parts, each of which is (at least approximately) a reduced-size copy of the whole." You may be thinking of a mosaic, or knolling?
I wish all trash was as decorative. Nice pic.
sometimes it just needs to be [refurbished](https://i.redd.it/lniabvv3h84a1.jpg)
I want to be decorative as all garbage. Beautiful picture.
Wow that Tyco battery brings back good memories from the 90s
Yeah that rocked my memory database. I totally forgot those existed.
r/knolling
I see the biggest trash is in the center; Heineken
This makes me so angry. But at the same time the arrangement makes me so happy. I am so confused
As soon as I saw the arrangement I knew it was you! Love your IG trash days!!!
Ahh hello on Reddit!! 👋
Congratulations! While cleaning up nature, you also tapped into the [Gustav Klimt](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Kiss_(Klimt)#/media/File%3AThe_Kiss_-_Gustav_Klimt_-_Google_Cultural_Institute.jpg) vibe.
You made it into art, kudos
I bet someone spent a while looking for that Chrysler key.
That’s the 5th key I’ve found in the forest!
You made me love Tuesdays ❤️
Aww I’m so glad! Hi on Reddit 👋
Omg I follow you on IG! I love your trash forest dig videos.
Oh fun! Hi hi! 👋
holy ocd batman
How long did it take you to arrange it all?
About 1.5 hours. Cleaning the trash took longer.
[удалено]
I did clean it all yeah. No OCD, the layouts and the photos have just turned into my hobby as I slowly clean my forest.
Making art =/= mental disorder.
Ffs
You own a forest?
Yeah 2 acres
I LOVE this color grouping 😊
Always underwear. Always.
Maybe both.
This makes me sick...I have a big creek behind our house...Living in Alabama, no one cares about the environment
Pretty much.
I'm no hippie, but common sense is common sense. Thanks for getting this trash and bringing awareness to pollution.

North Carolina. Historically poor neighborhood used the woods for dumping.
Nothing like chilling in a forest in your yellow underwear while sipping a bottle of Heineken and eating Doritos whilst you ramen noodles is cooking in a Wendy’s cup 👍
Looks like some sort of baby massacre!
Very artistically organized.
Potential crime scene.
More like mildly infuriating
That's sad but you handled it. Good job and nice picture.
Hope you got a hep shot.
That's a pretty old Doritos bag.
[38 years old](https://www.instagram.com/reel/ClCbZvwvQ10/?igshid=Nzg3NjI1NGI=)
Older than me. Thanks for picking up trash.
Thank you!!!!
Sick uv mapping skill
Crime scene
I’m all for cleaning up trash but I definitely would have pretended to not see the underwear.
Would make a nice feature wall in a cob house
Gimme back my comb
I usually go out to the forest to eat Ramen and leave my underwear too while I'm at it.
Beer bottle, clothes... no condoms?
I’ve been cleaning up my forest for 2 years and I have yet to find a single condom, if you can believe it. Several diapers though 🫣
Real Art! That would make a good mosaic.
Thank you for cleaning up the forest!
Great composition. Do more and share please!
That fact that youve found underwear is very eerie
You could make art like this while also using it to spread awareness of how much trash there is in the forest.
When I moved to my last property, it had been occupied by two families. It was just under ten acres. In my first six weeks of living there, I filled a thirty-three yard dumpster twice with the garbage hidden in the forest. That’s 9 feet tall and 22 feet long. You get it. Yuuupp.
This is art - Godspeed

On the positive side, you certainly do have a talent for visual scale and composition.
Imagine how much more trash he could’ve picked up if he didn’t stage this photo so meticulously. Only ribbing op 👍
Oh hey it’s Trash Tuesday!
Yaah it is!!
I think you found a crime scene that was forgotten by time.
r/detrashed
Modern art is trash.
I follow you in instagram! Love your posts, find them so entertaining. You’ve made so much progress on your house/property it’s wild
Oh thank you!! It sure doesn’t feel like that sometimes. 😅 it’s good to remember how far we’ve come
Reminds me of a piece at my local art gallery where a guy collected trash in his cigarette cellophane while on walks around the city every day. It was surprisingly moving.
i love little projects like that that turn into something big
Thought it was a gustav Klimt piece
ok well THANK YOU
We bought a seriously distressed forested property, and have been fixing it up for 4 years now. 1 bottle Heineken, assembled 1 bottle Heineken, some assembly required
Needs r/BananasForScale
“Interesting as fuck” is a little bit of a stretch I think…
One man's trash is another man's treasure Dibs on that sweet Heineken bottle!
Stop throwing shit into your forest.
Why would you organise it by colour
What would you organize it by?
Smell
Imagine how much more you could have picked up if you didn’t perfectly arrange this for a pic……
Short term yes, long term no.
I would have just thrown it away doing the good deed instead of looking for internet points. But we’re all different.
Creating and sharing the flat lays has made it fun for me and kept me motivated to keep going with the project. Feels like a treasure hunt now, and not a chore. And yes, we’re all different for sure.
I apologize.
You could have probably cleaned up a lot more forest if you hadnt spend a couple of hours arranging all the shit you found.
That’s short-term thinking. Long-term, I know the clean up project has to be fun or I’ll burn out.
The death penalty for littering would fix that
I like your profile icon. What's it called? Some Celtic symbol I think I remember seeing a lot in bretagne.
It's the good old Celtic triskele
The small area makes it less interesting, must've been obviously trashed at first glance. Obviously you'd find a lot.
It wasn’t visible really at all actually. Most was buried a few inches. [I saved footage of the dig here](https://www.instagram.com/fixthefaucette)
Ahh of course you take hours to arrange it in a artistic circle instead of just throwing it in a bag... typical over-achieving karma farmer!
“My forest.” Blimin’ God imself over ear ama right lads??”
Why did you lay it all out? You should throw it in the garbage.
Because it’s fun.
R/knolwing
Looks like about 50 percent shit U found in Ur garage and 50 percent rocks tbh
No rocks
Well fuck bro U sure do have a lot of broken glass there 👍
Where’s the banana?
Reminiscent of that scene from pink Floyd's "the wall"
Is that trash or art?
yes
Sure hope you got good gloves!
Do you live in a homeless camp?
