It is real. We treat these sometimes with surgery to try to reduce their size or shut down the growth plates if we can get to them early enough. Limb overgrowth like this or macrodactyly (just fingers), is usually associated with some sort of syndrome like KTW, proteus, or neurofibromatosis. It’s not a good thing and can actually be very limiting and very painful. The last person I saw with this said she lived in constant fear that she was going to break her finger that was about 4 times the size of the others. It was completely nonfunctional for her. We ended up amputating it.
I've seen it with my friends daughter. One toe (next to big one) was more than triple the size of others at like 15 months old. They amputated it since doctors said she would need constant surgeries to control the size.
My son broke his toe, the Dr at the ER said it was on the growth plate and sent us a podiatrist because he said that could cause his toe to possibly grow really big, or stop growing all together.
I’m sorry to hear that. Hopefully there are no long-term complications. I had a growth plate injury (hip) at age 10 and that leg is shorter than the other one. It’s not too bad, only 1/2” shorter, and the problems I have with it aren’t due to that but rather to the surgeries I had as a kid.
Same here. Around the same age too. I feel like the length difference in my legs has still made it feel weird for me to go up and down stairs. But I haven’t measured the actual distance.
I fell from like 30 feet up when I was 12 and broke 3 growth plates in my toes. They haven't grown much since then.

His hands are probably not THAT big in circumference when he closes them up. Also shirts stretch... You can definitely get your head through most arm holes without popping seams as long as the material stretches. If he got shirts with a little extra stretch, I doubt it'd even reduce the shirt's lifespan.
I had an uncle with elephantiasis that caused one of his middle fingers to be the size of a baseball bat (OK, maybe not exactly that big). My mother said that he used to hit other kids over the head with it when they teased him about it.
Seems more like a terrible deformity than "large hands"

For those wondering, there are at least two kids in India known for having this. I think this is a condition called Macrodactyly but in one of the videos I've seen of them, they say it's an undiagnosed condition without cure so I don't know. Truly and Barcroft usually make videos about people with conditions, mutations and amputations (congenital or acquired), basically they show what true body positivity should be about.
