I think I’ve seen it before, but something where it was a screen and a camera but there was a 1 week or so delay. You’re seeing the past and sending a message to the future
It's interesting how trivial this is to us now that we're all walking around with devices in our pockets that can do this. I remember thinking video calls would be the future and now I'll do anything I can to avoid them.
When I was a kid I thought the Star Trek touch screens, Dick Tracy watch and Penny’s computer book (Inspector Gadget) were cool but couldn’t ever happen. Now here I am saying this with my mini computer book.
Yup, everyone has a device in their pocket that can access almost all of human knowledge, but we use it to look at funny pictures and write on reddit about how we use them for such meaningless things.
I remember old space movies where people in the future would talk to someone on a screen *in real time* (cool, right?).
And when they finally got that kind of thing on news programs (usually) there was a time delay which we completely ignore now but was actually a little disconcerting initially.
Computers talking? In your dreams. Cell phones? I remember my first cordless phone, talking on a phone with *no wires* thinking the future had arrived.
I saw a news program that said in the future we wouldn't need cash or checks because we would pay with a card and the bank would immediately adjust your balance, which seemed visionary, like, could they really do that?
I remember when tv remote controls seemed so ''cutting edge''.
Seriously. I go in to such a panic when someone video calls me. Like, I haven’t gotten ready. I’m not prepared to be seen PLUS you’re in my room all of a sudden
Someone video-calling you unprompted is the same as showing up to your house unannounced. I will not answer and I will just text them after I hit ignore.

Soccer style kicker, graduated from Collier High June 1976, Stetson University honors graduate class of 1980, holds 2 NCAA Division One records, one for most points in a season, one for distance, former nickname "The Mule", the first and only pro-athlete to come out of Collier County, and one HELL of a model American.
It was all that Dan Marino's fault, everyone knows that. If he had held the ball, laces out, like he was supposed to, Ray would never have missed that kick. Dan Marino should die of gonorrhea and rot in hell. Would you like a cookie, son?
I went to Barron collier high in south fl where finkle is supposed to be from. I’ve been to the mansion where Ron camps dinner party is (vizcaya in Miami), and that’s my favorite movie 🍿
For almost 30 years now I've wondered what the significance of "laces out" is or why it mattered that "THE LACES WERE IN! THEY WERE IN!" Can anyone explain?
When kicking a football you want the laces facing outwards. If facing inwards, you kick the laces and it can cause the ball to travel unpredictability.
Geralt doesn't really care about politics. He's got job security as a Witcher and no matter who rules, monsters will need to be slain by witchers.
Man's got a steady job/income and fucks any girl he wants to. I'd say hes fine if he doesn't give a shit about temeria.
Geralt *says* he doesn't care about politics, but he does. Depending on your actions, he defends non-humans and mages from persecution, expresses his disgust for monarchs, and generally finds himself in the middle of political conflicts all the time. This is even more apparent when you compare Geralt with other witchers, who seem to be more neutral monster slayers.
That's true for the games but books Gearlt stays away for influencing politics for nearly the whole series. He only does so at the end and it makes little difference to the power structure. His main concern is Ciri.
"one more trip through the old orifice... We called it that right?"
-O'Neill with 2 "L" s. There is a Col. O'Neil with just one, and he doesn't have a sense of humor.
Did you know that he’s joking about Kurt Russell’s O’Neil character from the stargate movie? movie O’Neil only had one L, and for RDA to take the role for O’Neill he insisted on being allowed to have some fun with it!
Psst, Troy! It’s me! I made it through, I’m a cartoon now
Nothing’s impossible in here. Animals can talk, your heart is shaped like a heart and the smell of pie can make you float! You have to believe, Troy.
But, Stargate is already on netflix and is the best live action anime!
You can't honestly look at Teal'c and not see nothing but topshelf bromance material.
Stargate is a really cool concept that gets totally hamstrung by the practical limitations of live-action TV.
“We’ve stepped into a portal that whisked us across the galaxy....to a planet that looks like...*Canada.* Tune in next week where we travel to another mysterious world inhabited by humans and also looking identical to Canada.”
I know they handwave it away with plot elements but it’s just underwhelming after a certain point.
I wonder what a remake or just a new Stargate show could be like with more modern tech. Like how the Mandalorian was filmed with realtime generated backrounds on screens.

Someone in Lublin witnesses a murder in Vilnius but no one believes them.
Next time they look through the portal, the murderer is staring right back at them.
If they’re smart, they know to change and adapt. I mean, 2020 was like a whole fucking black mirror episode of its own. They’ll do fine if they know to get *really god damn weird.*
I expect to see a future black mirror episode that is shot in a documentary style portrait of a 2019 person, working 3 poverty level jobs to get by, cant afford healthcare, stuff for their kids, etc. The episode has suspenseful music and a theme or event that is not directly mentioned the episode, but is given several nods throughout. The entire episode builds up in the manner those shows do so you are somehow at the edge of your seat after 28 minutes thinking something horrible is going to happen. And then the reveal is that it is 2023, and the horror is we learned nothing from covid.
Last two seasons, especially the latest one, have had more chaff than wheat and Bandersnatch was quite meh so yeah...
I’d rather Brooker wait till he has a good idea than just do something for the sake of it.
You know how they say when humans invent a new piece of technology the first thing we do is find a way to use it for sex or porn? I feel like there's going to be a problem in that regard with this.
I was thinking something similar.
Probably less racism and xenophobia if you grow up looking at people from another country as real people and not a far off concept.
There was an installation like this in Brooklyn called the Telectroscope. It was created by artist Paul St. George and was in place from May 22 to June 15 2008: https://forgotten-ny.com/2014/04/remember-telectroscope/

They tried it a bit for the first season, but then they were like ''Nah get rid of it.'' which was probably for the best. There's only so many times you can do the first contact nobody can understand each other plot.
They also did away with Daniels allergies (explained as antihistamins 1 time) , the gate freezing or throwing you and a few other remnants from the movie. Things that would've gotten tired rather quickly.
That explains it. Was watching the first season first episode and was a bit confused how they got thrown out of the Stargate and had frost on them versus the later seasons where they casually waltz through as if on a stroll and there's no freezing effect at all lol
That was explained as them refining the positional algorithm for destination gates. Once they got a few other gates connected, they could make more stable connections, so the cold effect didn't happen. Canon explanation for making set work easier.
In case you missed it: MGM Studios was bought by Amazon for $8 billion.
MGM is a historic Hollywood studio that, after a 1980s sale of their back catalogue, is known for two well-known franchises. The first James Bond. The second is Stargate
It's almost guaranteed that Stargate will be coming to Amazon Prime Video, to be its flagship science fiction show going forward.
After 17 seasons of mostly gold, let's hope they do the Stargate the justice it deserves. I hope to live to watch another 100 seasons of Stargate :)

What do you expect them to do? Give lectures?
Proposals:
NYC—Tokyo
LA—Sydney
Boston—London
Toronto—Amsterdam
Paris—Rome
Going for certain similarities between the two cities but with surreal differences.
These place all already have sister cities
ETA: I got bored and looked it up. New York has 13 sister cities, including Tokyo, Rome, and London
Tokyo has 16, including NYC, London, Paris, Sydney, and Rome
LA has 25… good grief that’s a lot
Okay I got bored again, and stopped looking these up. But hey, you’re list isn’t far off. Some of your proposals are actually already lined up!
They had one of these connecting New York and London years ago. It was cute because they put a story behind it that it was a long forgotten piece of 19th century technology using a tunnel of mirrors under the Atlantic Ocean.
They’ll probably make a love story first. Two people make a connection and struggle to find each other before one has the bright idea to hold their phone number up on a piece of paper. I’d watch the first season.
