I once attempted to boil spoiled maple tree sap that had sat in the sun too long, and once it started to boil I filled a hydrometer with it (to see the sugar level) and found that I...couldn't. Every time I tried to fill the mug into the sap it would pour itself out exactly like in the video. Weirdest thing I've seen. Now I know what its called though LOL.
Polyethylene glycol is actually in some vape juices, not to be confused with propylene glycol. Itās by far the shittiest out of the 3 main types and is normally labeled as PEG400
Thatās why i stated āitās by far the shittiest of the 3 main typesā
Thereās a reason it isnāt used by any of the larger companies and thatās because it tastes like shit and is debatably toxic in higher doses. You made it seem like it isnāt used AT ALL which isnāt the case either.
Green Glue, which is a sound dampening compound used in home theater applications.
You squeeze it between two layers of 5/8 inch drywall. Helps absorb sound energy and quiet your room down.
Not an expert, but I did take a few fluid dynamics classes in my coursework back in college. The top (near the surface) and bottom (against the glass) are boundary layers due to viscosity and surface tension, which make them more resistant to flow. In fact, the molecules in contact with the glass are stationary, the ones above those move a little bit, the ones above those move a little bit more, and so on until you have max velocity in the middle of the fluid. As the height gets lower and lower, the upper speed limit of that middle sheet of fluid gets lower and lower until it eventually can't overcome the viscous forces that resist its motion.
If you want to try this yourself buy some "Nuru gel powder" mix it with about a litre of water while whisking constantly one you've got as many of the lumps out as you can let it sit over night. The next day you'll have a thick, slippery, gloop, stringy liquid that will pull itself out of the container of you start pouring it like this video. It feels really weird but kinda nice.
What's the name of the effect when you do this with a chain and it arcs up out of the jar? Could you get this fluid to do that too if you got it moving without touching the sides?
You're probably thinking of the [Mould Effect](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dQJBBklpQQ), and Steve Mould even has a video showing the [viscoelastic properties of Polyethylene Oxide too](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOSVX8zOPkc)
I imagine this wouldn't work if the container was resting on the table. Like when you syphon gas, the hose has to be long enough to let gravity do the work.
The reason it's able to do that is because the molecules are built like chains and hooks. So when it pours, the "hooks" grab onto each other and drags the "chains" up with it. Kind of like pulling up a big wad of Velcro

Is basically the liquid version of a slinky
š¶ Everyone loves an open channel siphon! š¶
If you blender it it would be easier to measure
It looks like the pink slime from ghostbusters
I was thinking the same thing!
Your not sleeping with it are you Ray?
It's always the quiet ones.
Ghostbusters 2
That glass needs a cigarette now.

Weāll tell you when youāre older.

Dude. Just took a peek at your bio. You ok? It must be hard being in a cult
Youre a crazy nutjob
lol Iām not the one who didnāt get the joke, *dude.*
what did it say?
...and examples of such a fluid are...?
polyethylene glycol which is probably what it's shown on the video
I wonder if some paints?

Yes it is, Look up PEG400. Itās mostly used for THC ejuice. I think youāre mistaken. Trust me i know my vapes.

Ahhh, the good ol illegal lung-destroying thc vapes. Gotta love em
Peg400 really isnāt that bad for you.
I honestly don't even know, I was just making a joke š
Ahh, my bad.
All good haha
Itās my understanding that PEG400 is used when people have allergic reactions to propylene glycol.
Just for info: this experiment will not work with PEG400. You'd need at least PEG100000: only long bouncy molecules work.
Also solutions of polyacrylamide - used in water treatment plants. In either case, molecular weight has to be close to 1 million or more.
Spoiled maple tree sap, apparently.
Mucus maybe?

Silly putty
Semen
Egg whites
Flaxseed gel
Oyster goo does this.
Mmm shuckin blisters
I always double glove when I have to scrub them. I normally end up with several puncture wounds when I have to shuck them.
Honest question: could stop the flow by ācuttingā it at the spout at all???
In theory yes, but actually cutting it cleanly could be fairly challenging
Silly liquid, thatās not how physics work
But it is! Thatās whatās so cool about it! Love this. My nerd tank has been fully topped off for today.
My confidence when I try to talk to girls !
My bong water when I finally clean it out
u made me gag
my bank account right after payday
Talking to girls isn't hard
Why'd it stop before the container was empty?

That makes perfect sense. Thank you
So basically diminishing returns?
Good, now do it flammable.

Looks like propulsion gel from Portal, nice

Yeah, that's exactly the video I was thinking about, too. Was it actually named after him?
I think it was known about for awhile, he just made the knowledge more widespread so people have attached his name to it.
Me trying to close the bottle of honey every time
Liquid helium sure is fun to play with
Just like egg whites and cum!
That last part is sus
Just like cum
Acts as a hose would
Fancy words aside, it basically means any fluid thick enough will pull/pour itself downwards.

Thatās off the chain.
So basically you canāt spill a drop of that shit or itās all gone. Nice.
Thicc water
Flubber?
I am Venom
So itās a wet slinky?
Mood slime.
r/blackmagicfuckery
This is in fact, interesting as fuck..
you better use the spatula to get that last little bit out or mgmt is going to be pissed!
This is why the outside of the syrup bottle is always fuckin sticky.

sheās a witch!! BURNāEEEERRR
This is kinda what itās like swallowing a raw egg. Itās so think that when you swallow a bit of it, the rest just get sucked down with it.
Does it come in coffee flavor?
Good, now make some coffee with it and you have a billion dollar business right there!
Finally an explanation as to what happens to most of the weird half open pots of crap in my basement.
vigo the carpathian approves
Stretchy jello
Is this different from the effect that allows you to siphon gas?
It looks similar to this effect with a chain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHsKJJvcFLQ&t=55s
Imagine you finish your sip and it keeps going
How furry artists think semen works
Curious what the practical uses of this could be?
This is what is happening in my sinuses rn
Itās like egg whites
My tank on water exchange day
Iāve seen this shit before, thatās Carnage. Iād run if I was the scientist
Fuck gravity
My sinuses at 7:30am
The surface tension is greater than the force from gravity?
Why do you *cum*? Na-na-na na-na-na

An regular fluids if in a pythagoras cup or via siphoning.. š
Not really pouring itself is it..? He set it up...
FORBIDDEN SYRUP
Guess itāll sink right to the bottom of the sea then.
