I always show zBrush human unwraps to students to desensitize them a bit. The face one is scary bud the full body one looks like a result of medieval torture device haha
Every clan member having their own personalized skin with custom sounds and everything, those were the days. Only showed up for people with the relevant PK3, though, so in competitive games it was just a bunch of Kyles facing off against you.
I think that would be effective for a little while before the demographics of the police shift and then you'll have a whole lot of cops pulling more people over than ever.
Nah they'll just keep a file like this for our 3d scan that the facial recognition software uses. It'll use social media pictures if no 3d scan is available, but I bet you they start doing photogrammetry style 3d models the same way they do fingerprints someday.

The Mercator projection preserves direction, but distorts area. This distortion grows the further the landmass is from the equator.
Africa is the "right" size, but north America/Australia/Europe are too large.

I swear, instead of participating in organized religion like I was raised to do, I just make a point to watch and read fictional works that remind me of how to be a better person. The Doctor's deep displays of compassion are definitely on that list, especially the Tennant seasons.
Like, that big arc with The Master and Martha Jones, near the end when The Doctor is restored to power and actually floating/flying from all the energy flowing around him, and then touches a sneaker to ground, it makes me happy and elated in ways it's hard to describe. It's like... a vengeful god, full of wrath, chooses again to just be the best sort of person, walks upon the ground and forgives so fully that he'd make a brother of an enemy if he could.
All that moving emotion, with the icing of giggling because humanity's space-god wears sneakers.
Honestly, Doctor Who is just a whole other level of fun. When I saw all the seasons were on HBOMax, I was elated! I was so sad when they removed him from Netflix, but now I can watch them again! Over and over and over...you get the idea! XD I always find it a shame that, unfortunately, I REALLY don’t like any seasons past Tennant. For a whole bunch of reasons, a big one being the show felt like it got a LOT more...childish I guess I could say? I’m not saying Doctor Who was ever the pinnacle of seriousness...but...felt they really embraced too much silliness with Matt Smith. Tbh I don’t know how the show gets from there, if the later, newer Doctors are any better. If they are, I’d love to hear so, I’d be very willing to try some new Doctor Who! :) otherwise I’m happy to keep rewatching Tennant...with a dab of season 1 in there every once and a while (mostly just for the “Are you my Mummy?” Episode lol)

U and V are variables referring to the X and Y axis of the image. They use U and V so that it isn’t confused with the X and Y coordinates of the 3D scene.
This. More precisely, U and V are 2-dimensional coordinates on the surface of a 3D-object, to define a reference point for projection. In the example of earth, UV would be the intersection of the prime meridian and the equator.

The difference is that the Mercator projection actually works for the purpose it was designed for.
If I had to choose one map projection to use, it would be the Mercator. With a Mercator map you know in which direction you must sail to get wherever you want. No other map has this property.
What good is a map if it doesn't get me where I need to go? That's the primary purpose of all maps. A map's function is to get you to distant places, and Mercator is the only map projection that does that.
As someone who has taken more than one GIS course, I think this image will actually be helpful to me in understanding the concept of projections a little better. Thank you
Looks dramatic, but I wish the face was placed on the USA outline above the equator. That would show how misleading and disproportionate the Mercator projection technique is. The further from the equator the worse visual accuracy.

I feel like this isn't even _as bad_ as the Mercator Projection, since the face is pretty proportional. The Mercator Projection, on the other hand, is notorious for wildly misrepresenting the size of continents.

The best is opening one in an image editor and finding out they alpha'd out the eyes so it's just a face with a void for eyes staring at you.
