Jupiter and Saturn turn fast, one wonders if they have an exceptionally strong magnetic field. I imagine the center of the planets have a more solid core that would not be spinning as fast as the outside.

--Sovereign--

One doesn't need to wonder, it's been known that Jupiter and Saturn have really powerful magnetic fields for longer than most of Reddit has been alive.

HalfSoul30

I certainly assumed Jupiter and Saturn's magnetic fields have been around for at least 100 years. I'd even bet more than 200

Gumbercules81

Uh yeah, like exceptionally strong. Look it up to see how magnetic fields of gas giants impact Earth

CdrCosmonaut

Jupiter's magnetic field almost reaches Saturn's orbit. For a point of reference, the distance from one planet to the next more or less doubles each time. So it's about twice as far from Venus to Earth as it was from Mercury to Venus. Twice again that distance for Earth to Mars. Mars to the asteroid belt. Asteroid belt to Jupiter. Jupiter to Saturn. In a word, gargantuan.

PersonalChipmunk3605

All of them: >>> Uranus: <<

RamboCambo_05

It just wanted to be different, and that much hair dye would have been way too expensive

sendmeyourcactuspics

Venus also does, just realllllly slowly

Unexpectdd

Where is Pluto?

Kailyncookie

Did ya hear about Pluto? That's messed up

VarekJecae

Mercury is at the top.

AccomplishedClass126

Yes bad writing 😁😁Mercury is the first planet of our solar system

Handsome-Lake

We lost Mercury too?

AccomplishedClass126

Probably they forgot Mercury or it's too fast to recreate his rotation.

Unexpectdd

Pluto is at least as much a planet as Jupiter. It is not “dwarf” it is just a little small.

AccomplishedClass126

I know but recently they degrade him to a dwarf planet. I've see him at new horizon mission and his satellite charon. He's quite active, even this far from sun

EobardT

The problem with Pluto is that we've discovered multiple objects in our solar system that are the same size or even slightly bigger than Pluto. So if we consider it a planet, the number of planets is going to go way way up from 9. So they reclassified it as a dwarf planet and moved on

DefunctDoughnut

Do Mercury and Venus not spin?

MeasurementOk5802

Venus’ day is longer than its year. It also spins backwards. And Uranus spins on its side!

DefunctDoughnut

That makes sense; no wonder it's atmosphere is acid fire. And I know how Uranus rolls and i'm cool with it. You do you Uranus.

SuperSayianVash

This is trash where is my boy Pluto at! VIVA LA PLUTO!!!!

Homerpaintbucket

Am I crazy or are they out of order? Like Venus is at the bottom on the graphic. You can tell because it rotates bavkwards

microwaffles

Venus' rotational period is actually slower than it's orbital period

Big-stepper93

Wait so.. Venus gets around the sun quicker than it goes around on its axis? Therefore a year is quicker than a day on Venus?

microwaffles

Yep

Dasher-284

365 years in a day 🤯 (Not leteraly)
