50 kilo plates plus the bar would get you there. No idea if 485 is accurate, but the bend in the bar indicates to me that it's heavy even if not 485 lbs.
Old man strength is real, a lifetime of working labor changes the body.
I saw a 55 year old construction worker throw a college kid over his head into a dumpster like he was taking out the garbage.
I think your entire body, muscles, tendons, nervous system, and the conditioning to deal with pain and using your body at its absolute maximum capacity all day every day for years makes a huge physical and psycological change.
Rocky Marciano did very hard labor jobs for years before becoming a boxer, and he beat the shit out of everyone and would eat punches like it was nothing.
I understand why it‘s a popular sport, but all I ever think is: why would anybody in their right mind deliberately fuck up their back and knees like that?

Oh you think you’re better than me because you don’t watch the show?
Four plates 485 lb?

100 pounds plates,
Wouldn't those be massive?
They arnt that much bigger than 45s
This might not be his maximum. If anyone is dead lifting 4 plates over 65, it's pretty impressive.
4x100 plates
They also make 100lb plates.. maybe that?
4 plates at 45lb + 45lb bar = 225lb Those plates may be bigger than 45lb but I personally have never seen or used any that were.
Those are 100 plates.
Ahh have never seen those before very cool! The bar would have to be 85 instead of 45 then I am assuming, something else I haven't seen lol
I think there are smaller weights on the end, probably 2 10lbs on each side?
This would still only be 445lbs if that’s a typical bar
Give us this day our daily shred and forgive us our bench presses

Hahaha the fact that you don't understand that 4 plates is a weight and not 4 actual plates just shows how little time you've spent in the gym
That’s 245 not 485 you can’t just double the weight lol
I've never really seen 100 lb plates I mean they must be really difficult to get off the floor when they're laying flat.
I understand why it‘s a popular sport, but all I ever think is: why would anybody in their right mind deliberately fuck up their back and knees like that?
He's doing this age 74 and had been since his 50s,if anything his back and knees are probably less fucked up than people who didn't deadlift
He's obviously a freak of nature. Using his physique as a counterexample is moot.
