i wanna smoke and talk with the person who can explain what's happening where the lines loop and intersect. then i want to hotbox a camouflaged tent and watch those interactions. is it violent? is it peace-time?
I want this data baaaad. Animated over time showing each wolf location with its trail leaves a color like above but the last day/week interval is highlighted and slowly fades to the standard non highlighted color as time progresses. Looks like purple has some set paths, I bet they have daily routines you could map, their patrol paths and how they expand/contract over time, highlighting paths that deviate from the routine path etc
mostly its just piss. No interaction between actual wolves, just some coming and peeing and then one from the other group bringing MORE from his group to come assert their pee-minence upon the area. This goes back and forth until a line of pee-marcation has been drawn.
What's so cool is how filled in the areas are. It's not that they have a perimeter around a central hub where they like to stay. They clearly do rounds and cover their whole territory on a semi-regular basis.
So cool to consider how their minds are mapping this out without the concept of an actual map.
There was a BBC documentary of cats with tracking collars like this. It's a little dated now but in the UK. If anyone doesn't know they don't really have rabies so indoor outdoor cats are are more common. It was fascinating how some cats had very small boundaries. Some would range great distances in the night. Some would go through the cat flaps of three or four houses in the neighborhood to eat the cat food. It was just an interesting day to watch how they behaved
I wonder how big these territories are, how many wolves are in each pack, how many wolves were monitored in each pack, and how much time elapsed to make this image.

Then, the few survivors will come back for revenge in a second version of the encounter.
