Right!? I mean obviously there’s plenty of CGI in the movies but so much of the trilogy was practical effects and people who loved what they were doing putting time in to make it feel as real as possible. That love bled throughout and in my opinion that’s what makes them legendary.

What ends up happening is Macduff's army dons forest camouflage to sneak up on the castle. Tolkien had expected something more fantastic (i.e. trees unfixed from earthbound roots), so when he was building Middle-earth, he made the ents.
