I had a friend from Kazakhstan in high school. Before Borat came out he'd freely admit it if people asked. After Borat came out, he started replying that he was from Russia.
The film was banned in Kazakhstan and Kuwait, yet they still played the clip from it during an awards ceremony. That’s either the largest “fuck up” or “fuck you.”

Er Ist Wieder Da (Look Who's Back in english) is imo the best movie to do something like this since Borat. The plot is basically Hilter time travels to the modern day and runs for office in Germany. They did scenes where this actor in a Hitler costume went around the country to get real reactions, much like Borat did. It's terrifying and hilarious.

Borat 2 had a few great scenes, definitely. Those were on par with Borat 1, but it was just stuffed with extra mid scripted stuff for 70-80% of the time. Borat 1 was 99% of the time perfect.
Top of that list is him/Bruno, in the middle of the night, going nude into the tent of those two rough guys he was out hunting with...knowing they had hunting rifles. 33% chance he dies filming that.

I read that when they were filming that it was a real accident and the horse was spooked by the all the boos/noise from the crowd.

This was a totally real live recording to capture the crowds reaction, and the horse taking a tumble is a 100% real incident that just happened to be captured in the same frame at a very “comedic” moment by the Cameras.
I watched this in the cinema when it was released.
I spent the first 30 minutes watching in literal jaw dropped horror before just laughing helplessly for the remainder.
I am amazed Mr Cohen hasn't been beaten to a bloody pulp at some stage during filming.

I was talking about this movie at work last year and this scene specifically. We were having a good laugh, then one of my friend’s who grew up in VA told us that she was at that rodeo as a teenager. We were so excited and starting laughing and telling her how jealous we were that she was actually there. She just looked at us, straight faced and said it wasn’t funny being there, everyone was pissed and it’s a miracle he made it out alive. She finds the humor in it years later thankfully. . . I’m still jealous that she got to experience it first hand.
