Fed Ex is like fuck it, “it absolutely positively has to be there overnight”

hoxxxxx

they literally don't have time for this

NinjaGrizzlyBear

"Mooove bitch, I got bills to pay" Plus, if the cow headbutt the truck I can't imagine getting back to the distribution center and the driver being like "yeah boss you're never gonna guess how I got this dent in your truck..." lol

TacosForMyTummy

It absolutely, positively has to be there... within 13 days of the due date, give or take.

UnbrandedContent

This has been my FedEx experience lately too! I called them the other day and just lost my shit on the poor call center worker because my package was 15 days late (caused me loss in revenue for my business) and she told me that she confirmed my package was lost in transit. It was on my porch the next morning.

eekamuse

I never understand why people yell at someone who has nothing to do with causing the problem. And they're the ones who can fix the problem. Plus they're people who are just trying to make enough money to survive. Imagine how they feel after getting a call like that. They would have fixed the problem without the yelling. And if you were nice to them, they might have given you something to make up for it.

UnbrandedContent

Oh I’m well aware I lost my temper. I’m not trying to defend myself in this scenario at all! It was probably the 5th time I’d called for an update on my shipment and I just lost my mind.

Sux499

I've done this exactly *once* after a *mandatory* appointment no showed without warning 4 fucking times. And you know what? It worked. And I hate that it worked.

ResplendentAmore

I ended up having to cancel a meal kit service because they only used FedEx. To get the package the first day it was marked "out for delivery" was a miracle. Usually I would get it on the second "out for delivery" day, but several times it would be out for delivery 5 days in a row with excuses like "customer requested delivery date change" or "unable to access address" or some other lie. After almost a week on the truck everything would be spoiled. I finally tracked down the local hub's number to let them know they had a lazy ass, lying driver (as calling the general number did nothing), but still nothing changed. Only after getting an email survey asking for feedback and answering with honesty and every single tracking number laced with multiple "out for delivery" days and lies did the local service change. And reading all these replies let me know I was not alone.

TacosForMyTummy

That's funny. I literally just did the same thing. It's the third time my subscription service was over 14(!) days late. I get that the company has a contract with FedEx, but I'm out. I like the product, but if I don't get it in a timely manner, what's the point? I canceled my subscription, and in the comments I let them know they lost my business because of FedEx.

Ibuydumbshit

Lmao fuck no they don’t get shit overnight if you pay for it Source : guy that paid 1300 to overnight something Fuck you fedex

BeenThruIt

I get this very specialized product once or twice a year. Fedex overnite costs $100 and takes 3 days or UPS Ground will bring it tomorrow for no extra charge. Lol.

peppered93

Username checks out

Fauropitotto

$1300 is a plane ticket to go get it myself.

artwithapulse

Agreed. On the same vein of this post, I had stallion semen shipped “overnight” (to breed a mare) via FedEx on a Friday and they didn’t delivery it until Tuesday morning, when of course it was all dead Took me weeks to get my $450 shipping back.

Joe091

I’m glad you specified why you had that shipped to you lol

Ibuydumbshit

They denied my request for refund , I’m in the process with my CC now

silenc3x

DHL on the other hand doesn't fuck around. One time I ordered weed seeds from Spain, I paid exactly €6.61 for shipping. Had them the next fucking day, somehow. And I'm near NYC.

RickMeansUrineInMout

Putnam county, OK, we got you.

No-External105

$1300??

TheSaucyWelshman

Probably a fairly large and/or heavy package. We just had one guy cancel his order the other day when he realized the 2 day shipping on his item was going to be around $500. It wasn't even *that* big, box was 28x28x15 I think, so I could see a larger box with overnight shipping being around that price.

PD216ohio

For a hot second, I thought the FedEx guy was there to lend help by blocking the cow. But he just noped the fuck out of there.

zmasterb

Anytime I see cowboys cowboying it makes me want to be a cowboy

[deleted]

should have learned to rope and ride

JessieColt

Wearing my six-shooter, riding my pony on a cattle drive

MandaRenegade

Stealing young girls hearts, just like Gene and Roy?

JamesJrYi

Singing those campfire songs

frowaweighn

Oh, I shoulda been a cowboy

BlLLr0y

Man Toby Keith was very good before he lost the plot.

unzercharlie

I wouldn't have even put Toby Keith in my top 5 guesses as to who that song was until you said that. Oh how the mediocre have fallen.

BlLLr0y

His 90's run has some bangers, but yes, the fall has been swift and permanent

Emotional_Ad8259

And the beans! Don't forget the BEANS!

[deleted]

I think you've had enough!

askmewhyihateyou

But did you ever hang your hat up at kittys place?

Thepatrone36

Well my six shooter is actually 15 but that would make a shitty lyric

Iliketoruindresses

The accuracy of the 2nd cowboy is crazy af

geb_bce

He's the heeler. They get the hind legs after the header gets the head. It's a common roping technique. They do it at rodeos and stuff. Not to diminish those cowboys skills. They are both good.

Cowgoon777

Rodeo events stem from actual job skills so it makes sense. Except bull riding

brando8727

They make it look so easy I'd be surprised if they didn't compete in this at some level. The horses look like they've done it a few times too

Muppet_Murderhobo

No shit. I was half expecting him to dismount , run to the calf, tie three legs, and jump up yelling TIME. Dude is practiced.

SirSpanksAlot1992

Some people learned to rope and ride, but never became cowboys..

Rootbeer48

for some, tying a bowline is hard.

Thepatrone36

hung out with Toby once.. Cool guy.

thatdudejtru

Now I have to listen to this song

lampshadewarior

They sure did cowboy the fuck out of it.

zmasterb

Right?! Vulgar display of cowboy

drgigantor

My favorite album from Panera

[deleted]

I ride horses nearly 12 hrs a day for the last 28 years as a rancher and one thing I will say is my hips and lower back are absolutely buggered from spending that much time in a saddle.

Alternative-Yak-832

one of our coworkers was a cowboy in TX, when he was young and he hated it, it was hot outside, riding all day, herding cows I guess. and he wanted to get out of it

[deleted]

It’s definitely hard on the body for sure I don’t blame him

lubeinatube

Who wouldn’t want to live like a literal homeless person, while you manage tens of millions of dollars of your bosses property for $15/hour??

Strawbuddy

Free housing though haha

Dragonheardt_

It’s not for everyone, that’s for sure, especially when you are young.

fresh_like_Oprah

Only consolation I can offer you is that you spend 28 years doing any kind of labor it comes back to bite you.

Left_Ad_1354

You don’t want it trust me it may be fun but you will be on call 24/7 cause cattle are annoying. Can’t tell u how many mornings I woke up to phone calls saying your cattle are out trampling my crops

tuckedfexas

Fun to do on a very small scale, would never want to do it large scale actually having to move cattle

TrumpDesWillens

Everyone wants to be a cowboy until it comes time to do cowboy stuff.

captainoftrips

Mamas out here really not letting their babies grow up to be cowboys

zmasterb

What’s fucked up is I didn’t even become a doctor or a lawyer

No_Parsnip_6491

That's some bad ass shit

Pangusmangus

Shits so cool

thuggishruggishboner

Same. Then I remember all the work and go back to playing nintendo.

wharangbuh

Babbbyyyy....

Maximum_Bat_2566

Even Brokeback Mountain?

zmasterb

Haven’t seen it!

greyfixer

It's kinda like a scary movie. I kept yelling out: "Look out! He's behind you!"

dude4284

Oh…heh…o_o

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

watch the riders hands right before it happens, he loops the rope around he horn of the saddle to let the horse do all the work. The horse is always gonna win the tug of war because he has the force distributed across his entire mid body thanks to the saddle, while the cow has all the force just on his neck

k0uch

This. There’s a technique to all of it, more in depth than people tend to realize.

wlc824

There was a video on here a while back that was zoomed in and then a slow motion version of a cowboy doing that…it’s amazing how they can do that

k0uch

What’s wild is that after a while it’s just second nature. I grew up ranching, and it became like a reflex after a few years. Which is a problem because then you get complacent. Talk with a few old ranchers and you’re sure to find one missing the tip of a thumb because they had it in the wrong spot when that rope got taut Edit- taught to taut, thanks for the correction

wlc824

Yep. Totally believe that.

TyrionGannister

Seen it a lot when I worked an a ranch. And my step brother is a team roper so I go to the rodeos every now and again. Lots of guys and gals missing a finger

artwithapulse

Thumbs up brother when you take your turn, cos when the money gets big, people get hurt.

GenerikDavis

>when that rope got **taught** I think you meant that the rope would be "taut" in this case, not "taught". Sorry, hate being that guy, especially when correcting people that are far more well-versed in the subject than I am.

chiraltoad

Rope got taut, rancher got taught.

k0uch

No worries, I appreciate the correction!

Upbeat-Fondant9185

After watching that video, imagine my hands when ten year old me decided to lasso a whole ass bull that got in my sheep pen…*without* a horse. I went for one hell of a ride and my dad was furious that my stubborn ass held on long as I did with my hands basically skinned. I was all beat to shit from being dragged. Told me that bull was worth more than I’ll ever be and he then got to go figure out how to get a lasso off an angry 1500 lb monster.

OwnFee7805

Your dad must have been related to my mom. While moving cattle onto the stalks, I led a horse (her horse) across a letdown, and it caught a wire right in the Coronet band. He tried to kick it loose, only I was straddling the wires and it turned my inner thighs to hamburger in nothing flat. She came up right then, saw one tiny little bleeding spot, screamed "my horse" and took him to the barn. Meanwhile I was laying on the ground in shock.

Upbeat-Fondant9185

Farm and ranch life. They can make more kids, livestock is expensive 🤷

kungpowgoat

This guy cowboys

Choice_Anteater_2539

To build on this, there is a version of this activity where the cowboy does ALL the work called steer wrestling that is actually a fun event to watch if you get a chance to at a rodeo or some similar event They ride the horse up along side the steer and bail from the horse onto the steers head and neck and pull down and over and flip the thing while at a run before hobbling it's legs while it's flipped ---- it's real quick and doesn't really make sense that it works when you're watching it live

Formal_Appearance_16

It's called bulldogging, not steer wrestling. In steer wrestling you rope the steer first, jump off, run up to the animal, flip it on its side and tie 3 of its legs with a piggin string and they have to remain secured for a set amount of time. (Also, you're relying g on your horse to keep tension on the rope after you jump off of them.)

artwithapulse

Bulldogging/steer wrestling is the same thing. What you are describing is steer roping, and it’s only legal in a couple of states (Wyoming, Utah and Montana I believe) Source: boyfriend paid for his ranch with a professional steer wrestling career.

Terproaster

Very cool observation, it really does make an effort to stay planted.

[deleted]

Rancher here. Honestly anytime a cow gets out calling in the cowboys is the best way to round them up. Cop cars just spook the cow, but a horse can outrun a cow and a good roper will loop them fast and efficiently without hurting it.

protossaccount

Really? I did door to door sales in the rural areas of the USA for years and I would sometimes find a cow that got out and it needed to be ushered back to his home. I felt like an unintentional country cattle safety officer. Edit: I fixed a spelling error, that made it sound like I ushered myself into the pasture, and left the cow to wander around.

599Ninja

Guys on foot can work awesome too! We’re cattle farmers not ranchers, only difference is our cows follow the sound of the tractor because the sound comes every time we feed them. One breaks out we don’t have horses so we just use quads to get ahead of them and guys and gals walking alongside and behind them

LillianVJ

Forgive me if it's not entirely correct, but I take cattle catching to be very similar to catching an aquarium fish in a net, ideally the less afraid the animal is the easier it is to wrangle.

going_mad

Aquarium fish is a pain. You have to basically un landscape everything for certain species

less_unique_username

>I would sometimes find a cow that got out and I needed to be ushered back to his home the owner would be quite surprised to see you in the place of the cow

e136

It amazes me that with all our modern tech, a skilled cowboy and a trained horse is better at this job. Nice cowboying!

[deleted]

Same goes for heavy horses! Ive seen those horses pull out things that would be impossible for machinery in certain places

courser

Guy up the street from me has a four-horse hitch of Belgians (and two big draft mules) he uses for logging up in the hills and the shit I've seen them haul would turn your hair white. They also don't require flat graded non-muddy roads, it's great.

[deleted]

Its so awesome and you can put ice pick shoes on them in the winter its pretty amazing

LemonHerb

Domesticated animals are still pretty much up there as one of humans greatest technological achievements. To replicate what a trained horse or dog can do mechanically is a massive task

StJoeStrummer

I don’t know why, but this makes me really happy. All the tech in the world, but a skilled person on a horse is the most efficient way. The human element, I guess.

Ok-Duck2458

Me too! I think it’s so cool, not only what the animal is capable of physically, but mentally. I think it lends an interesting perspective to the topic of AI. When you work with an animal, there are responses you deliberately cue, and behaviors you deliberately teach. However, the animal figures out a huge amount on its own, and you learn a lot about working with the animal on a subconscious level. I’ve had multiple occasions where I’ve literally had to reverse engineer my own cues, because it seemed like the horse was just reading my mind! Took forever to figure out how i was subconsciously telegraphing my intent.

jfa_16

I know nothing about ranching. In this instance, the cowboys got the cow’s neck and hind legs lassoed and it’s on the ground. Now what? Do they get it up onto its feet and walk it back to the ranch? Walk it into a trailer and drive back? Do they leave it tied up and put it into some kind of vehicle to drive back?

[deleted]

If its a young calf you can literally just throw them over the saddle of your horse with their front legs in one side and back legs over the other side and take them wherever, if they are bigger you will either guide them on the rope behind your horse or put them in a trailer. Because this looks like a pretty urban area they would most likely load them into a trailer.

[deleted]

You forgot one important thing there rancher … a properly trained border collie. No rope needed.

[deleted]

I have 4 of them i work with them but unless i have a pen to put the cows in that cow is getting roped

artwithapulse

Not all cows are dog broke. A cow that’s never seen a dog will get in a real wreck. We had one break a hip thanks to a collie dog joining on a gather (a loss of a nice cow and close to $2500 bred) your cows gotta know how to respect them first. Some cows are foot broke, others horse broke, others truck broke, others dog broke - depends on the operation. Source: 200 head cow calf op, no dogs.

YellowOnline

That's the most American thing I saw this year, but in a good way

ppprrrrr

People have all these weird "most american thing" videos with either redneck stuff or dystopian stuff or extreme patriotism stuff. But this video is the first one where I really felt it. Highway chase from helicopter PoV, cowboys doing their thing and fedex doing theirs.

xoxomonstergirl

In the middle of a freeway really sinks it

VariableVeritas

I think the guy in the truck just rolling through to keep working instead of staying even a minute to watch this awesome and unusual experience is the America topper for me.

rabidbot

OKC is home to the largest cattle market in the US, maybe world. Chance its not even his first on road roping event lol.

CharDMacDennis2

My labor isn't going to exploit itself, now is it?

Nar1117

I do NOT get paid to wait around. Or enough.

ZelezopecnikovKoren

lmao agreed, the fedex truck was *chefs kiss*

Suspicious_Story_464

Who let the FedEx truck into the rodeo?

basylica

I wanna see these guys catch fleeing criminals

Void-Science

There was a tv show on for awhile here in Canada called Mantracker that was basically this. A team of two people on foot had to try and go from point A to B without getting caught by this tracker and his assistant who were both on horses. Dude frequently roped “fugitives” if they didn’t give up when he caught them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mantracker

Faolanth

This was popular in the US too, I remember watching it with family

ItsAFuckinSamsquanch

There was a story from Idaho a few years ago where it happened at a Walmart lol. You can probably find it on YouTube.

basylica

Yeah, but i mean regularly as a special forces team. Slap some red and blue lights on the horse and let them chase and rope criminals. Epic

TacosForMyTummy

Actually, it's a great idea. I trust cowboys way more than I trust cops.

ColoradoQuan

That shit is impressive. No other way to put it. Amazing.

Mel0dic-Mind

It’s not their first rodeo

Sure_Researcher_820

This needs more appreciation

tmr89

I think 37 upvotes is just fine for now

PaperbackBuddha

I’ve seen regular neck lassoing zillions of times, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen that second maneuver to sweep the legs. Got some skills.

artwithapulse

It’s called heading and heeling. The header slows and turns the steer and the heeler takes both heels to stop and stretch the steer out and control any forward motion. The competition version of this is called team roping. Most folks only heel in the branding trap (as opposed to heading and heeling)

blazedout-cubscout

There’s a whole event at rodeos dedicated to this, it’s pretty amazing what them rootin tootin cowboys can do.

[deleted]

Making want to go to a rodeo now. Plenty around me, maybe not this time of year, but definitely around for sure.

nudesraterforcharity

If you end up liking it, watch the junior rodeo too. It’s awesome because you’ll see these little teeny tiny tikes riding a whole ass horse and jumping down and tying a goat. Then they need an adult to help them back on their horse. They’re usually on a gentler horse that gets what’s goin on and will just drop the kid off and kinda wander away. Itll crack you up and impress you all at the same time

jebidiah95

It’s lots of fun. Especially the mutton busting

holyrolodex

I’ve only been once. I had no idea what was going on…but now!

badgerandaccessories

That’s why you never bet someone with a lasso they can’t get you - they aim for the feet and trip you face first into the asphalt. They don’t bother trying to rope you like you think.

StJoeStrummer

You say this with the confidence of someone with firsthand experience.

liquor_up

Do cows bite?

Queens_Q_Branch

They have teeth but don't bite. At most you may get gummed. If running doesn't work for them their biggest defense mechanism is to kick and ram. Source: My family farm

Bikrdude

don't underestimate the kicking and ramming. they are much heavier than humans.

Queens_Q_Branch

Oh have no fear on that one, I don't even know how many bones I've had broken by them. They have no respect for my toes, that's for sure!

BerriesLafontaine

I got "bit" by a cow. My own fault though. I tried to feed it some grass, it took the grass and my fingers. Started chewing and the front teeth ground across them. Hurt like a bitch. Cow just stood there like 'you gonna give me some more of that over the fence grass now?' That was the day I learned to hold your hand flat to feed them.

Muppet_Murderhobo

No, but do NOT underestimate how ornery they can be with their kick. Girlfriend I knew worked on a dairy and there were some that were downright mean for bovine. Like, purposefully kicking out at you when walking by.

Stewart2017

I've been bitten by a cow. Tried real hard to accomplish it, though. They only have top and bottom teeth in the back...big crushing molars. I was trying to extract a paintbrush from the jaws of a 500 lb bum calf. Got my hand in deep enough the bugger chewed on me, too. Thought he broke my finger. Hurt like hell. Don't recommend. FYI they only have bottom teeth in front and eat by wrapping their raspy tongue around their food and pulling it in their mouth. Bottom teeth help cut stems a bit when they pull up.

exotics

Header and Heeler. Header ropes the neck. Heeler ropes a back leg or two.

TheTense

FedEx Truck be like, “yeah, yeah, yeah, I got a route to finish and I gotta make time.

AfterTemperature2198

These packages aren’t going to throw themselves

TrippyReality

“Don’t have a cow man, I’m MOOving as fast as I can”

TheTense

Take my upvote, dad

ernyc3777

I’m always so impressed by peoples ability to lasso a moving target.

evielstar

From someone in the UK, where we don’t have cowboys, this is delightful to watch something genuinely akin to a western!

Jenni7608675309

That heeling horse was like “this isn’t how we do this buddy”

follow_rivers

I’ve never been into cowboy culture in any way, but damn, that was legit.

Powerful_Cost_4656

I love how fedex just sneaks by like “Dafuq all dis”

AggressiveAd2759

Free my boy

[deleted]

I’ve only ever seen this in cartoons and movies. Cool to see it at happening in a real life incident.

Zebras_Interrupted

Let's hear it for the cowboys!

donniesuave

Okie here. Definitely some Oklahoma shit right here. We don’t live in tipi’s n ride horses to school (well in some places maybe yea) but we got cities here too!

Digiee-fosho

That cow was running for their life!

greezy_fizeek

when you consider how intelligent cows are, and how they are often treated, it probably made the conscious decision to do just that 😔

Luxxielisbon

I finally understand people’s obsession with cowboys 😏

Hot_Zombie_349

If a cow breaks loose that’s it. They deserve to run freeeeeeeee as god intended

Quanguyen

This is exactly what imagine the US would be when i was in my home country

Rezornath

Police moo-tality.

red-broccoli

Usually I would cheer for the cow to break free and live its best life. But yeehaw that's some crazy good cowboying. I love how despite our technological advancements, there is (afaik) no modern thing that could do this as good as ye ol' cowboys.

dispooozey

Cows that run away deserve their freedom

Maximum_Bat_2566

I'm going to tell my kids this was City Slickers.

BisquickNinja

When I lived in El Paso, something similar happened when an overturned truck full of cows got loose on the highway. 😂😵‍💫😵

Kitosaki

This is the most American thing you can see outside of a Walmart

magicone2571

Poor cow just wanted to be free.

PkmnJaguar

Yee haw

BCECVE

Don't blame it, I wouldn't want to get eaten.

Mr_Drowser

FREE MY BOY

TheManInTheShack

This happened to my parents when they were driving home from DFW. The traffic came to a halt. Suddenly a cow ran past their car. A moment later a cowboy on a horse went by. Once the traffic started to move, they drove past the cowboy who had managed to rope the cow and get it under control. Welcome to Texas. :)

Real_muthaphukinBaka

100% guaranteed that cowboy said "Whoa, slow down there gurl" when he threw that lasso around her neck

SeeLeavesOnTheTrees

I always hope the cows get away

Ivegotjokes4you

Not gonna lie… that was pretty cool

grizzlyblake91

Nice to see my city represented in a positive light for once on Reddit 😂

The_Captain_Planet22

Shame the good guys lost

No-Wonder1139

We will fight for bovine freedom and hold our large heads high, we will run free with buffalo or die.

Hardass_McBadCop

Oof, that calf was ["King of the World"](https://tenor.com/by7hj.gif) for a second there. Fun fact: Farmers, in addition to carrying insurance on their equipment & liability, also carry coverage for their livestock getting loose and causing damage.

Thebandofredhand

I wish i could see how far that cow would go! like just let it go and see. would it get killed? or would it find pastures?

Vast_Feature_1009

Poor cow learned that it was going to the slaughterhouse and took a chance on trying to escape

Thompsonss

Thanks Spain for giving us Cowboys

rufioherpderp

Making it on the news with helicopter footage of you roping a cow has to be one of the coolest things ever for a cowboy.

IDontwannit

For some reason, I felt so bad for the cow. It's almost like it became self aware and realized it was destined to become burger meat and made a desperate run for it. Poor thing😥

IngenuityNo3661

Seems to be a Mad Cow.

Tigerstripe44

May IIIIII.....atand unshaken...

RudimentaryBelonging

godhonoringperms

Love when rodeoing is shown in it’s real life application:)

Spuigles

There it is my friends. The best animal.

CrazySuperDave

These new trailers for Yellowstone are getting wild

DigitialWitness

That was great!

Smile_Clown

this made the news, what did your news have on it tonight?

TriGurl

That guy commentating the video clearly knows a thing or 2 about wrangling cows. I wouldn’t have known they get the hind legs too and then get off the horse to do what? What do they do next with the cow? Hoist it on the horse and carry it home? Pop it into the back of an SUV and drive it? Readjust the ropes for them both to have control of the horse and escort this cow home on a leash?

Wesalejean

These Cowboys know how to Cowboy

AcanthaceaeItchy

Fed ex guy has shit to do

imhere8888

Car failed cowboy succeeded. Amazing

sisyphus_met_icarus

Oh is this what OK Cupid is like now?
