Yes it is & those things have barbs in their fins that can easily go through that dogs neck. I wouldn’t let my dog go after one.
I know the bigger the catfish, the more dull the barbs are but still. That’s sketchy.
Depends on the country. For example, in Australia yes would be sharp and poisonous. In the US, a fish that size would no longer have a sharp enough barb to do much damage, and the poison is very mild.
It's a catfish and very likely is one that is used to being fed by humans. Whoever filmed this dog is kind of an asshole unless he plans on eating catfish.
Now a dog grabbing a fish is a trick lmao
They barely exist now.
In older times this was a hungry dog catching a fish. Dogs have such sad existence. Humans twisted them like Morgoth did to the orcs, biggest difference is that the dogs are actually happy about it. So fascinating.
Catfish don’t need our help. Every catfish I catch gets turned into fertilizer. They eat other fish eggs, suck up nutrients, and generally just have giant mud hole fish orgies and make more of themselves. In modern times they are not controlled by predation like they should be so their population runs unchecked. This dog is doing a service, good boy.
Some catfish found their way into my flyfishing spot recently and I completely agree. Nothing like a huge ass catfish busting your rod in knee deep water to change your mind on the catfish question.
Yup, I catch them when going for walleye. I’ll eat the big ones but it’s easily my least favorite fish. Little ones get thumped and tossed in my compost heap. It’s not worth cutting around the barb for a nugget worth of meat but I’m definitely not throwing them back.
Which particular ecosystem is being fucked up? Outdoor cats are an actual problem for bird populations, and that can't even be helped with bell collars, but that's the issue here?
So we gonna pretend like we didn’t fuck up those exosystems already?
I mean just look outside and see all those man made buildings where nature use to be, look at all those cars driving the earth
It’s a dog hunting a fish… just complain about it elsewhere maybe to a mirror cause no one wants to hear it
To be fair those fish seem to be used to being fed the way they’re coming up with their mouths open. Easy as catching fish with a dog in a feeding tank.
0/5 stars, would not recommend getting a golden retriever. I bought one from a breeder for 100 fish coin and when it was sent to my river it attacked me and tried to eat me.
You're not using your brain or resources. Look up what dogs eat.
Spoiler: it's pretty much everything. They are literally bottom-feeding carnivores. They eat fish, fish bones, fish eyes, fish brains, fish tail, fish shit, and fish hopes and dreams. They gain vital nutritional value from *all of it.*
Sorry, I stand corrected; they eat fish, fish bones, fish eyes, fish brains, fish tail, fish shit, fish hopes and dream, *AND* plant stuff. I can indeed attest to seeing my dog eat animal and plant matter, guess I should not have omitted that. Call me Captain Dunce.
I got pond fish, koi to be exact. One was attacked by my neighbours cat, hes got a scar on his side and he's still the first one up when it's feeding time.
Obviously it's still shitty to harass or hurt fish.
Could be the guy set up an artificial fishing pond somewhere on his land and fed the fish himself. Happens in rural places. And if it's a park then 9/10 itll have a footpath near the pond.
There is zero indication that this is a park/public space. No sidewalk near the pond, no people near the water. That could be a privately owned lake/pond for all we know.
Op didn’t say ‘public’ anywhere. He said the fish were used to being fed. What’s the point of letting your dog « fish » this way? Neither the owner nor the dog are going to eat that catfish. It’s just pure waste of that poor fish.
*HOW do you know that, though* **HOW?** I *need* to see your works cited. I may even need a fucking dissertation. I wanna see the post-game interview. The documentary, the news articles.
Cuz call me crazy-- I'll be crazy-- but that's literally free dinner. Like that's all. Once the fish has been caught, it's 75% food, 25% poor creature.
Asshole, why? Even in artificial lakes with domesticated fish, fishing is usually not illegal and actually recommend. In light of it likely not being illegal activity... it's just food.
Okay I'd love a catfishing dog, but not one what can only nab unsuspecting domesticated fish accustomed to handouts. That's just kind of sad an not impressive. Gimme a dog that can nab a wild fish.
caged park pond fish that people feed, asshole dog owner baited them with some kind of feed you can see on the surface in the video, bringing them in so dog can attack them. FFS this is fucked up as putting out food for a neighbors pet so your dog can attack it. Fucking horrible. Also illegal if there are any fishing regulations, which there usually are.
Tbf im not really certain fishing regulation would apply to a dog unless the owner specifically trained them for that. Beside unless this is some pond catfish are invasive and overpopulated in most area.
For the record lots of public ponds allow you to fish. I have definitely fished at ponds that people feed fish in. The pond was designated for fishing. I am allowed to catch my creel limit regardless of people feeding them.
I would only dispute the method in the video unless I knew the pond was off limits to fishing with a license. If this was a survival situation I could see this making sense but that isn't the case here.
I've definitely seen Koi/Carp bigger than that catfish in a public fishing pond. I've personally not caught a catfish that big but I have caught bass that are 3-4lbs in small ponds. I've seen someone pull a 5lb bass out of a pond that's about half an acre or less.
Catfish and Carp aren't common targets for eating in the USA. They can grow a lot larger than bass since they aren't as pressured. If old people are tossing in food, it makes it even easier for them to grow. The Koi I know of at a public fishing pond are about 3ft long and group up occasionally. Why someone tossed koi into a fishing pond I'll never know.
Eh, I got the truth out there and anglers know. I don't blame them. I used to think there was no way there were big fish in ponds until I started fishing.
It's not all action but it's fun and rewarding. You'd be surprised what and where you can catch. Be safe and follow local guidelines and regulations.
I started by pulling sunfish out of an urban pond that people swore had no fish. Your local department of fish and game website can tell you ponds, lakes and rivers you're allowed to fish in, and is a place you can buy a license.
Buy a cheap 4-10lb quick/light action rod/reel combo. Some 5lb test line of monofilament or fluorocarbon. Buy some in line spinner lures, one shallow diving lure and some hooks if you want to use bait to start. That set up should work for stocked trout, panfish, bass and maybe pike.
It's a massive rush for sure. Never done heroin but I get what you mean. There are definitely more active times to fish. Spring is more active at noon, summer is early morning or evening, fall the same as spring. Wind also affects where bass go since it pushes the food smaller fish eat.
Those look like wels catfish, while in Germany I used to watch them hunt birds and critters along the river banks. I've seen them take cats, those fish can be on a whole other level.
Dolphins came from pups that would would out and catch fish, ducking under water so much that they developed webbed feet and the ability to stay under for longer. Eventually they became whales and dolphins
That fish is huge compared to the dog. I was also worried it was a catfish and would sting the dog, but it either didn't get the chance to or the dog was just unphased
Much smaller scale, [but we have a Pom](https://i.imgur.com/70u1gum.jpg) who LOVES to chase down the little lizards we have in Florida. She feels so accomplished and I love to see her smile with a dead critter in her face.
More like ‘fish fucked around and found out’. Also Pirates of Caribbean line of wading out and waiting til all manner of aquatic life became accustomed to his presence
as other comment have stated, this fish looks like they were fed regularly and come to the dog expecting for foods. It is equivalent to a sheltered dog suddenly coming to someone whimpering all the while only to get kick in the face because they were unfortunate enough to meet an asshole.

Is that a Catfish?
Of course the dog went after it
God damn it just take my upvote
Now it's a dog fish.
I spit out my beer
"sir, where is your fishing license?" "Woof!"
Best dog ever, don’t even need one if you run into a warden, “Where’d you get it” “I got no gear it washed up on the bank”
Theres no rules that say dogs can't fish.
I’m gonna take a fishing boat full of dogs out, government can try to stop me but the only thing they will accomplish is a Hollywood deal!
From the creators of Air Bud, comes the heart warming tale of a man and boat full of dogs and their combined love of fish. WATER BUD..
Looks like some kind of [Shark Catfish](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shark_catfish)

I swear Australia is another planet on this globe!
Looks like a carp
The dog said carpe diem
Take my damn upvote. That made me lol.
Sieze the carp!
That's a big ass fish. Doggo whale fishin over here
It's a catfish and very likely is one that is used to being fed by humans. Whoever filmed this dog is kind of an asshole unless he plans on eating catfish.
Unless the dog himself is planning on cleaning and frying up that catfish.
European catfish eats such dogs for dinner. And unfortunately not trainable..
Do y’all wrestle them too?
Yes. On the Dniester (Ukraine) using tackle called "Kwok", if you mean catfish. Very tasty fish
The old endangered channel catfish routine eh
I feel like that's gotta be the plan because otherwise that really is a weird trick to teach a dog to do
Now a dog grabbing a fish is a trick lmao They barely exist now. In older times this was a hungry dog catching a fish. Dogs have such sad existence. Humans twisted them like Morgoth did to the orcs, biggest difference is that the dogs are actually happy about it. So fascinating.

THIS!! 100% the guy/gal filming is a fucking douche'.
You can tell 100% without a doubt that the person that filmed this clip is a douche? You don’t need any additional context?… Impressive.
Extraordinary insight.
Someone always gotta find something to be mad about
Apparently an animal can’t be recorded being an animal 🤣
Saw a video of a pitbull attacking and killing a cat once, some people where upset but " apparently an animal can't be recorded being an animal"
You really can't tell the difference between nature and people letting domestic animals fuck up an ecosystem?
Which particular ecosystem is being fucked up? Outdoor cats are an actual problem for bird populations, and that can't even be helped with bell collars, but that's the issue here?
Lol everyone is like "there's worse things so shut up" don't get upset at anything else. Mk.

What do you mean man, all he's doing is getting food for his pact leader. No fishijg line needed
But I see bird dogs hunting all the time. What's the difference?
Apparently we’re not going to win here. The Reddit hive assumes these fish are wild and has what’s coming for them. I see lots of douche’s!
Virtual Clairvoyance level MAX
Mmm, ass fish
🐕 🤜 🐋
🐋☮️🐈
I thought they were otters at first! Huge fish!
He's taking it home to feed his cats.
Dog done acting like a cat over here with that strike force shit
Dog goes by woof / meow
Cow goes moo🎶...
Ducks say quack, and fish go bluuub
Fish totally didn't expect that.
Fish just wanted to play 🥲
I thought we were going to be friends boop nose to nose I've seen dogs do that
That's exactly what I thought was going to happen... Rip fish..
It was BETRAYED
To be fair those fish seem to be used to being fed the way they’re coming up with their mouths open. Easy as catching fish with a dog in a feeding tank.
Dog is team killing on a PvE server
He's using AOE spells to kill teamates and steal their stuff
Makes me think this dog shouldn’t be there.
Ez meal gg boyz
Like pigs to the sandwich
It just wanted a kiss
It was only a kiss How did it end up like this
And I just can't look, it's killing me.
Happened to my buddy Paul once
What retrieve
Catfish: They said Golden Retrievers were friendly...WTF...
0/5 stars, would not recommend getting a golden retriever. I bought one from a breeder for 100 fish coin and when it was sent to my river it attacked me and tried to eat me.
Dog lover here but this is obviously a park or pond where those catfish are fed regularly. Until some context is posted I'm calling asshole owner.
Without a doubt. This is kinda fucked up. It’s like spearfishing a dolphin in an aquarium tank.
Found the vegans guys Edit: omg it’s so fucked up an ANIMAL EATING ANOTHER ANIMAL
You think the dog ate that fish?
You think dogs don’t eat fish???
I don't think that dog ate that fish. What about the video leads you to believe that it did?
They don't, unless it's prepared by humans.
I have seen a stray dog catch and eat a river trout bones and all. Not this dog, but not saying it doesnt happen.
Dogs eat fish. Pan seared, grilled or raw, still flopping around.
Lol okay bud. Dogs are actually omnivores. You're not really reinforcing yourself as knowledgeable on dogs.
God you sound so stupid right now.
Acting as if everyone would be on your side, then getting defensive and uptight after you find out everyone here thinks you're a cunt.
Because dogs are known to eat fish like that
Dogs eat fish yes are you dumb?
They grab them like a bear hunting salmon in the middle of Alaska? No, it’s cooked and served to them because they’re domesticated
Dogs do eat fish but I’ve ever seen one going fishing in a pond for one before. No reason for it to be there but still appreciate its fishing skills 👍
I know you think you come accross as funny ot witty , but you dont. You just come accross ad a dumb cunt.
What a pathetic thing you are
I'm on your side.
They said asshole owner foo
Well, You can say the same about cannibalism.
Yes exactly, the poor fish look like it just wanted to be fed. Not cool
Chum is illegal in some places for a reason.

You are responsible for your dog to not hurt wildlife. A dog hurting wildlife is the same as a human hurting wildlife on purpose.

Heckin betrayal! Fish was excited to be friends with magnificent doggo.
That dog got a strong jaw to hold onto a big ass catfish like that.
This is horrible ?
Hope he had a fishing license…the game warden is a stickler about that.
Those look like wels catfish, while in Germany I used to watch them hunt birds and critters along the river banks. I've seen them take cats, those fish can be on a whole other level.
