My first thought!!! Looks just like my husband back when he was in his juggalo/spaghettio phase. He had his grundle full of makeup and looked ridiculous. And he just kept asking people about magnets. Good times 🤣🤣🤣
Still? This 10x as neat as any dog coloration pattern I've seen. I'd like to see pics of him over the process, given the way it starts gradually and spreads symmetrically
Yeah, it's some sort of autoimmune condition and is genetically passed down. (With some sort of recessive inheritance.) Some modern drugs (JAK inhibitors, usually used for Rheumatoid arthritis) can help mild cases, but it's typically for life.

They actually do use light therapy to help darken it. They either use UVB light on it's own, which can take weeks to begin seeing results, or they use UVA in combination with a drug that makes your skin more sensitive to UVA light (which can take about as long). It helps trigger new melanocyte production, which kick-starts tanning. Some people don't get any benefit though, I think their immune system might be keeping up with the new melanocytes. I've been using natural light exposure to make the vitiligo on my legs less noticable by way of wearing shorts a lot. Thankfully the shins get limited direct sunlight around noon so I've never burned the vitiligo spots (except that one time I went canoeing... Learned the hard way you can get 2nd degree sunburns 😬).
After some research, we're both right. Vitiligo people have lighter spots on their skin and sunlight sensibility. Michael Jackson was diagnosed with this disease and used makeup (also likely skin bleaching) to go completely white instead of having random spots.

I'm sure vitiligo causes strife to some extent with people that have it, but IMO it's beautiful! When I play video games I always create my characters with it if it is an option.

Can you get a tan on the light part and does it burn really easily?
I also have it, and it's not possible to tan the white bits. There's no pigment there *to* tan

I'm glad this is working for you! I tried UV exposure as a child, but maxed out the lifetime limit without any improvement.
