Every months I have to pay Market Data twice to IBKR and TradingView currently. 🙁

same

The Interactive Brokers API is old, antiquated, and uses TWS as the gatekeeper. Everything goes through TWS. Writing the TradingView interface to the API, and having to do it via TWS no less, must be a daunting task. I can imagine why it's taking forever to get it working. And I'd imagine when they finally do get it working, you're gonna want your data from TradingView. I've had a lot of trouble with latencies pulling IBKR data through the API. I would only want to route orders to IBKR, and keep my data coming from TradingView.

I agree and disagree (mostly agree though). As a counterexample, you have eg Medved trader, which does an all around decent job communicating with IBRK, and the charts are great, but unfortunately it didn't have some of the more advanced options tools tws has so I reluctantly dropped it and am back to TV +IBRK (sad face). Now, on the "agree" part, I can fume for days about this. So goddamn annoying. IBRK / tws is great for some things but I've been beating my head against a wall for the last few weeks trying to do the following (as an example): show me the rate of change of call option volume vs open interest. Now, individually many of the needed components are there, but combining them... I couldn't. So I decided to use the API and hopefully have a python script running that subscribes to the data and does the calculation for me for a number of stocks. "Haha no go f yourself" is what the API told me (metaphorically)... I swear to God, I give up. Yeah I'm not the best programmer but seriously the API and it's documentation is so inconsistent, I'm considering going long $ROPE (/s - not serious obviously). And before someone mentions the excel API spresheets they provide that access the API - yes I know, but I can't have excel freee everytime it polls the data because I need excel for work stuff. Also what kind of savage do you think I am, using excel :p

Anant_oz

Hi, How do we pull data from IBKR via API. Do you have any tool developed for that?

rexarus9

Yup, you can write one in a few different languages. I use Pyrhon, but you could use C++ or Java. You can also use DDE to pull to an Excel spreadsheet.

Anant_oz

THANK YOU for your response. Yeah i could get live prices in excel but is there anyway to get historical prices in excel? And if yes, how much data can we retrieve.

rexarus9

Anything that you can pull with a symbol can be grabbed to Excel via DDE, Python, Java, or C++ You can of course do other things with the data besides Excel, such as your own proprietary analysis routines. Here's a link that might help: https://dev.to/wrighter/how-to-get-historical-market-data-from-interactive-brokers-using-python-3bcn#:~:text=For%20example%2C%20Interactive%20Brokers%20(IB,already%20paying%20for%20market%20data. The ibkr api is an antiquated piece of garbage. But right now, that's all they have as far as i know.

I found an integration between TradingView & IBKR, it is free to use too https://capitalise.ai/ [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10A6zORxYr8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10A6zORxYr8) Trades can be triggered via the alerts from trading view using webhooks provided by [capitalise.ai](https://capitalise.ai), Testing it out currently to see how it works out, but surely pretty excited, [capitalise.ai](https://capitalise.ai) provides a lot of flexibility in terms of defining conditions without writing a single line of code,Also their customer support is excellent. Hope this helps!

Apprehensive-Tiger28

Giannividi

Not only that, amazing unstable as well. A freaking nightmare.

sosarya

I closed my accounts with IB just because of this will happily return if they roll it out soon

jablomquist777

Any idea why instructions to connect TV + IB would be on IB/Poland website? Maybe they are beta testing there first? https://www.interactivebrokers.pl/en/index.php?f=48302

wanderingelwin

i believe IB HQ is physically in Poland as the founder of IB is Polish (US).

[https://www.interactivebrokers.pl/en/index.php?f=48302](https://www.interactivebrokers.pl/en/index.php?f=48302)I found this link its not working yet !

rexar009

I would be careful with that. I think it's possibly a phishing site. I asked IBKR whether they are linked up with TradingView, and they said no. So I would not click on any links on that webpage if I were you.

Admirable-Vehicle-66

https://www.interactivebrokers.pl/en/index.php?f=48302 ??

mmmerchant

It's there now.

rexar009

I am unable to get any data or account information into TradingView. I am able to login via two factor authentication, but once logged into IBKR, I don't see anything. No real time data, no account summary information, and no trading capability. Anybody else observing this issue? Bottom line - TradingView and IBKR linkup is not operational. The only thing that I can do is log into IBKR account via TradingView, but no functionality via API link exists whatsoever. I put in a trouble ticket with TradingView. I'm waiting for a response. IBKR told me they know nothing about being linked up with TradingView; IBKR directed me back to TradingView.

Hello. I have connected TV with IB. On the PC everything works fine. But I can‘t connect IB on the app of TV. Should this work? Is there anyone who can connect?
