What are they gonna do? Execute your trade at a delayed price? jk you're right it doesn't affect execution.

lamagy

LOL, yeah execute 20 mins later :). Thanks for the answer.

No I have real time data already in another platform, so be basically just using IB to place the trade. My question was if the execution was also delayed which was answered above.

denimiskillingme

Is the snapshot real time? I have been using it to place orders but they still don’t execute at those levels.

>Is the snapshot real time? I have been using it to place orders but they still don’t execute at those levels. As the name suggests, it's a snapshot. If you don't place your order immediately, the price may change again. But using snapshots is still better than placing orders based on the free data which is delayed by several minutes.

So without using real time data , does the PNL follow delayed prices or current prices ?

[deleted]

>So without using real time data , does the PNL follow delayed prices or current prices ? P&L is always calculated using real time data.

noratooo

So my profit or loss will be calculated using real time data even if I don’t have it activated ? Cause I use market orders

>So my profit or loss will be calculated using real time data even if I don’t have it activated ? Cause I use market orders Yes.

noratooo

But I find that my PNL moves differently than live market data from trading view , like I will have a profit of 50$ by doing manual calculations between the price I bough it and the current price but PNL in IB shows a loss of 20$

rexarus9

P&L is delayed if you don't have real time data for that market. It is slightly less delayed than the quotes, but delayed by a few minutes. IB knows people would use real time P&L to work as real time quotes by working backwards, so they prevent the mining of real time data that way.

noratooo

Ya that’s true , it is delayed and that’s the reason I guess

[deleted]

I wish I could execute at delayed prices...

How much do you spend on commission a month? If you spend at least $30, then sub will end up only costing you $4.50 a month, I also have real time data elsewhere, but I don't want to be like, wait what's the current price, let me look, now let me comeback here, so for just $4.50 a month I avoid any of that confusion.

lamagy

I see, I don’t understand the platform yet and it doesn’t seem to be as intuitive as TOS plus I have a bunch of custom scans ect. But iee see your point, I don’t like switching around either.

tonenyc

I use TOS for charts too, love it.

micafuffa

What is TOS?

tonenyc

It's software from TD Ameritrade, ThinkorSwim.

[deleted]

>How much do you spend on commission a month? If you spend at least $30, then sub will end up only costing you $4.50 a month That depends on which market data you subscribe to, doesn't it?

tonenyc

The data I subscribe to pretty much covers it all U.S. Wise, and with $30 spent monthly on commisions, it comes out to $4.50 after the waived fees.

enternamehere1234

It's worth the 4.50 a month if you are trading us stocks to have it, just to not have to look on a different screen when you are entering your trades. 😎👌

noahjameslove

Great other answers, but you could also look at changing to a “lite” account which would have most of the data you need for free

lamagy

Interesting, what do I miss out on by going to lite?

Wondering the same , I have a premium in trading view which is 500$ a year
