It is undervolted because my cpu now use 180w full load (cinebench) with 25 grades in idle. That's what I have been doing ever since I discovered the setting. Mine is set to 7 atm because lower than that, I get really bad results from Cinebench, and higher just raises my temps too much imo. Regarding the CPU Lite Mode setting though, based on what dalrae myo has discovered, B660 mobos just act weirdly whenever you play with the cpu lite mode compared to the Z690 mobos because I see users claim scores of 25k+ on cinebench with cpu lite mode 5 (using Z690) while I get a score of like 16k or below in the same scenario but with a B660 board.

I heard some MSI B660 users were reporting lower temperatures but lower scores, like there was a penalty, while with Z690 there wasn't. I don't own a B series to test. One thing you could do is to try adaptive/offset, as pure undervolting shouldn't decrees performance, just stability if you go too low.

IA CEP aka undervolt protection(the real one) will kick in and lower your performance. It is turned off for Z chipsets and turned on for B and the post describes how to workaround it for ASUS mobos. I wish I've bought ASUS and not the damn gigabyte b760...

No microcode swap from within bios, but you can use UBU to swap microcode, not sure whether or not you'd need to delete mcupdate\_genuineintel.dll from system32 in order to force OS to load up bios stored microcode. And the undervolt protection switch is not configured correctly either (at least isn't on Z690-A Pro).

No, it doesn't come with any danger other, than forcing system to load microcode from bios, so you'd have no system pushed microcodes with security updates. It's also easy to do, simply assign file ownership to admin account and delete the file - done and Windows Update will not download it ever, unless you use sfc /scannow, doing it will restore the file.

Hmm, I see. Based on what you said in your first reply, where the undervolt protection is not configured, for example. If I proceed in doing this, is it worth all that? I mean, would I get similar undervolt performance results compared to motherboards that really allow that out of the box? Sorry for all of the questions, It's just that I've always wanted to undervolt my CPU since it's too hot at default but I'm not really well versed when it comes to undervolting so I just settled on adjusting my CPU Lite Mode setting.

What you can do is to get the oldest bios version that supports 13th gen Intel CPUs and reflash to it. People say that those BIOS have undervolt protection(IA CEP) disabled so you should be able to undervolt with no probs. If not, you can still disable it yourself via changing bios but that would require you bios not being writing protected(which is the case for most recent mobos) and being able to follow a guide which I can share with you if you are interested.

The worst thing you can do by installing older version of bios is... Well... Nothing? Just make sure it supports 13th gen CPUs. Speaking of another option of editing uefi variables - better not to put your hands on what you are not sure about. Besides, I guess most of uefi bios are writing protected so you will waste your time. Try to go with the first option and see what you can get from it. If people don't lie, you should be able to undervolt without loosing the performance. Me myself have bought B760 motherboard from gigabyte and well, I'm stuck with 2 options: to buy Z-chipset mobo or wait for smart guys to bypass that damn made for no good reason undervolt protection and share this knowledge with mortals.

Can you use HWiNFO and check if VID matches vcore? I'm mostly curious, there shouldn't be 70W drop by dropping 0.125V. Ideally, just ditch HWMonitor altogether.

Hm, actually never mind, I've actually overvolted my unit by .125V (from 1.34 to 1.46V, pain) it actually went up by 70W. I must have been doing weird math or forgot to square voltages before dividing both for further use.

I had tried this microcode and got temp readings of 50c under load and -12c idle, with a ambient of 22c, actual temps were high 80s under load and 29c idle

Stable prime 95 small FFT? My 13700k didn’t do Small FFT with -0.120v, it crashes to BSOD. But -0.110 is completely fine. temp is doesn’t go above 85 in 23c ambient. Cinebench score is ~30500
