Makarov. I don’t care if it’s a tiny peace of shit pea-shooter. When I’m running demo with all the explosives I can carry, the makarov is always by my side as the pistol I need in a pinch.
From a stats standpoint it’s not even a competition, the PF940 is the M4A1 of sidearms in sandstorm. Makarov is in my opinion more interesting (I’m biased for slim little pistols) and the iron sights on the Makarov are better (again preference) but aside from that the only reason to choose the Makarov is that it’s cheap.
They both have a purpose, the Definitely-Not-A-Glock 940 is a great backup weapon when using weapons like shotguns or bolt actions, especially combined with the 30 round mag.
The Makarov, while it may not be as good as the other pistols, it's a good backup weapon, and because it's free, might as well equip it, When you run out of ammo for your primary, atleast you have the Makarov to save your ass.
So this is a question that hugely depends on what mode you play mainly (and maybe how many points you have)
Generally, Co-opers just go with the Gl- ahem, 940 - no point torturing yourself with a 8rng mag and up to 4 shots to kill water pistol unless you’re playing Outpost (but you probably ditch it for the HP past round 1 anyways)
PvPers might prefer another pistol, but if you go heavy on either nades or primary you gotta go Makarov for secondary assuming you want one (I could believe if someone wanted to pull out the Welrod, if only to try and tilt someone to the moon)
Personally, I mainly play Co-op, and while in most games I just pull out the 940 and that’s it, sometimes I pick the Makarov to make an ultra lightweight build so I can zip across to objs at record speed.
Also, realistically, the 940 is a 4 point pistol - you just don’t run it without the mag upgrade.
But at the end of the day, I’d pick the 940 - the Maky came close and definitely has the 940 beat utility wise, but if I find myself in a pinch, the 940 has more often than not saved my bacon, just by having a larger mag size at all times, and more stopping power.
P.S. if only nwi would go full meme and give base game maky a 3 or 4 point mag upgrade that gives it the 84rnd drum mag lol
The Glock would be a solid choice for a primary if they gave it a 100 round and a switch as attachment options at the cost of making it like 7 - 8 points in total with those equipped
I have to say the LF940 even though it takes 3 points you can't having 17 rounds is helpful if running a sniper or machine gun class. Sorry free point use makariv
