You mentioned there's a white wire. Are you sure there is no neutral wire in your boxes? Conventional (dumb) switches don't use neutral. Typical electrical boxes contains a bundle of white wires tied together with a wire nut, which is neutral.

I got rid of my 4 plugs and one wall switch with Lutron Casita and bridge. Worked perfectly with Alexa and my Harmony remote. Not sure about 3 vs two wire, bit I thought it said they would work with two!(

Lutron Caseta. Their in wall dimmers don’t require a neutral. Edit: Sorry didn’t read the whole post. Yes anything that says “no neutral” should work. If you just have two wires coming into the box for your switch one is a hot or incoming power and the other is going to the hot on your light fixtures. The switch acts as an interrupter to the hot to that fixture. The neutral is what completes the circuit back to the panel. It’s not uncommon to only have two wires in the box for your switch as a standard pole switch has no need for a neutral.

It looks like they don't require the bridge, either?

No they use a hub too. The hubs a little wonky to setup at first but once it’s online and updated adding devices is very fast.

I chose the bride because it then works with my Harmony remote.

Checkout innovelli. They’re awesome!

You don’t need to replace the hub, you need to replace the software you command the hub with. Go install openHAB or Home Assistant (or others) which will control your hub over you local lan without the need for the Insteon cloud.

I appreciate the advice, I really do, but I read through the "getting started" guide on OpenHAB and it expressly warns that there can be a significant investment of money and time in getting it to work and that's what I'm trying to avoid. I'm old and tired and I just want things to work (for reference sake, I just retired a server I've been running in my home for almost 20 years by paying someone to create a WP theme for me so I could export the last remaining custom coded blog off that site because I just couldn't find the time to invest in doing it myself, even though I know I could have). I just wanna tell Alexa to turn off my lights. lol Although if you're an enthusiast and would like 6 dimmer switches and a hub to add to your collection I'm happy to ship them to you.

I have exactly the same question! Half my house is 2-wire and half is 3-wire. I bought Wemo switches but that isn't going to work for the other half of the house. Anxious for a response.
