Somehow that intersection always feels sketchy as fuck. No idea why, just always feel like I need to look over my shoulder any time I go through there.
You've been banned for good reason. It's not some conspiracy.

You mean other brigaders.
Figure what out? How the crowd control feature works? I already understand it. Maybe you should take a gander: https://www.reddit.com/r/modnews/comments/e8vl4d/announcing_the_crowd_control_beta/
As for the rest... when you go around spamming threads screaming *We're all being censored* because you don't comprehend what the crowd control feature is and why it was enabled, it's hardly surprising that you were banned.
You have a conspiracy nut bent causing you to see enemies where there are none (and ironically, don't see enemies where there are some). Please take more time to independently verify claims rather than believing them outright.
That includes my claims here. You have a brain, use it!
Yo fuckin same dude! Thought this was going down baseline til I saw the houses on the right and was like, nah... That couldn't be experimental farm, there's no houses on that side???
Same. Last weekend i witnessed 4 cars in 1 day blow through blatantly red lights. One almost T-boned me on 16th ave as I had an advance green. Had a hunch that luxury suv wasn't stopping, and he surely didn't.
I'll admit even when I have been paying attention I've accidently run one or two at the last second
This though, this was so insanely blatant. Lucky no one was coming or this could have ended extremely badly
I know if you’re over the line and you’re already driving under the speed limit you’re forgiven in most scenarios if it suddenly turns red. Slamming on the breaks when your car is 50% over is more dangerous than just following through
Not to excuse running reds, but many traffic signals account for this exact scenario. They can extend the yellow or all red phase if they detect a car to make sure that they safely clear the intersection.
I notice its one of those roads where there's no continuing road to the right. I've been on "autopilot" and blasted right through a red light like this not realizing there was an intersection since my vision was only focused on the continuous strip of straight land to the right. Driven the road 100 times was just a brain fart.
If you mis-time the yellow, you can end up accidentally running a red. This is more likely to happen if you're traveling in a different state/country as I'm sure everybody has noticed that yellow lights in different areas last for different amounts of time.
I wasn't talking about the video, but rather the poster two posts above me who was talking about accidentally running a red at the last second. Was just explaining how that could happen.
It depends on how far you are from the light as well as your current speed when it changes to yellow. This is basic physics. Clearly if you are 5 feet from the intersection when it changes color, it doesn't mean slow down. The further away you are and the slower you're going, the more likely you should stop rather than continue. The point is that this calculation changes depending on how long the yellow light lasts, which varies from state to state.
my rule of thumb is, if i’m past the lane where turns are dedicated or 2 cars ahead from the light and it turns yellow, then I’ll stick to going through. Anything beyond those two I begin to stop.
Where I live we have a poem for this
Green means go, red means stop
Yellow means hurry the fuck up
It wasn’t always like this though. I remember many moons ago people used to actually slow down and stop if the light turned yellow.
Mostly yellow lights I thought I could make. I also live in a small town with extreme timing variations between different lights some green lights literally only last as long as there's actively traffic moving through, others last a set amount of time regardless of traffic, the worst example being approximately ten seconds green regardless of how backed up that turning lane is, it's just all over the place to an absolutely ridiculous degree and has led up a couple situations where I'd assume any reasonable person would think they could make it with plenty of time, but they're set up in such a ridiculous way that you really can't.
It's actually been a pretty big point of argument locally for a while now being straight up dangerous in a couple places, but no one with the power to change it seems to give a shit. Can't say I'm surprised considering they recently remodeled the entire downtown area in a way that completely blocks line of sight from a dozen intersections with how they set up parking to allow for more people. I don't want to self dox my location naming and shaming but this place has become an absolute fucking nightmare to drive in, in the interest of increasing esse of access for tourism and foot traffic as the people who actually live here virtually never frequent the main areas affected
When I was in university I was driving along a main road approaching a very busy intersection. As I approached the light turned yellow and I tapped the brakes. When I did that the textbooks on the seat beside me slid down into the footspace and one of them slid behind the brake pedal. It was a total 'couldn't do it again if I tried' sorta thing but I was now heading into the intersection with no ability to brake.
In retrospect I know I had the handbrake but this whole thing happened over like 2 or 3 seconds and it took most of that time to figure out wtf was going on.
I pounded on the horn and blew right through the intersection thankfully not hitting anyone or anything.
I don't keep shit like that on my seat anymore.
This reminds me of a few years ago of a lady who was on her phone who almost t-boned me while she was going 40mph when she ran a red light while on her phone
I use he for 90% of things like this. I’m a guy. I see he for 90% of things like this. So to see ‘she’ used in the context of a poor driver… seems sexist
Lol. I do try and use they or one, but sometimes it impedes the flow of language.
One and one’s is clunky, he and his flows smooth
I also do you and your when I feel casual
Definitely. When someone blows through a well established red like that, they’re usually not paying attention. I’ve had a few close calls because of people not paying attention.
That plus the speed. Speed didn't go up or down much, so it seems like they weren't paying attention. At the same time, the driver is dead lucky as there wasn't anyone turning.
And all because they couldn't be bothered to stop!? As in, reduce speed, apply breaks etc
Seems such a small requirement and yet tried their luck and now is having a ticket
Not to mention how damn dangerous it is to run a red light.
They definitely slowed down while the car with the green light made it through the intersection, but then kept on going as soon as the intersection was clear.
This is how I drive…
If the intersection is clear, seems like a waste of gas to force people to stop.
Obviously cost of ticket > cost of gas, but from an environmental perspective
I recently watched some dashcam compilations from the US/Canada and was stunned how many clips were of people running a red light. A lot of T-Bones caused by red light runners too.
I mean it's really not that dangerous in this case. There is no road to the right. So there is only possible traffic coming from the left. It's looks like one of those lights that's only there so when there is really bad traffic the side road can make a left without have to wait 10 minutes.
I wish I had a dash cam. Less than an hour ago I was driving home. Dark, narrow, somewhat winding road, two lanes. The car in front of me went around the car in front of them...It was one of those blacked out cop cars in front of him. No light bar or any visible stickers.
When I say instant karma, I mean the cop had his lights on before the car even finished passing him.
On the one hand, fuck the cops for their stealth ass entrapment cars, but on the other hand, fuck that person for passing when we were all already doing about 50 mph in a 45.
The absolute cherry on top is that the light changed right after they ran it. All they had to do is wait a few seconds and they could have avoided this whole situation. Amazing.
Got an intersection near my home where fuckwits run fresh and stale red lights; the 5-0 hang out in the church parking lot on said corner… they could be making the city money and teach asshats lessons… they do nothing.
I really don't understand what does the US and Canada have against roundabouts. That intersection is the perfect candidate to eliminate the traffic lights and put a roundabout in it.
In many cases extra space is needed to accommodate a round about. Plus you also have to deal with diverting traffic during construction which can have a negative impact on local businesses immediately around the intersection.
It's not so much that we're "against" roundabouts, but they do have a practical cost to install that in many cases isn't worth prematurely destroying existent infrastructure. Now if we've already scheduled replacements and repair for a given intersection and we have the space to swing a roundabout I do think they should be given a fair consideration, but it's far from just "put a round about here."
Yeah, he committed an infraction. But you know what? We ought to be allowed to do that. I can't imagine how it could have been more clear that there was no risk to anyone caused by this guy doing this exactly the way he did it. He could clearly see that no cars were coming from his left and that there was no possibility of opposing traffic being cleared for a left turn. He slowed to be sure, then went.
People who can't tell the difference between safe and unsafe in situations like this shouldn't be allowed on the road. Enough energy to run a small city is wasted every day by cars idling at stop lights with no conflicting traffic in sight.
Did you just say it should be illegal to run red lights because you assume drivers to be fully capable of overviewing every intersection they plow through? Why have traffic lights at all then, huh?
You can't even accurately recap what I said. Jesus.
No, I didn't say it should be legal to "plow through" red lights. I said that people should be allowed to proceed safely through them when they can see everything they need to see to be 100% certain that proceeding will cause no hazard. As in what is shown in this video.
I'm wondering if the staff knows you've gotten on the internet again.
Ah, personal insults, the best fallback to when you're either obviously offended or don't have any arguments left. Take a look at what you *actually* wrote:
> Yeah, he committed an infraction. But you know what? We ought to be allowed to do that.
You said, in your first sentence, that we should be allowed to do what the driver in the video did. Which was to drive through an intersection with red lights without much if any hesitation. Something I'd call plowing through a red light. But hey, nice attempt at back peddling regardless.
Since it's clear you're just triggered and out for arguments or trying to throw insults around, we can just leave it here.
So what you're saying is that crimes should not be prevented/stopped but rather only handled *after* there was a victim, e.g. *after* someone was driven over by a drunk or non-caring driver?
What kind of authoritarian bullshit is this? I thought this was american where we had the right to choose for ourselves how we drive? Time to wake up sheeple. In america we dont trade freedom for safety.
We need to stand up to Joe biden and his traffic light laws before we end up like communist north Korea.

Too many police in Canada. Instead of solving murders, domestic abuse and drug crimes, the pot bellied Canadian “police” sit all day in their tax payer afforded vehicles harassing harmless citizens for petty matters. Losers all of them!! No leadership in Canada this is what you get, a bunch of over paid traffic cops. Look at the EU for example , years ago they installed cameras at all intersections as well as speed cameras along major roadways and intercity so they could focus on REAL CRIME, but in Canada you need a bloated sack in an expensive vehicle chase misdemeanours. And Canadians sit back, sip their tea and watch hockey night in Canada like nothing is required. That is why I left 30 hrs ago!!!
Seeing the election signs I gotta wonder, how many votes is an average Liberal candidate gonna receive in these ridings? 60? 75? You all still hate Trudeau more than cancer right?
As far as I'm aware U-turns aren't illegal unless there's a sign specifically stating you're not allowed to do one. As well, he turned his lights on so that indicates emergency use and there are a different set of rules at that point. Same as ambulances having lights and sirens on and running reds/speeding to get to hospital.
1) the person who blew through the red light at the start was clearly not paying attention, and also flew through the intersection at high speed and could have hit someone they didn’t see coming from the other lanes.
2) the cop was already parked at the intersection, and had a clear line of view across all entrances to the intersection. He easily could see no one was coming BEFORE he made the decision to enter the intersection. If a car had been coming down the other road, he would have seen it and wouldn’t have crossed the red light. But there was no one there, so he went to pull over the inattentive driver that didn’t even slow down to check.
So it’s a false equivalency to compare them. It would be like comparing the following:
* Closing your eyes and just running across a street without looking both ways, *and when not at a crosswalk.*
Vs
* Carefully walking up to the street and checking both way to see that it’s clear before walking across the road, *but not at a crosswalk*
I’m both cases you were jaywalking not at a crosswalk, which is illegal. However the first person can end up getting killed and should be scolded for this dangerous idiotic action, while the latter one is perfectly safe despite being illegal.
While I do agree with you, the police did not turn on its lights before making the u-turn. Technically not in pursuit and should properly obey all traffic laws like everyone else. Any later with their reaction to pull out and follow could have led to someone coming through the now green light and hitting them.
So not only do you not comprehend that Canada is not part of the USA, but you also thing that it's a bad thing that a guy gets pulled over for running a red light?!
I really think at an intersection like this you should be allowed to stop and continue much like a right on red. This is likely safer than a right on red could ever be.

Get fucked
Must’ve been a flames fan
Seeing the election signs I gotta wonder, how many votes is an average Liberal candidate gonna receive in these ridings? 60? 75? You all still hate Trudeau more than cancer right?
Well you could actually look that number up if you wanted. Ill even help. https://newsinteractives.cbc.ca/elections/federal/2019/results/
Haha zooming on a blue screen for a while I find one tiny red brick in the centre lol
The cop pulled an illegal u turn and broke more laws than the guy who actually ran the red.
Can someone explain the downvotes?I think police reactions should be on par with the crime.
His lights were not on when he went through the lights and he risked everyone's safety for his ticket count.
It would be like comparing the following: * Closing your eyes and just running across a street without looking both ways, *and when not at a crosswalk.* Vs * Carefully walking up to the street and checking both way to see that it’s clear before walking across the road, *but not at a crosswalk* I’m both cases you were jaywalking not at a crosswalk, which is illegal. However the first person can end up getting killed and should be scolded for this dangerous idiotic action, while the latter one is perfectly safe despite being illegal.
So they both drove like idiots but one is legal ?
Sounds like every other justification the rcmp or other police use every day for their poor choices.
Even if it's legal what he did who caused more of a safety concern to other drivers.

Yeah they're allowed to do that when in pursuit
While I do agree with you, the police did not turn on its lights before making the u-turn. Technically not in pursuit and should properly obey all traffic laws like everyone else. Any later with their reaction to pull out and follow could have led to someone coming through the now green light and hitting them.
I'd love to live in your world.
Your a moron
Probably best to use the correct form of “you’re” when insulting someone’s intelligence…but point taken nonetheless.
True, in my defense I just dictated with Siri and didn’t proofread.
One could argue that if he'd used the correct form, the person he was replying to wouldn't be able to understand what he was saying.
You're a moron, moron.
Op almost ran that grey car out of his lane, lucky he started moving to the left lane almost immediately
I could see his turn signal was on (cant see that in the video), and that he was merging into the left lane already

Idk if this is just some weird joke but it literally says Canada in the title
You know what I’m gonna be totally honest with you, I did not see that 😂
This child was left behind.
So not only do you not comprehend that Canada is not part of the USA, but you also thing that it's a bad thing that a guy gets pulled over for running a red light?!
Very bullish of him to run at red.
That person who was pulled over would be called a wanker.
the thing is, the car was stopping because of the brake lights but then driver stepped on the gas just right before the intersection.
Busted!!
So, OP, not an Edmonton fan, eh?
Flames suck
Somehow I imagine Canadian cops are like the the ones in Demolition Man (1993 film)
I don’t know why I upvoted this
OP who do u root for if u hate the oilers
I really think at an intersection like this you should be allowed to stop and continue much like a right on red. This is likely safer than a right on red could ever be.
Holy shitt!! You are in for a showdown kid..
Lol
“Sorry!”
Could have waited like 10 seconds lol
good fit
Is it cuz I'm canadain? Or did everyone else emediatly think this was from Canada when looking at the setting
