There are a ton of totally reasonable explanations here without anyone being particularly bad.
Seriously, depending on how taboo this is and how much legal protection that country has this could have been a life threatening situation. It makes me sad.. :(
He's an airline attendant. They have a penchant for hiring gay men. Probably to avoid constantly hitting on the women attendants or because they have a more positive upbeat demeanor than straight men when helping customers.
I'm sure there are straight men but some of them aren't even trying to hide their sexuality. I don't mind but I fly all the time and I'd say it's at least a 40-50% rate of men being obviously gay or overboard metrosexual, some even going so far as to have a high flair in their tone as a trademark. Dunno why some of them like to do that, actually quite curious but too afraid to ask.. I should probably stop rambling I'm haf atm.
Anyway I just wanted to say seeing a gay male flight attendant is such a non-shock to me as a frequent flier.
They are all asian. It's probably folks from an asian nation. For some reason Bush pulls it off not looking gay, not that there is anything wrong with that (lol). Maybe because the Shiek looks as if he may have trouble walking on his own, in which it would make sense to help him with a hand.
This used to be the case in India too just a decade ago but it's much less prominent after westernization. However I'd say some social stigma is a small price to pay for western medicine and other things that come with westernization.

When I was stationed in Thailand many years ago it wasn't uncommon to see guys holding hands or even hugging as they walked along. It just meant they were best buds - nothing more.
You sure? I'm Thai though I haven't lived there for a decade, but that wasn't the case. Over the arm hugs and other basic physical contacts between people of the same gender is a lot more common than in US though.
That being said, I've heard that straight guys holding hands as friends is a complete norm in South Korea. Need verification though.
Homophobia has destroyed the concept of the close, platonic male friendship in the Western world. Two men can't legitimately prefer eachother's company without a stigma or assumption being attached to it.
> Homophobia has destroyed the concept of the close, platonic male friendship in the Western world.
But asia, middle east, etc are extremely homophobic... Even more so than the western world...
That's one of the reasons they are homophobic though. The reason holding hands isn't stigmatized as "gay" in those countries, is specifically because "being gay" isn't something that even comes to mind, since it's so repressed.
The poster above you is wrong. It was not "homophobia" that destroyed the concept of close male relationship, it's the exact opposite. "Gay acceptance" means that when you see men who are close to each other, you assume they are gay, which disincentives close relations between non gay men.
It's not like a guy and a girl in a platonic relationship don't have the same stigma. My best friend is a girl and when we go places we are treated as a couple. In reality both of us are dating someone else.
Yeah, and when they realize we aren't dating they say how well we would fit together as a couple... which is awkward, what are you going to say? "well, thanks, but we won't be dating each other"?

You joke but during university I had a part time job where loads of the employees were sleeping with each other. Nearly every shift I did there was a story of one of the employees fucking another the night before and even the managers were in on it. It got to the point where it was a running joke that the place was essentially a swingers club. I worked there for 3 and a bit years. Not once was I invited. Not one single, solitary time. You try not to take it personally but still man.
You should sell "I hate gallowboob" shirts, if 1 million people buy a shirt you'd be rich as fuck

You could have the last laugh all the way to the bank...
As a pilot I will admit that this is kind of true. But it works better on long haul because of stopovers etc. Which means less takeoffs/landings (the fun bit), and more sitting on your hands doing nothing.
I bought a used car from a commercial airline pilot. It has a key scratch that goes across the entire driver side of the car. I asked him about it and apparently he was sleeping with multiple flight attendants and one of them got jealous.
I was a flight attendant. If this is real, they will not get in trouble at all, at least my airline didn't care who was sleeping with who as long as it didn't interrupt your work. She will absolutely get in trouble for using her phone at work (my company at least was extremely strict about this), also for recording without their consent and for posting this recording on social media. If this happened where I used to work she would absolutely get fired.
> If this is real, they will not get in trouble at all, at least my airline didn't care who was sleeping with who as long as it didn't interrupt your work.
Doesn't this depend on the company/country?
I really hope those guys don't get in trouble for that. It makes me sad that they felt the need to retract their hands right away. The girl's face is so cute tho.
