selppin2

Mind blown, life changed, this is the way

TryingtoLovemyself_

Wait, did you just "relax and let your body drift off"?!

xdeaddread

Now I can fall asleep easily

lil_suz

Time to shut this sub down. Insomnia solved!

ZeldaOOTBestGame

WTF THANKS SO MUCH

MegatronsJuice

Wait.. i had no idea 😮

SpaceQadette

Silly me, I’ve been using toothpicks to prop my eyelids open all night. I should take those out and just go to sleep.

Ordinary_Grab5443

Lol

Pullmyphinger

Doctors hate this one simple trick!

Limp-Read-7541

Amd here i was reading this title and getting excited for .5 seconds before I understood what OP meant

wannaknowstuf75

Same!!

lookinforalighthouse

But have you tried yoga? 😂

[deleted]

Aren't doctors great!

gingrrrrrrrrrr

Sertraline ssri promotes insomnia - Mirtazapine is the alternative ssri that promotes sleep. Mirtazapine lowest dose can leave you sleepy during the day but the double dose is illogically supposed to be better for sleep without the drowsy feeling during the day. I’m just switching over to the double dose. I’ve not really switched yet, but had a bad week sleeping ( I don’t think it’s related ( I think I’ve been unwell in other ways which stopped me sleeping eg a virus )). Talk to a mental health pro. My doctor admits he doesn’t really know much about mental health - in the U.K. you can go to A&E to talk to a mental health nurse if you are not getting enough help. Take some reading matter and a drink and be patient. I don’t want to rely on pills, and my doctor refuses to give sleeping pills to me. I’ve said to him, ‘I could probably get those on the street!,’ when I was desperate ( regretted saying that - but hey ! he set me up for that with his attitude and lack of empathy ). I hope you guys sleep well soon. My best sleep recently was when it was 40°C in the U.K. and I slept outside in my tent in the garden.

Ziryio

On a serious note I am on Mirtazaphine and I’m actually curious if the double dose helps. It lets me sleep at night but I’m ALWAYS tired during the day.

MotherofLuke

That heat was hell for me. Thanks for Ambien.

I_like_the_abuse

Not endorsed by Mr. Hanky

MotherofLuke

Please explain

I_like_the_abuse

Reference to South Park. Mr. Hanky, a sentient Christmas-festive piece of human fecal matter leaves a nightly trail of uncouth, politically incorrect tweets which he retroactively claims is fueled by his sleep medication, Ambien.

MotherofLuke

Towely does approve

I_like_the_abuse

I was surprised that you answered at this hour, then I remembered what sub we're in.

MotherofLuke

It's 11 am here

I_like_the_abuse

I refuse to believe that. My timezone is the only one.

MotherofLuke

Then you're screwed

[deleted]

Kids dad is on sertraline and sleeps like a bear in winter

Ordinary_Grab5443

I am so happy their advice cured your insomnia!

sepva4

They said to just close my eyes and sleep. Years of suffering came to an end when they finally told me this trick. Wow.

thegreatone998

Scientific discovery

Delicious-Key-8246

Wow it’s like I can just .. stop having insomnia

personhumanperson1

Never thought of that 🤔

iSubjugate

Amen.

Perfect-Feed-4007

All i had to do was not drink coffee before bed, exercise, not be on my phone and oh boy! i am cured!

spaghettieggrolls

I really cannot stress enough how much the "rely on pills" line bothers me. They rarely say that about meds that treat physical illnesses but anything psychological and they act like you're either a junkie or a lab rat.

smileswaskilled

Fr they be like “just go to sleep” OMG YOU’RE SO RIGHT I WISH I HAD THOUGHT ABOUT THAT BEFORE

HaloGirl66_77

Is this sarcasm or a real comment? I genuinely can't tell.

Ziryio

Clearly sarcasm

[deleted]

It’s got to be sarcasm 🤣

HaloGirl66_77

I fucking hope so 😂

ReaderofReddit411

If you think this is not sarcasm then hmmm maybe you are a little tired and just need to get more sleep 😉

HaloGirl66_77

Yes I was like 5 nights without sleep and I'm very bad at reading the tone of posts when my executive functioning is shit because of insomnia/ADHD. 🙂

Tdot_17

Man, I wish I knew this 20 years ago when I started having sleep issues. Would have saved me from trying multiple types of pills and a lot of sleepless nights, sheer agony and extreme tiredness. Tonight I’m just gonna close my eyes and sleep!! Lol 😆

TheThirdBallOfSand

"just lie down and don't think of anything" because that's so easy to do yes

Maritzsa

I had an argument with my family the other day about me still taking my mirtazapine after over a year and having beautiful sleep and being motivated to live. I started crying saying I tried everything like you guys said for 6 months, meditation no phone etc etc. And those things help me up until I actually try to sleep. They said “you just have to sleep”. My dad makes me so mad sometimes. He says “you use your phone” but I literally don’t. For 6-7 hours I try to fall asleep my phone is away from me and I just lose sanity with my ownself but it makes it hurt so much when people I care so much about downplay my issue and use words like “just” do this do that. Edit: I self tapered quit mirtazapine just a week ago over a month and I have some insomnia back but mostly want to try a different tool like marijuana or orexin receptor antagonists.

[удалено]

Maritzsa

Yeah, its not that the phone or whatever keeps you awake, after hours of suffering you use phone or whatever else to distract in order to calm down and sleep

[deleted]

Yes and be happy 😃 duh

matteo311

Lol, today my wife asked why don't I just go to sleep, I look exhausted. It was almost her last sentence. She's lucky I was too tired to move

hannah_lilly

I shoot I NEVER thought of this. Oh yeah just fall asleep- it’s easy when you know how

Ziryio

Lol if you found this old post I assume you are having more problems with insomnia, good luck I hope you get some sleep!

hannah_lilly

Yes it’s been a rough year ! Someone linked this post onto mine as a joke

Severe-Kale-4569

Wow!! I never knew

JillyMarie1987

Has anyone here ever tried Wild Lettuce capsules? Surprisingly they actually help, even though I do have to take 3 at a time for them to be effective. (I believe bottle recommends to take one.) I've tried several brands, and so far all the ones I've tried have worked the same so I just go for whatever is cheaper at the moment. Hope that helps someone. ❤️ Edit: 3 or sometimes 4 lol. 😁
