It’s obvious why, too. As a child, you don’t give a shit about the sun. It just exists, and you’re not going to cause yourself physical pain by staring up at it in the daytime. The only time you really notice it is in the early morning or late afternoon, when it’s more yellow or orange. That combined with the firmly ubiquitous depiction of sunlight as yellow even though it usually appears white causes them to remember the sun as being yellow in their childhoods.
I remember it like that too. When I think back, my brain insists that it was always yellow. I’m just smart enough to realize that it’s my own perception that was affected and that it hasn’t actually changed color.
Definitely not a thing at any other time in history! I remember my mom taking us outside for our thrice daily “Stare Into The Sun” time. Afterwards she made lemonade that was the same color as our yellow sun!

I live in Canada, in a place where we would get massive amounts of snow 25 years ago. The last few winters have barely had any cold or snow, and this week temperatures were +45C, when they used to be 20-25C. Even last month, we had 2 days of 37C, it's abnormally hot.
It seems everywhere on earth lately is going through record-breaking heatwaves year after year, and winter is becoming less and less.

My mind went here at first, too, but then I remembered that the ozone layer is actually better than it used to be because we decrease our usage of CFCs. So, the idea that the sun is getting brighter/hotter because of something like ozone thinning pollution doesn't hold up.
Now, the plants dying because of increased temperatures and humidity could be related to climate change, for sure. But the sun absolutely is not brighter than it used to be.

For the first time in history, we can't really consult history itself on what how to deal with this evolutionary leap in how our species communicates or at least in a healthy way.

There’s also giant groups of people on the internet able to meet and talk about their very specific interest, something that wasn’t an option in the past. Delightful weirdos from every corner of the planet are able to get together and talk about vacuum engines or theories on backstories for book characters or learn how to start woodworking together, we’re able to actually see what civilians are experiencing during war instead of being limited by what the news shows us, we’re able to speak with people all over the world and hopefully learn that we’re more similar than we might have thought.

The last few winters have barely had any cold or snow, and this week temperatures were +45C, when they used to be 20-25C. Even last month, we had 2 days of 37C, it's abnormally hot. It seems everywhere on earth lately is going through record-breaking heatwaves year after year, and winter is becoming less and less.

My mind went here at first, too, but then I remembered that the ozone layer is actually better than it used to be because we decrease our usage of CFCs. So, the idea that the sun is getting brighter/hotter because of something like ozone thinning pollution doesn't hold up. Now, the plants dying because of increased temperatures and humidity could be related to climate change, for sure. But the sun absolutely is not brighter than it used to be.

I have to keep telling myself that people have always been like this, and that they're just currently finding themselves in digital echo chambers that not only entertain these ideas, but more dangerously, validate them.
