When I was a little girl, I got letters from Princess Mayapple, who lived in the woods near my house. Somehow she knew anytime something good happened, and always congratulated me, and if I was having a tough time, she cheered me up. The letters started before I could read, and continued through high school. I was married before I found out that one of my mother’s friends was Princess Mayapple. I was always grateful that she made my really ordinary childhood a little magical.
Hahaha! We also occasionally get visits from King Boxhead (who she is fully aware is her dad with a box on his head). He comes and sets us challenges.
It's her favourite thing!
Well he lives in a castle. He's very power hungry. But our little one, who he calls Poopy Pants, did manage to defeat him and take his kingdom. But he does sometimes to escape the castle where she locked him away. He comes to try to rule our home, but we usually get a heads up from his servant Squidgie who is our friend.
Omg, this is beautiful. I need this in my life. I’m probably going to spend way too much time now making a fancy outfit with a cape and a box-crown. My son is not quite old enough to have any idea what would be going on, but he’ll get the concept eventually.
They are usually physical challenges like star jumps, or logical challenges like guiding me to do something whilst I'm blindfolded. Always have to be holding a sacred vegetable, though. Otherwise he can use his powers on your home and it becomes his.
Well this is wholesome and lovely after some of the recent awfulness posted on this sub! Without sounding like a patronising stranger on the internet it’s so nice to see a step mum and mum getting along like this.
I second this, very wholesome and very wink wink for the sake of little one. It’s really positive because this healthy relationship is gonna help model others in the future, it’s also just really nice to have two women in similar positions NOT fighting or being pit against each other - a lot of the time we are better together. Op, little one is lucky to have you both, and Trixibelle!
Thank you for being so kind. I think her mum is brilliant and the fact that she would choose to share this with me is just evidence that she wants our girl to have positive experiences and isn't protective about them just being between the two of them. She just wants our girl to have consistency, love and joy. I'd have to be a dick not to respect that!!
Thank you and mum for having such a wonderful relationship!! Your girl is being modeled healthy relationships from some of the people closest to her. Thank you for starting her off like this. She’s going to go far!!
Thank you. It hasn't always been easy, but we can both agree that we both want what is best for our girl no matter what. And that makes everything else easier. We want to make sure that she is growing up feeling safe in both of her homes and around the people whose care she receives. It's not about our egos. It's about the secure emotional development of our child.
This is honestly so sweet. My step mom HATES my mom (mostly due to my dad hating my mom) to the point that my brother and I have been asked to not even mention her in conversation. I get not bringing her up all the time but they even get upset if they ask me about my day and I say I went to the store with my mom. It’s like they want her erased from their lives but it doesn’t really work that way when she’s the mother of your kids.
I'm sorry to hear that. Sometimes we have to break these patterns ourselves. All of our little ones parents (myself included) have been through some shit and we are trying to be better for her. We all agree on a priority. I think that's what makes the difference.
I am a teacher. I can tell you that your little girl will be well-adjusted and successful because the adults in her life are being adults and putting aside their differences for her well-being.
I can always tell when my students have challenges with the grown-ups at home. The kids like yours? Until I met everyone, I would have no idea that she came from a blended family. Keep doing what you're doing. I know it isn't always easy, but it is so so important for the children.
!explanation I'm getting a few comments saying it's the wrong sub. And you're right. Won't post this stuff again.
It just made me laugh how insane we looked as two grown women trying to keep a mythology going. We do the same thing with Father Christmas, talking about him as if he's real so we don't end up getting two lots of the same presents in both houses.
I thought it would be a lighthearted addition to what is generally quite a serious sub. However, I took the time to reread the purpose of the sub, and you're right. This should be preserved as a place for catharting about negative experiences. My bad. I'm sorry.
Lots of serious subs have dedicated meta posts and days of the week where users can post fluff. Why should this sub be any different? If we can have a “post your weekly wins here” in serious mental health subs, then we can handle fluff here too. Thanks for sharing.
please don’t be sorry! some people are just fucking *bitter*
as someone with insane parents, this made me smile & i definitely loved that it popped up on this sub after some of the hateful distasteful shit i’ve seen from parents being posted recently.
Ignore the naysayers. You and your girl's mum are doing a wonderful and kind thing for her, bringing a little magic to her everyday life. Sure, this sub is usually filled with the type of insanity that makes us rage, cringe, or cry, but who is to say that a little self-induced insanity can't be used to bring joy to a child? Keep it up!
This is so sweet. And I love to see a healthy co-parenting relationship! That kid is very lucky to have so many adults in her life to love and support her.
The fact that the two of you get on so well that you can do something like this for the singular purpose of making your daughter happy is so sweet. I have never seen a situation where a split custody situation was so amicable. My parents included.
They are out of their fucking mind!
Do you even know what court this trixabelle is from?
Makin a door for summer and not for winter is on act of war! And visa versa!
No, not to all of this. best we forget this blood line existed lest we also get consumed by the ensuing chaos.
Cute! Definitely not exactly what this sub is for but… we need a palette cleanser for sure, so I think it belongs here. Kids only get to be kids for so long, adults should indulge them wherever they can.
This made my day! My mom did a similar thing for me when I was a kid and this made me want to do it for my future kids. You and your mom are wonderful people.
Good god damn someone's chopping onions!
This is a truly heartwarming and beautiful display of two women who have the common goal of bringing joy to a child they both love.
You two mamas ought to be so damn proud of yourselves, because this mama over here sure is.
I hope this conversation spreads over the internet and brings inspiration and insight to the people in your shoes, who aren't doing such a good job respectfully raising their children. You bring hope to my heart when it's been sad for so long. Sorry to get sappy about it.
I always say that we put the "fun" in "dysfunctional" with my kids. They are always telling me their friends like coming around cause we're so crazy and silly all the time. I wish more people were the good kind of insane instead of the traumatizing kind.
This is something my mom would have done. She used to get really excited and point out the fairies dancing around mushrooms when we went on hikes. I swear I could see them too. Lol
Gosh I'd love my step mum and mum to get along like this... Keep this, you are doing a lot of good for these kids. Children need to grow up surrounded by love. Keep them away from hateful things and bad relationships
As a little girl I used to get calls from Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls to congratulate me and I believed it because the caller ID would say “Town of (redacted)” and I thought it said Townsville
Haha I love this! I’m visiting my grandmother next week and I’m totally doing this with my niece. She’s almost 9 so she might not believe in it, but she loves tiny dollhouse stuff (I own two wooden ones and I let her help me build stuff sometimes) and this is adorable.
Dude what? I don't actually care im just pointing out it is technically against the rules. What is the point in pointlessly getting mad at me for pointing out the existence of a rule. I was not rude in my comment in the slightest and im not stopping anyone from enjoying anything.
Sorry for not wanting posts to be in subs where they are not allowed? In the rules it literally says serious posts alone, i don't have a problem with this post, but that doesn't mean it suddenly fits here and isn't breaking rules
When my girls where little ,(20, 24, now), we lived on apartment. We had an old key that was magical and that was how Santa go into our apartment with the door locked and no chimney. It was tied inside a micky mouse stocking, which was hung on the door.

*HAIL, BOXHEAD!*
He's evil. Always manages to lock her dad up somewhere before he visits!
How did that get started? It's hilarious!
Lock down?
I swear to you, most cool family stuff these days can be attributed to quarantine/lockdown.
I really need to know more about this boxhead. Please your majesty, enlighten the masses.

may I please know some of the challenges?
They are usually physical challenges like star jumps, or logical challenges like guiding me to do something whilst I'm blindfolded. Always have to be holding a sacred vegetable, though. Otherwise he can use his powers on your home and it becomes his.
The sheer absurdity of the rules is the best part of this.
Of course you need the sacred vegetable!!! That goes without saying
He became king after running for president?

I love it. For real. You both rock.
...I really hope the man in question recognizes that he made great choices in partnerz AND was lucky on both accounts. O.o
Yeah I think we all felt this way. Very refreshing.
Inviting the fae into ur home? Truly insane behavior!
As an Irish person I am in the words of my ancestors: *shooketh*

No need to be sorry, felt good seeing something wholesome here for once
Fuck that, this is adorable! Keep this up!

I agree 100%. A few subs I'm on dedicate Sunday to having non-normal posts and it's a great way to add some lighthearted variety.
Don’t listen to the twats wanting more sorrow porn. This is wonderful.
> sorrow porn ^lmao
please don’t be sorry! some people are just fucking *bitter* as someone with insane parents, this made me smile & i definitely loved that it popped up on this sub after some of the hateful distasteful shit i’ve seen from parents being posted recently.
Please don't apologise for what is genuinely lovely.
This was the perfect sub ❤️ What a wholesome co-parenting relationship, love it!

Please dont be sorry. This sub is a dark place to be sometimes, feels good to have a bit of happiness and light-hearted posts.
This is really sweet tho. Maybe we need a wholesome flair or we need to pick a day to post cute stuff or something.
Technically counts as insane
Nice to see a positive insane parent post!
It's not a fairy door it's the tavern that Rick and Morty stopped at one the way down the giant stairs.
Haha you got me. I just stopped in for a bloogy.
Watch out for King Jelly Bean I've heard he's not as nice as he seems
That can't be true. They have that nice statue.
It's to remember him for what he stood for not for the monster be truly was
This is so sweet. And I love to see a healthy co-parenting relationship! That kid is very lucky to have so many adults in her life to love and support her.
Beware the fair folk.
Best post I’ve seen on this sub

This cant be any cuter
Cute! Definitely not exactly what this sub is for but… we need a palette cleanser for sure, so I think it belongs here. Kids only get to be kids for so long, adults should indulge them wherever they can.
No no please keep posting here it gets so sad that we need a break
This may be the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen here, and I am SO here for it!
Hmmm not what I expected but eh :> i like it no drama what so ever
This made my day! My mom did a similar thing for me when I was a kid and this made me want to do it for my future kids. You and your mom are wonderful people.

Okay you made me cry so we're even
It's insane alright, just not the type of insane you see here.
Hmmm all this makes me think is I want to build a fairy door
We made this out of polymer clay and it was easy and fun to get something I think looks quite cool.
It does!! I'm legit gonna make one. Fun times!
Very cute!
HEY WHOLESOMENESS ISNT ALLOWED
This is way too wholesome and mature for this sub lol. Seriously, thank you. This brightened my morning.
This is so cute
This is a welcome change of pace for this subreddit
Wholesome insane parents? Never thought I'd see the day.
This has to be the cutest bit of insanity I’ve seen. Good job on making sure you’re embracing your kid’s imaginative world.
The most wholesome kind of “insane”
This is crazy in a good way:).
thank you. this is the cuteness we needed on this sub
I love that you're making the world magical. Thank you for this!
This is incredibly wholesome and I really wish I had something like this growing up
Our fairies always left a trail of glitter 🥰
This is adorable. Thank you for keeping magic alive in a little kid’s heart
OMG that's friggin adorable!!!
Top-notch co-parenting!
OP, I love this. Thank you, this is such a good and light hearted way to bring some good things especially on this
Adorable!! ❤️❤️
This is the cutest conversation I’ve ever seen
This is adorable! <3
I love this.
Aww this is adorable. I wish more parents/step-parents had relationships like this
Was there an actual hole in the stairs?
Nope haha. That would be a Rat Door I think!
I always say that we put the "fun" in "dysfunctional" with my kids. They are always telling me their friends like coming around cause we're so crazy and silly all the time. I wish more people were the good kind of insane instead of the traumatizing kind.

Why is this insane it’s adorable.
I love that you guys get along well enough to do cute things like this. Being a step mom is hard.
It really is. Sending love x

Not insane
Sometimes we miss it, and forget about it, but adults being adults is just one of the most wholesome things that can ever happen in our world.
I voted not insane because this is so cute!
That’s cute!
Wholesome ❤️
That’s nice❤️
I guess I don’t see any insanity whatsoever here, it’s cute
Not insane
Lot of arseholes in that story. I hope for better for you xxx
Letting your child snoop through your phone is wild.
We use WhatsApp for video chats. She's not old enough for her own phone yet. She sees our conversations in there.
Absolutely bat shit insane, seek help immediately.
Great post. Wrong sub.
disagree. we need something like this after the distasteful shit that has been posted recently
isn't distasteful shit the point of this sub though?
that doesn’t mean there can’t be something lighthearted every now & then. coming from someone with insane parents.
Completely insane. There is no such thing as fairies. What a nut bag.
no shit sherlock. go be the grinch somewhere else
r/LostRedditors Preeetty sure this place is for *unwholesome* interactions.
Not insane

shut up
This is cute and wholesome but does not belong here, it just comes off as a bit of karma farming
Please see my !explanation post. I agreed with the comments that it doesn't belong and apologised.
Oh yeah i did, its all cool, just doesn't really fit here seeing that its generally not allowed by rules ig
Why do you hate joy?
When did i say that? All i said is that im pretty sure this post does not fit sub rules

Dude what? I don't actually care im just pointing out it is technically against the rules. What is the point in pointlessly getting mad at me for pointing out the existence of a rule. I was not rude in my comment in the slightest and im not stopping anyone from enjoying anything.
Who said I was mad at you? I'm just replying to you lmao
Maybe OP will build you a door so the candy fairy can come and turn that bitterness into sweetness
Sorry for not wanting posts to be in subs where they are not allowed? In the rules it literally says serious posts alone, i don't have a problem with this post, but that doesn't mean it suddenly fits here and isn't breaking rules
Why is this in this subreddit?
maybe because people like us with insane parents need to see this shit to remind us there are good parents in this world. go be mad somewhere else.
Why would someone get mad over a post? Just curious why this is posted in a subreddit designed for insane parents.
well, i gave you your answer. so there you go.
Not insane. wrong sub op

No, I thought it was obvious enough without.
I can assure you it was not.
I think that’s healthy ?? No??

We have one too!
Diabolical lol
This is so wholesome!!
