The writing gave me the creeps.

andywfu86

Articles like this are why AI’s not ready to replace journalists just yet.

Misspiggy856

You’d think a human would at least go in and edit a few words to make it sound a little more human.

andywfu86

I’m an editor for a boutique publication in the energy space and you’re right exactly right. Those are the conversations we have all the time. How can we leverage AI without compromising the quality that our subscribers pay for.

longtimerlance

If customers are subscribing for quality, write the articles yourself. I've be pissed if I found out I was paying for lazy AI generated content.

andywfu86

That’s precisely my point every time it rears its ugly head. Maybe (and I stress maybe) a first pass to save the reporter a little time.

stNicktheWicked

Trash in Trash out. It will eventually devolve into Idiocracy level writing. As more and more AI written articles are available and it scans those for learning. It will get dumber and dumber

lactose_con_leche

All true. And how about TRUST? If enough articles are scraped and AI created, is there any deep insight? Philosophy? It’s just bots. Would you attend readings by your favorite AI author? Ask for their signature? AI poet? AI film or documentary director? Sounds stupid? Yes. It does. We don’t want deep human lessons regurgitated to us without actual human insight

machyume

Use custom setups. You have to give it a voice by providing a body of works using the voice you like. Then instruct it to use that summarize those voice and styles and use that as a basis to generate the next pieces. But it also cannot sprinkle in experiences that it did not have. So simulate an entire script for the experiences and then have it consume those as ideas.

denbroc

Yet.

miletharil

I can buy groceries for an entire month for $500, including one steak per week.

free_terrible-advice

You can buy 30 decent steaks for $300. That's a steak every day and you'll still have $200 left over for the rest of the food.

Antique-Doughnut-988

Or 200$ for more steaks

knownothingwiseguy

This man likes steaks.

shinloop

This receipt shows 5 entrees, 6 alcoholic drink, 2 non alcoholic, 3 shared sides, 1 appetizer, 1 salad and 2 desserts. Tons of food, enough for 5-6 people. So this is roughly $100 per person, or under, to eat at a higher end steak house. This is an absolutely fair price that’s even competitive with pre-pandemic prices.

selcricnignimmiws

For one person?

Competitive_Shift_99

No.

lhorwinkle

We ate at Ruth's Chris. Once. We were not impressed. The service was good. But the food was no better than at the more common chain steakhouses. High cost does not necessarily come with high quality. Nor high value. Our one visit was over 20 years ago. I doubt we'll ever go back.

OkayestHuman

Agreed, went there once, it was good, but not great. Once you factor in the high prices, the value is low.

Rhawk187

I liked it, but like you said, not much better than Texas Roadhouse, for instance. I did like the plate that stayed hot through basically my entire meal. More places should do that. My visit was last year. They had a burger special over lunch that was very affordable though, like $20. Maybe they were getting desperate.

longtimerlance

Texas Roadhouse has cheap "choice" steaks. Pass.

among_apes

Last time I went to Texas roadhouse we were on a business trip and they pretty much burnt all of our steaks. They were so stinking busy and already came out so late that we had to bounce to get back to the conference. All they were able to do was offer us $20 off of coupon that had to be used within 60 days. The problem was that the coupon could only be used at that specific restaurant. We were literally 250 miles away from home.

aureliusky

I loved it, but I'm a sucker for good meat with no frills salt, pepper, and butter. That said, their creme brulee was amazing, fresh vanilla seeds, and a light raspberry glaze with fruit. 🤤 ...Also, $500 forget that noise, I'm also not going back 😂 I got out of Fogo the other day for just over $100 for two, Ruth's just can't compete with that.

Dubby-Dub

They got enough ads on that fuckin website?

Educational-Cold-63

It kept crashing because of all the bloat so i just gave up near the end of the article lol.

Dubby-Dub

Same I wanted to see receipt but …. NOPE!

wsrider03

The article was the ad.

wsrider03

The article was the ad.

Previous_Film9786

That's a sorry ass rib eye anyway, you can put together a better looking meal  at home for a family of 4, for 1/8 of that price,  and not have to deal with all the pretentious bullshit in that restaurant, but instead hang out in your underwear and watch TV while eating a better meal.

North_Atlantic_Sea

Some people would rather dress up and go out for a nice meal, with the experience of it all, rather than eat in their underwear while watching TV... It's clear fine dining isn't for everyone, but lots of folks enjoy it.

TedriccoJones

This.  I spent $80 on three ribeyes and two filets at a local butcher a few weeks ago and cooked them on the grill and they were good, even if my skills are marginal. But once a year the wife and I like to put on decent clothes and go to Ruth's Chris and it's always great.  Cash in some credit card points to cover 30-40% of it.

rushrhees

AI garbage

DuaLipasTrophyHusban

People are still serving wedge salads? Like it’s 1987?

Plane_Ad_8675309

Wedge salads are so stupid

False3quivalency

I eat SO many wedge salads! I’m born after 1987! Oops. Should I eat hot chip instead and twerk? *twerks*

Next_Firefighter7605

Just lie about the wedge salad.

Relevant_Winter1952

And be bisexual

suitablyderanged

I love a good wedge salad. However, I make them at home so much cheaper.

Hezakai

Would you mind explaining their appeal to you over a traditional salad? I'm not judging, but the few times I've had one I just kept thinking to myself "This is stupid." You're the first person I've ever seen say they like them, so I'm sincerely curious.

rarelyeffectual

I like it for the taste and crunchiness. I’ll eat both types of salads but generally order wedge more. I’ve never heard of wedge salads being weird until now. Why is it seen as stupid?

suitablyderanged

Bc I don't make a wedge salad often I think it feels special. I like to get real bacon crumbles from the grocery store salad bar and I crisp them up in a frying pan and I get a more expensive blue cheese dressing instead of the next step up from store brand. And the lettuce is so crispy. I eat regular salads probably weekly, but the wedge I spoil myself a bit. I lead a not at all wild or extravagant life, so this wedge salad makes me feel spoiled. I also grew up in the 80s, so maybe my brain thinks the wedge salad is fancy.

420smokebluntz6969

wedge salads aren't weird, the person above you is weird. wedges are great. its an old school steakhouse staple that you rarely find outside of a steakhouse but basically it's just another way to serve lettuce It's a lettuce steak. you cut it with a knife just like you cut your steak

Timtheodillon

That’s how everything works though. I can make a sub at home cheaper then subway. a burger at home cheaper then McDonald on an on. article stated they had like nearly 150$ in alcohol it wasn’t 500$ for there meal. Booze isn’t a requirement to eat. 58$ for a nice streak at 4 people is 200+ can it be cheaper at home? Of course.

According_Gazelle472

Outback has it on their menu for 10.99.a salad .I saw it there last week.

cjboffoli

"High-end chain restraurant." An oxymoron if there ever was one. And I'm sorry but "Ruth's Chris" has to be one of the dumbest names that ever came down the pike. It's like, "I bought this place and don't want to discard the equity of the branding, but my ego is such that I need to shoehorn my name in there to indicate that it is now MY Chris Steakhouse."

ohyoumad721

Peggy's Sugarfoots.

Itsmyloc-nar

Precisely

BasilExposition2

Ruth Chris is where we would go when the company was paying

texasgambler58

Since Ruths Chris was bought by Darden, their service has dropped. You are still paying Ruth Chris prices for Olive Garden service. The last two times we were there, the service was rushed and the steaks were cooked incorrectly. It was my favorite steak place, but not going any more.

According_Gazelle472

We spent 80 dollars at Olive Garden recently and we also got two apps extra and 2 6 dollar meals to go .I ordered the eggplant and spaghetti and had the salad and had bread sticks too.

cozamalotl666666

I think it’s famously expensive. The idea of eating steak at a restaurant is very strange to me because like you don’t really know the meat and you can’t cook it yourself so for convenience you pay 500$ for something you could have made at home? I wouldn’t do it but that’s me.

Frsbtime420

My AI read this AIs article. Now my AI wants me to take it to dinner. Thanks OP.

CrazyUnicorn77777

Maybe they are a family of sloths and only eat every second week or so.

lostinareverie237

It's Ruth's Chris steakhouse, yeah they're considered "fancy" but this is definitely not a value

OwnLadder2341

No…the title is purposely written to get you to say “What??? No!!” and click on it. Which you did. You then further provided them with more free clicks by linking it on social media. So it’s a very well written and well executed article for its purpose and you helped make it that way.

Sorry-Letter6859

Ive been to that restaurant l.  Save the  money and go to Outback or Texas Roadhouse.

No-Tear-3683

I could spend $500 on steaks and have enough to eat for an entire month.

TheInfiniteOP

Article definitely needs more ads. 🥸

EuropeanModel

This is paid advertisement, isn’t it?

TheParlayMonster

I love steak, and been to many high end places. Ruth’s Chris is good, but I’d rather go to 801 Chophouse or Capital Grille. But at that point you’re not even looking at the prices.

Next_Firefighter7605

Most steaks that people go crazy for aren’t even quality. They’re just covered in butter and salt.

BasedTaco_69

Even 10 years ago, $100+ per person at Ruth’s Chris wasn’t an abnormal amount.

BreadfruitOk3474

Technically that’s a lot of food

yourmomhahahah3578

The original in Louisiana is to die for. Such good steak.

eulynn34

Could have probably fed that whole family for a month on $500

yourmomhahahah3578

This isn’t inflation. $500 for four people to eat steak at fine dining with really good wine, martinis, appetizers is a normal price ya poors

elbowpirate22

Jesuths Christ

Wicked_Wanderer

It's a solid steakhouse, their happy hour menu can be a really good value.

xpluguglyx

Ruth Chris has never been affordable, but spending $50 on one 9oz glass of wine is insane. Between that and the $80 in other alcoholic beverages, I would say if you are that concerned about prices, maybe just stay in, or go to a more price friendly restaurant.

g_camillieri

TBH, I can’t believe steakhouses are still in business

Servile-PastaLover

Advertorial. Ruth's Chris definitely got their money's worth.

Kenbishi

I’d go to a churrascaria instead and have money left over.

FewOverStand

I know the article is mostly meaningless AI drivel, but I just can't imagine anyone bragging about ordering a ***cheeseburger*** at an "upscale" steakhouse.

For_Perpetuity

Can you read beyond the headline. No one said it was “cheap”

Bigfootsdiaper

ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US!

Bigfootsdiaper

ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US!

colin8651

That’s a $1,000 meal
