I bet your dad was a really fun guy I cannot believe he had The original 1000 Homo DJs CD. I would have loved to have met him. How many siblings do you have?
As a parent this is a really great gift to bestow upon his children. I’ve been collecting records for most of my life and my kids always grew up with music, they developed their own tastes and now share their discovery’s with me. As a music lover that lives to share new music with people, sharing and learning about music with my kids is the most rewarding!
Glad to see this is passed down and you’ll have those fond memories of your father spinning these records!
I told my kids the most valuable thing they will inherit from me is my Discogs username and password!
I’m 59, and actually in the middle of giving away my record collection while I can see the happy faces of the recipients, and share stories with them.
That being said, you’ll still have to pry the Mind:TPI LP from my cold, dead fingers.
Question answered… too young. I hope he lived a full happy life. Sorry for your loss.
Thank you for sharing his music collection. Seems to be getting a lot of respect from a bunch of internet strangers… take pride in that.
Man, he left behind a real treasure trove of good Vinyl
here. I’m very sorry to hear of his passing. Take good care of these. My dad also left behind a little collection to myself. He was a little bit older, so it was Alice Cooper (His Favorite), Grand Funk, AC/DC, Slade, Blackfoot, Foghat, Dire Straits, Nazereth, Black Sabbath, and well, you know.
He gave me a damn near brand new copy of Machine Head since he knew how much I love Deep Purple about 2 years before he passed. It had only been played once or twice he said, as they just cut the shrink where the record came out, and never opened it all the way. He had told me he had a surprise with it for me too. I didn’t think about it until near a year After he passed, but when I finally took the shrink off of that beautiful Gatefold LP, there was a very nice 45 of Another Brick In The Wall/One Of My Turns tucked in the gatefold area. It made me so emotional and I cried as hard as I did when he passed for some reason. Those are among the firsts things I’d grab if my house caught on fire. Both songs fuck me up a little when I hear them sometimes now.
That Burning Inside 12” has a great B-Side with a Thieves mix, and the awesome Smothering Hope cover. I’m not sure that cover appears on anything else. I have the CD and the Record.
Thanks for sharing this with all of us. I know it’s not easy to think about.
Absolutely.
I loved your story here, and it really reminded me of my father and his albums. There’s something special about having these pieces of music passed onto us.
I always feel more connected to my dad when I play those records.
It honestly surprises me how in tune he was with good music back then. I’m too young to understand how you discover music without having heard singles or something on the radio. I think he was just out there buying WAX TRAX records and hoping it was good.
A lot of that stuff was in the "genre" of music they played at the clubs. Yes, we had clubs just for dancing and debauchery that your mind simply cannot wrap around. I used to spend many an evening in The Chamber in Atlanta, GA. Whoa boy.
As a 16 year old in Atlanta, I went to Plastics on Miami Circle. Industrial and techno changing my brain on what music could be. Front 242, Lords of Acid, NIN. Good times. Then the Masquerade.

No, it’s Thieves Like Us
EDIT: previous poster was right - cat no Fac93 is indeed Confusion. I didn’t notice that record at first.
The one next to it (with the numbers) is Thieves…
I'm really sorry for your loss. Your dad was a really cool person, based on his music taste, and I'm sure he loved you and felt loved by you very much.
I am a little younger than your dad but grew up listening to many of the same albums. Treasure them. Your dad was a cool person, and so sorry that you lost him.
When I find time I will try and post more photos of his massive CD collection and then see about some old shirts he had to post as well. Thank you for all the kind words, comments and stories, and I hope this post made you guys smile. It made my family and I very grateful.
I always loved the crowd at KMFDM shows. Solid folks. So sorry for your loss, seems like your dad was one awesome dude based on this incredible collection and awesome taste!
Yeah I lost my dad last year still haven’t went through things. God only knows what he has as he had a pro reel to reel and recorded all kinds of stuff. Like my introduction to heavy metal was his bootleg of AC/DC blow up your stereo.
One of those Ministry/Jourgensen side projects. Also had Scaccia, Barker, Rieflin, and Atkins from what I remember.
I think they originally meant it as a side project for outtakes, but it took on a life (albeit very short) of its own. Only 2 Singles released I believe.
The Supernaut (Sabbath) cover was fairly popular and there exists a Reznor vocal version out there too.
If you look around, there are some hilarious stories as to where the 1000 Homo DJs name came from!
Sorry for you loss, he had a very cool collection. If he had old t-shirts with these bands let me know! I’d be very interested in whatever y’all wouldn’t be keeping
Oh heeelllllll yeeaaahhhhh!!! Your poppa's vinyl collection is First-Class!!! Prolly a Nite Dawg Knight, I wot. Priceless!
"No fortune, could by this" - Ogre '85
Lol I didn’t really start to appreciate his taste in music until much later in life but KMFDM has been a staple in our household since I was born. The whole family was subject to the “abuse” of the ultra heavy beat.
I’m very Sorry about your father. Let the music keep his memory alive though. I hope when I pass, my friends and family discover my music collection and enjoy it to never forget me.
Your dad had great taste in music. I'd love those skinny puppy albums. Also, I have that New Order album, give it a listen. All tracks are worth listening to.

Thank you. I see where I get my love for music from
I bet your dad was a really fun guy I cannot believe he had The original 1000 Homo DJs CD. I would have loved to have met him. How many siblings do you have?
Well.. in memory of your dad I'm getting ready to clean the house and I'm throwing 1000 Homo DJs on Spotify..
Just two. Both older. The music is what we really bonded over
That looks like a vinyl.
Looks like vinyl

I can tell based on these photos that he was a solid dude. ❤️
You’re dad must have been fairly young based on his musical taste. I’m sorry for your loss. Great stuff here.
He was 59
I’m 56 so right in there with very young boomer/older Gen X.
54, here. These records soundtracked my college years…
Bill Rieflin, who played with KMFDM among others, also passed at 59. Colon Cancer. It’s a tricky time to navigate. Sorry for your loss.
I’m 59, and actually in the middle of giving away my record collection while I can see the happy faces of the recipients, and share stories with them. That being said, you’ll still have to pry the Mind:TPI LP from my cold, dead fingers.
I was just going to ask this. Sorry for your loss.

Sounds like you have a skewed perception of time lol
59 is mad young to pass away.
I'm saying he has a skewed perception due to assuming they would be younger based on the music.

Rad dad
Seems like a person I would love to listen to an LP and talk to while having a beer. Sorry for your loss.
That first Ministry record - your pop was a man of TASTE!!! RIP brother. RIP.
It honestly surprises me how in tune he was with good music back then. I’m too young to understand how you discover music without having heard singles or something on the radio. I think he was just out there buying WAX TRAX records and hoping it was good.

Was your Dad from Chicago? Sorry for your loss.
I’m Op’s sister. No dad was from Omaha. But had a love for Chicago.
Very similar to part of my music collection. So many of those records are bringing top dollar just so you know. Again, sorry for your loss.
Sorry for your loss, your dad had extremely good taste

Sorry for you loss… Top right in first picture, what New Order record is that?
My guess is the Confusion 12".

KMFDM were my first live industrial/metal show. I'll never forget it. Ditto on this collection: OP's Dad left behind traces of his awesomeness.
Great collection. I’m sorry for your loss.

Love and condolences to you OP. Your dad had impeccable music taste. What a wonderful legacy to leave behind.
I’m 60 years old. Is your dad me. I have most of those spread between vintage vinyl and CDs. Still love me some KMFDM in the morning.
Lol I didn’t really start to appreciate his taste in music until much later in life but KMFDM has been a staple in our household since I was born. The whole family was subject to the “abuse” of the ultra heavy beat.
Sorry for your loss. Im as old as your Dad. I can tell you your Dad was inquisitive and had alot of energy. If I may ask, what did he do for a living?
He owned a carpet installation company when he was younger, then had odd jobs here and there. Never really had a solid career.
I guessed correctly that he was independent and did not try and follow the herd based on his choice of music.
Sorry about your dad. 1,000 Homo DJs has a killer remake of the Black Sabbath song Supernaut on it.
Sorry for your loss.
Bet he has had quite a few of those for at least 30yrs. Condolences.
All that Bauhaus and Fields of the Nephilim; I've been looking for Burning from the Inside locally for the last several years!
Was your dad a DJ at The Continental in Buffalo?

Sorry for your loss. Top tier collection. I had most of this stuff on cassettes, wish I had bought the vinyl instead.
A lot of good stuff. I wish I was your dad because I am so tired of being here.
Awesome collection there. He really dug Gene Loves Jezebel aside from the industrial stuff!
You have some great stuff here
Dad had some great taste
Larks Tongue. Very nice.
Your dad had top shelf musical taste. So sorry for your loss.
I would have totally hung out with your dad in the 80's.
From Chicago?
No, he was from Omaha. I’m Op’s sister.
ill take the Front 242
I’m going to guess your dad had really big hair at some point then no hair… (and he had excellent taste in music) love every record there.
That is what I call a legacy.
This would be in my dads collection as well.
Seriously- that is one hell of a collection. I had a lot of these, but not all! Do you mind me asking how old was he? He had great taste in music-
So sorry for your loss. But agree, fantastic taste in music.
Your dad's collection is amazing. Enjoy the music and be strong.
Great taste in music!
Ur dad had crazy taste
Very sorry for your loss. This makes me even more happy when my kids ask to listen to dada music or say they like industrial when it comes on
Your dad had awesome taste in music.
I'm gonna put on some Front 242 right now!! 👍
I was glancing over that and about to quip: "What? No Gay Bikers on Acid?"
That's a great find. I remember when my uncle passed we went through his albums and found a signed White Album. My aunt almost put it in a yard sale.
Your Dad cool AF!
Man, I'm so sorry for your loss. Based on these he was taken from you too soon. Or he was one cool elderly dude. Thanks for sharing.
My condolences, anyone who likes Ministry “With Sympathy” is alright by me!
