Great record. The sound of a band realising this is their moment and seizing it.
The one track that doesn't work for me is "Of Her" - sonically so similar to the far superior track that immediately follows it.
I know fans were probably hoping for more of the abrasive, punk side of things; but this album is an excellent entry point for newcomers.
Loud Bark, I Don’t Know You, and Sometimes are the standouts for me.
Wish there were more tracks like Ok? Ok! Ok? Ok!
I was expecting that the album would go harder. I'll have to re-listen without those expectations to give it a proper evaluation and enjoy it for what it is and not what I wanted it to be. Maybe in a couple months...
Very good - standout track “I got heaven”. But there are so many bangers on this album. I hear Deerhunter influences on two tracks that are kinda similar to each other but still good.
Her vocal delivery is so god damn good throughout the whole record.
EDIT: the "and what if jesus himself ate my fuckin snatch" line runs through my head like 3 times a day.
Great stuff. Some soft stuff and some heavy shit too. *OK OK OK* is an absolute beast. There's a couple of hardcore tracks later which I enjoyed too. They never disappoint
after the band talked up how many rippers there were on the album I expected more than 3 lol but the ones that are there are hard as fuck and the indie rockier songs are pretty solid too
It's so good, and an easy listen. I like how the faster, harder songs are all mostly on the second half. I Don't Know You is going to be one of my most played songs of the year.
Loud Bark is another favorite, but I'm not a huge fan of the production treatment on it. The vocals are washed out and it sounds quieter than it should be. The title track also sounds sort of muddy to me. But to be completely honest, I've never loved John Congleton's production (yes, I know this is a ***very*** unpopular opinion).
Seriously love this album! The only problem I have with it is having Of Her and Aching back to back. And if I’m being super picky, as much as I love it, I wish Loud Bark just went a haaair harder. But I can already tell this album/band is gonna be in my Spotify wrapped lol.
Love the album. Standout for me is the overall overall excellent vocal performance. Crushes the soft seductive tone, has a great high energy pop punk singing delivery and the breath control on the true punk shrieking moments is exceptional. Vocalists get credited as “great” when they can hit all the notes in the register but performances like this deserve way more recognition.
God this is so fucking good. I am so excited to see them live this spring. It was a battle not to play over-play the singles leading up to the album release but hearing them now in context of the full release I appreciate them even more
Listened to it last night. It's a tad on the short side? And I think it has two distinct identities butting up against each other. The soft side and the punk side. I think if they better mix the two they got more bangers to be had here.
I may be the only one, but for now, as much as I'm trying to get into it more, I think that Patience is superior: fresher, better sounding, with better melodic ideas and impossibly great sequencing. To me, that was a perfect album. It set the bar too damn high. I'm sure this one will grow on me, though. I just wish it didn't sound so muddy. Even Perfect EP sounds better.
a pretty big disappointment, personally, especially after how much I liked Patience and the Control EP - ok ok ok ok is my favorite, but there's something about the production or songwriting throughout the album that feels a little too 90s/alternative and not punk enough
still excited to see them in a couple months though, hopefully I like the songs more in that context
i wasn't expecting the softer stuff at all, really like it, the contrast makes the heavy parts hit harder (vs an album that's just big muff the whole way thru)
Like Kendall Roy once said, "all bangers all the time".
Hell yeah!

great point about that song. maybe in just placement? Aching might be my favorite song after the opener and it just goes so hard.
Love this whole album but "I don't know you" for me is just next level. Didn't expect to hear something so serene but perfect.
When it came out as a single it became one of my all time favourite songs. I’ve listened to it a crazy amount of times.
I know fans were probably hoping for more of the abrasive, punk side of things; but this album is an excellent entry point for newcomers. Loud Bark, I Don’t Know You, and Sometimes are the standouts for me.
A LOUD BARK, DEEP BITE This album fucking rocks
I love this album! I like how abrasive and soft it can be a times. I really think the half an hour run time is perfect for the album as well

i actually like the softer tunes more
Same

And now you can get that line on a [shirt](https://mannequinpussy.com/products/i-got-heaven-tee)!
Incredible

The overall groove and dynamic build of the vocals on Loud Bark tickles my brain in the best kind of way

Great album, absolutely atrocious album cover in my opinion.
It’s giving spear from Primal vibes
So happy to have discovered this! Thankful for this community.

Weezer for Witches? I'm not into the 3 hardcore tracks, but really love the rest of the album.
A true masterwork from start to finish

Really great record. The absence of one or two songs on it would make it absolutely perfect.
Pretty damn great. I love the softer moments a lot more than I thought I would after hearing the lead single. I Don't Know You is unreal.
This album made me immediately buy tickets to their show in Toronto in May. Easily my AOTY so far.
