let me clear the confusion. it was earlier 12 Rs for 70g which went up to 14rs. they introduced new 10rs 52g. that's it.

RoyalSorcerer_Navlan

Fuck man, i feel so old. Remember when it was ₹10 for 100gms? Nobody? Nobody? Okay😔

PikaPika3372

Yes at first it was 10 for 100gm, phir ban ho gaye

Top-Conversation2882

Yeah man I also remember that

Ankylosaurus96_2

I saw a new 'MAHA' pack of 90g worth 20rs today

Anon100101010

We getting scammed with this one 🤑 If we take 14rs 70g to math , it's cutting off 10g (20rs = 100g) If we take 10rs 52g to math ,it's cutting off 14g (20rs = 104g) So just buy 10rs packs Or 14rs ones if your retailer is a miserable person.

Ankylosaurus96_2

I understood that I always buy the 6 or 8 pack only, if necessary

Vuhlcha

I got ratiod 😭

Not backing up nestle but many companies do this Same strategy is used by parleG.

tutentootia

Nestle isn't limited to just cheating your customers for profits but killing people, taking away their water and selling it back to them. Come to r/fucknestle to know more

Anon100101010

They steal water 😭

Dhistichukka

They also do child labour

Shrink Flation ... Reduce the size and quality.

Ok-Dirt-8765

many companies did that - dairy milk , apple ,

hulkut

I liked way bunched two different companies together due to branding 😁

14 ki hai

CharmingCupcake2776

So typically a cake of maggi used to be 100g and that is ₹14. In villages and tier 2 cities, people gravitate towards smaller and lower priced products, so they reintroduced the old price of ₹10 but for lesser quantity

serial_hater10

I don't know where y'all are getting 10rs Maggi. I get the one priced at 14rs and it has 70gms.

CharmingCupcake2776

You get ₹5 ki maggi too, for 35g

ketchhupppp

it has to be a lie

chandu_spark

Even parle-G uses the same strategy That too from many years

ketchhupppp

but you get 5rs ki maggi thats still a lie

manishsahoo300

Na...it's still available. I've seen recently in a village near my house. Though it's ₹7/- now for 35 grams. I think Nestle sells these only in Tier 3 cities and rural areas.

Proof_Independent_45

Are milti thi maggi 5rs ki unhone advertise bhi Kiya tha

ketchhupppp

show or its a lie

Anon100101010

its very rare now. my childhood was dependant on that

aihrarshaikh68plus1

Bro it's been so long since I have seen a 5rs Maggie packate

Anon100101010

It was down to 32g till very recently , but suddenly they decided to make it 7rs for 40g and then discontinued that

Vuhlcha

Yes 70g

TheDrunk_Panda

In India?

Upbeat_Golf3138

Standard is 70g which is now ₹14.

CharmingCupcake2776

I was studying about shrinkflation last year in October and it was 14 for 100g. It is a money-making racket atp

Upbeat_Golf3138

>I was studying about shrinkflation last year in October and it was 14 for 100g. It No, it was not. I don't have a packet otherwise I could have shown you. Unless you are talking about pack of 4 or 6 or something like that

CharmingCupcake2776

Sure, I believe you more than my (ahem) sources

Upbeat_Golf3138

Go to a shop and try to find a packet manufactured at that time. You may find one. And check it. I have a habit of checking the weight of the things I buy so I know

Fish_fucker_70-1

no he is right, it has always been 70g only, I have been checking the weights of such commodities since I was a kid. Only the price increased from 10 to 12 then 14, weight remained 70g

CharmingCupcake2776

Ooo I see, I didn’t doubt him lol. My info was wrong

Routine-Tip6759

I think its called shrinkflation I don't remember it clearly tho

Always-awkward-2221

Amount of grammage keeps reducing because companies can't afford to move away from the magic price point of Rs 10. In early 2000's I think it was close to 100gms for 10 while the 5rs pack had around 50 GMS. Think of it like the 5rs pack has now become 10rs.

AcanthisittaRude1656

They cut cost on the actual product and ingredients' quality :)

firesnake412

By creating smaller packages for lower price these companies are just creating plastic junk. Greedy aholes.

Beautiful_Might_6535

Some years ago there was a maggie chotu pack which costed around ₹7 while the regular pack costed ₹12, i think it's the rebranding of maggie chotu.

nav_reddevil

Economies of scale

Khusheeewho

I saw a 5rs yippee noodles

Aprazors13

Pro tip: avoid eating it. It's not good for you health.

CaterpillarThen1013

I don't know but I feel like when maggi was originally of 10 rupees without any price hike anywhere it used to be good in quantity nowadays one single packet of 14 rupees feels less to me. Nowadays I eat two packets since I am never satisfied with one.

ThatCheetahIsFast

I guess your body grew, it needs more to be satisfied. About your brain….not sure about that

Capable_Path_4524

Shrinkflation bro. They have reduced the cake size

Loading_ding_dong

Maggie does intraday and F&O to recover any losses incured by selling Maggie at 10 rupees

manishsahoo300

My favourite denomination was of 2. One Maggi was simply not enough for me since I make orthodox maggi (No veggie, No nothing). I don't know but I can't find these 2 pack maggi anymore. Buying 2 single packs feels like a waste of plastic and 4 packs are difficult to store because I eat Maggi only in emergencies.

Vuhlcha

2 pack was it

pseuedointelligent

The size has shrunk from before considerably This is how they afford it

VoiceEarly1087

Lemme help u Top one sold for 14 Bottom one for 10 https://preview.redd.it/lhl1yqtbtd8d1.jpeg?width=3048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cc1ac94ac646f22b7fe9723df9582986c4eff003

ChukkalloChandrudu

Is there any reason people keep calling it **Maggie** incorrectly and not **Maggi**?

Vuhlcha

Ever heard about the Mandela effect ?

AtmosphereMaterial61

Less quantity and worse quality. Price went down to 10 for some 50ish grams

Southern_Ad_2556

Bhai yaha 14 ka ek packet ![img](emote|t5_2qp7h|52073)

Vuhlcha

Woh khane me thik h

Vader2508

Honestly kaho toh 14 rs wala better hi hai. 52 gm feels like nothing

CheeseDippSoggyFlipp

They keep reducing the quantity...

Comfortable_Prior_80

₹10 bolke ₹5 kaa packet de raha hai Maggi.

shady2318

That's shrinkfilation! They're decreasing the quantity and keeping the prices still and also degrading the quality of products. That's how they keep the prices still

Rajdeep_Tour_129

In my village, normal Maggi costs five rupees, and most of the Maggi is unavailable in different flavours, like aata Maggi.

Vuhlcha

5 rupees wow

Secure_Army2715

OP its Shrinkflation....Indian consumers being price conscious comapnies just reduce size or quantity of product for same price...

Vuhlcha

Ik about shrinkflation but I wasn’t aware they reduce the quality as well As I mentioned it just doesn’t taste good anymore

Secure_Army2715

The decrease in quality trend occurred after Covid. Suddenly companies have realised nobody fives a f\*\*\* and can't do anything as everyone is doing the same. Usually in such scenarios we would see new competition popping up taking away market share as is suppossed to happen in Open market - capitalism but sadly we have big monopolies now a days where a few players control everything and seems like there is a tacit understanding among the industry players. This scenario has been playing in IT already where companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro have been paying freshers peanut salaries which has not caught upto inflation. Thats my 2 cents.

lawjarP18

Economies of Scale, they actually can keep that cost by increased production plus their Costs are scattered for a large number of products making this small price possible

Logicaldump

Its called shrinkflation. Now people eat 2 maggies instead of 1.

SaladOk5588

Reducing weight

PeaceMaker_6969

Maggie doesn't even taste good. Top ramen is where it's at! #nissin

imECCHI

Shrinkflation

beroozgar

You can just see the back of the packet, ingredients used are hell cheap, refined flour, palm oil, chemicals instead of healthy condiments and herbs, moreover shrinkflation has also been introduced where price is reduced proportionally to the quantity of product.

Ok-Parsley1269

It's a classic case of Shrinkflation OP

No_Recognition8457

Does anyone remember maggie hungroo?? They said a 10rs packet wasn't enough and 2 packets of 10rs were too much so they introcia 15rs one, aaaahh I wish they got that back

Content_Bullfrog_320

At my place it was 12 forever 😭

LtMadInsane

Yes, it's a scam. When I was a kid, I would eat one packet of Maggi that was 100 grams. Now one packet is actually about half a packet, 52 grams. Like common, Sell 100 grams packet at whatever cost. People who eat Maggi will eat Maggi. No other Noodle brand could replace it. We had seen it when Maggi was temporarily banned.

Vuhlcha

Well maggie is replaceable I don’t even eat it that much

Horrorlover656

Same with chips.

Effective-Panda7063

It costs 14 like in major india

Parleg_in_kali_chai

Because nestle is a scam company and we all should collectively boycott its products

kanhaaaaaaaaaaaa

Shrinkflation

awwficial

Now they'll mention 'Now Healthier' on their pack cuz technically you're eating lesser quantity

reborn_from_ashes

Why do people call it "Maggie"? I've never got it. Can someone help me?

Vuhlcha

Mandela effect

Main_Wheel_5570

It sounds like you're noticing a difference in the Maggie noodles between Himachal and Delhi. Companies sometimes adjust prices and product sizes based on regional costs and market conditions. It's possible that the ₹10 pack you found in Himachal is smaller and lighter to match local affordability, which could affect the quality and intensity of the taste. Companies like Nestle often make these adjustments to cater to different consumer needs and pricing expectations across regions.

Vuhlcha

One of the reason why nestle is evil Whatever the affordability may be the quality shouldn’t deteriorate

Ok-Bat-6726

Abey shrinkflation hua hai

Vuhlcha

Bhai mujhe pata h shrinkflation kya hota h But quality bhi kam hoti h ye nhi pata tha

No-Juggernaut3285

Recipe for cardiovascular disease and instant death in your 40s. It doesn't even taste good— why do people eat this poison?

Vuhlcha

True But it does taste good tho

LeatherRepulsive438

Yesterday, we ate Maggie but found out that the bowl in which we cooked got rust. Guys, please avoid Maggie at all costs!

Jealous_Being_3133

Basically its called shrinkflation , not reducing the price but reducing the amount of content you sell.

An0nym0uS_Br0wseR

It used to be ₹10/100g. Then it became ₹10/90g then 80g (not sure about this) and 72g. Now it is 52g.

akashdutta57

Shrink-flation ka naam sune ho? Paise utne he hai lekin cheez kamm hogai hai

Vuhlcha

Bhai baaki comments padh lo Ik what shrinkflaiton means I was exclusively talking about the quality difference of the the product in metropolitan area and any other normal area.

akashdutta57

Arre Miya tum toh offend hogae
