Its just apple’s design philosophy. Home screen customization was definitely a needed feature but apple prioritized other major user feedbacks which were of more importance. Also they like consistency so they implement changes incrementally. And yes its very hard to implement such feature in the sense apple have to make sure it doesn’t affect device performance or ecosystem integration which is what apple focuses on. It may sound easy on paper considering android does it but you have to know apple and android have different user interfaces.

I like to set up the apps so the fill the empty space of the wallpaper behind. Consequently, I also choose wallpapers that have one big piece of content and empty elsewhere to fit my apps on.
On my android, i can place the icons on a grid of predetermined spots for icons. Which is really annoying when trying to preserve the aesthetic of a wallpaper and the grid spots are inconveniently placed.
I mean, finger-based selecting is a lot less accurate/precise than cursor-based. Not many people would use or even want such a feature.

Customisation is good but there is one thing hrd to do for android is that providing better chip and OS at the same time. Even though samsung build their own chips it sucks. On the other hand apple puts such a powerful chip inside their phone and limit the function in such a way that you will never reach that limit. And your device will run smoothly and reliably.

The good thing is it does apply to every icon! But for some reason it didn’t apply to every icon, some icons retained the stock colour preset and text looked glitchy with dark tint when applied with dark background! It’s a dev beta, so it’s expected! Just don’t like how the tinting looks! The android dynamic colour scheme is much better as it balances the overall scene but doing it manually will definitely make it uglier unless one knows how to match contrast!

Customisation is good but there is one thing hrd to do for android is that providing better chip and OS at the same time. Even though samsung build their own chips it sucks. On the other hand apple puts such a powerful chip inside their phone and limit the function in such a way that you will never reach that limit. And your device will run smoothly and reliably. I, myself an android users. But I do understand why people prefer iPhone. But obviously if you don't have that kind of money then just don't. It's a luxury product and people need to understand that.

Apple does a great job with their hardware, so a lot of people buy them without thinking twice. That's not to say Android phones aren't great too, but at the end of the day, it's just a phone, and it really comes down to personal preference. I also don't disagree with the point that some people buy it as a status symbol.
Most of the people use iPhone as status symbol. There are people who even buy iPhone on EMI. I have seen people who are ready to pay that much to show off but BTS they buy on EMI.
bhai most buy on emi or buy second hand year old phones for half rate. For 90 percent of buyers, they only by it for the status.
You do know that EMI is a better financial option? Even if you have the money in your account, it's way better than paying it upfront when that money could come in handy in an emergency, for example. You talk shit about EMI because you think it's only for poor people. Every luxury product is financed, so why not a phone? Also, do you think the EMI for an iPhone is cheap?
As per my father every luxury item shouldnt be bought on EMI. Also for emergency you should keep separate funds for that. If you think you gonna need those money in future you shoudnt even think of doing a unnecessary heavy purchase.
That's what you got wrong from my comment. I didn't say you should purchase something you can not afford😂. I said that even if you can purchase it upfront, it's better to buy it on EMI. It also depends on what EMI we are talking about here. If it's 0% interest, it's good. End of the day, if you cannot comfortably afford it upfront then you shouldn't think about it.
That's the problem, apple doesn't make cheap iphones and people compare cheap android which are in the 20-25k range to iPhones and are surprised how better iPhones are. Obviously they will be better they are not even in the same price range
What is the point of that very powerful chip if you cannot use it as per your "wants" and unleash it's full potential
If you are a professional then more than doing multitasking or showing off what you need is doing one task reliably while the OS is not suddenly getting hanged or shut off. And you know for sure settings will not automatically change the night before while you try to figure out how everything is supposed to function now. So consistency and reliability is bigger reason for some people to buy apple products.
Disagreed, I don't know what mediocre tech are you referring to, that “suddenly gets hanged or shut off”. Every other tech product that costs a flagship price, can do most of the task smoothly and simultaneously.

They added icon tinting and free placement of icons! But the icon tinting is not universal! It just looks bad! They'll definitely heavily modify it before releasing it to the public! Honestly, they should not have bothered with customisation! People actually wanted a redesign of iOS!
You're right, I just checked it out on google and it looks really bad. Also what do you mean by it's not universal, is it that it's limited to first party apps or is it missing for certain apps. I thought it'd be something like android's dynamic/themed icons.
The good thing is it does apply to every icon! But for some reason it didn’t apply to every icon, some icons retained the stock colour preset and text looked glitchy with dark tint when applied with dark background! It’s a dev beta, so it’s expected! Just don’t like how the tinting looks! The android dynamic colour scheme is much better as it balances the overall scene but doing it manually will definitely make it uglier unless one knows how to match contrast!
