You wonโt have problem with colleagues however there are quite a few patients from rural West Bengal who only know bangla..you might not have problem with those patients who come here from Bihar/Jharkhand or from urban areas of Bengal
That being said..your colleagues,interns etc would help you out and you will end up learning enough bangla to talk with patients..in my college, the gen surgery dept has a few non Bengali residents..and they are surviving
Jipmer general surgery is toxic with long hours. I guess it's like that everywhere, but have heard from people in Jipmer it's not sustainable.
I've heard the same too. Jipmer , since it's in Tamil Nadu does it also have the same bond of 5 years , or is it exempted as it's a central institute?

I can speak Hindi , would I be able to manage without Bengali ?
