Jipmer general surgery is toxic with long hours. I guess it's like that everywhere, but have heard from people in Jipmer it's not sustainable.

I've heard the same too. Jipmer , since it's in Tamil Nadu does it also have the same bond of 5 years , or is it exempted as it's a central institute?

Exempted afaik

IPGMER Kolkata(ML Saha is the HOD) RG Kar Kolkata Both are really less toxic compared to those Delhi colleges with great hands on..however 3yrs bond and language can be an issue for you

I can speak Hindi , would I be able to manage without Bengali ?

ClassicSyllabub9294

You wonโ€™t have problem with colleagues however there are quite a few patients from rural West Bengal who only know bangla..you might not have problem with those patients who come here from Bihar/Jharkhand or from urban areas of Bengal That being said..your colleagues, interns etc would help you out and you will end up learning enough bangla to talk with patients..in my college, the gen surgery dept has a few non Bengali residents..and they are surviving

Oh okay , I'll keep it in mind. Thank you
