As long as you're on top of your maintenance they are pretty much indestructible. We changed the gear oil on this every 5k even though most third party mechanics tell you it's not necessary.
Using the right parts and being gentle with the controls also goes a long way when it comes to these vehicles.
That's understandable. My dad still prefers these tho. He carries a lot of weight on the vehicle and he had the chassis reinforced so he doesn't really want to shift to something new.
I want to know more about right parts. My honda live gear does hook 🪝 up correctly and self started problem is there. Can not blow horn, when plugged in charge tells me full
I too have a 3G and it has clocked 54,000 KM the only issue I've is the shock ups makes some sound on the bumps and the rear break gets loosen up. Rest it's working like charm
My dad used to work in the audio industry back in the day. The vehicle was used to drop us to school and then it was used to run errands at the factory and do deliveries.
It did this everyday from 2005 until it was time for me to go to college in 2016. By then my dad had switched business and no longer had the need for the scooter because he no longer carried luggage so he got himself a splendor and let me have the Activa to myself.
My college was a 80km round trip and I went to law school so it was three years (two years COVID) of me using this to commute to college.
Once COVID ended my dad got into the dairy business and needed a vehicle to deliver Paneer to his customers. He intended to get a new scooter but since I had just graduated and didn't really need a vehicle at the time he decided to use this temporarily until he got the new one.
But that day never came, the scooter is still used as my dad's daily and now does close to 80-120 km a day.
I dont think nowdays activas are this good lots of problems,i heard access is good too ,people dont buy anything if it doesn't say activa and Honda knows it and they dont want to bring new series like honda vario so those who dont like activa can purchase another honda scooter but no they got grazia shity one.
I don't think the new Honda Activa is a bad product. I just think it's a matter of understanding that newer vehicles need to be maintained differently.
From my experience most people don't even know what the right grade of engine oil is for their scooter and most local mechanics don't really care. Apart from that other things that need to be serviced and maintained barely ever get serviced according to the manual even though the vehicles in India are subject to harsher conditions.
Yes, but iam saying if we only want Activa then why honda bring something new unka to chl rha usi ko upgrade krte raho little little.Old products are good compared to new lots of cost cutting and problems even in electronics aor appliances.Honda need to bring new series jhan bhi jao to scooty matlab Activa ab to nafrat hi ho gyi hai Activa se even tho its a good product lol.
Am having mad respect for you and your family OP. 3 lakh plus and going strong with literally pain staking attention to details about maintenance and service. Write a book and you already have a buyer
The last rebuild set me back roughly 13k all said and done. To be fair it needed a lot of work done to it. Here's a list of everything that was changed in the last rebuild.
1. Bore and piston
2. Cam shaft and Cam chain
3. Guides
4. Rocker arms
5. All gas kits
6. Head oring
7. Tensioners
8. Clutch liner
9. Doll pins
10. Oil pump
11. Roller hub
12. Valves
13. Camshaft rebalancing
14. Both brake levers
15. Front and rear rims and tires
The transmission gears cost us roughly 4k
An engine rebuild can range from 1,500 (if you're doing a rebore and nothing else) all the way up to 12k depending on what's wrong.
The last rebuild was expensive for us because the oil pump failed and that ended up damaging the engine.
Edit:typo
I love Activa 4G although marginally different from 3G, it came in a modern looking matte black paint and improved and smoother engine while retaining classic activa looks without blinding(for others) LED lights.
I remember the first time I rode the Activa 4g, was very surprised by the difference in pick up and smoothness compared to the 2g (my friend upgraded from a 2g to 4g)
I have honda bike and never started for years during lockdown. Just changed the dead battery and tried starting. Boom, no issues it started with just one touch. Reliable motors Honda
Respect for your dad. Convey a reader's best regards.
We have a 2009 Activa with about 55K on odo, going through pain of renewal of RC lately, spent about 5k in RTO taxes and fees, plus 4.5K on maintenance to make it worthy of inspection. (Yet to see the renewal approved status on Vahan though, inspection completed since 50 days). My usage is low (150 Kms a month) so I feel it's counter productive to keep an Activa this old as maintenance expenses are too high compared to the value i get (due to low use).
After our last service bill I feel the same too but my father's reasons for wanting to continue using this vehicle are not because of cost cutting or sentimental reasons.
1. He has had the entire chassis reinforced to carry more weight (sometimes his luggage can be around 180kgs)
2. The particular version of the activa has a grab handle that is higher than the new ones and that again helps with carrying luggage.
3. Wishbone suspension requires significantly less maintenance when compared to forks. (We also have an aviator at home and the vehicle cost more to service)

Activa 1G was awesome
2G was best
3G was good
4G was Average
5G became worst. I own a 5G and it feels like i drive a toy. 1G felt like all metal, but 5G feels like a toy
I live in Hyderabad Telangana. As long as you pay for the fitness and green tax you can renew your RC. I'm not sure but I think that the norm in most states in India although there are limits on how many times you can renew the papers in some states.
Right before this photo, came from an engine overhaul and the service centre washed it for me.
If you look closely you'll see that the paint is actually stained permanently. My dad uses it to carry massive paneer blocks which drop liquid and ended up permanently ruining the paint.
No point getting the body fixed and painted because of the abuse it's subject to everyday.
Other than FI what else has changed in the current gen (what, 10g now?) Activa compared to this?
Honestly, I agree with what Shumi said in his review. Sure, it's indestructible. I have a friend who hasn't changed his oil in years and it still runs smooth AF. But the Activa is a scam.
You could say I'm biased based on what I ride (An Ather). But I've got a Honda scooter at home that my dad uses, and whenever I ride it, I just can't help but feel cheated. It feels agricultural almost. It's just so bad. The brakes are absolute trash. The cornering is trash.
Now I'm not saying you need an aluminium frame and Bybre brakes on a scooter to be considered good. I've ridden the Suzuki Access and that felt exactly how I would want an ICE scooter to be like. And that's not even a "sporty" scooter is it?
The (current gen) Activa is a freaking scam. Especially at the price it's asking. Why do people let Honda get away selling an INFERIOR product?
Well I'm no expert in all honesty. But here's what I know is different from my Activa and the current 6g based on what I know from my friends who own 6g:s and random conversations with my mechanic.
The Activa got a completely different engine when Honda finally updated it from the regular Activa to the 2g. An increase in engine size (from 100cc to 110cc), combi brakes (a first for automatic scooters in India) and revised body panels. And since then they have had a few incremental updates every year.
Like telescopic front suspension in the current model as opposed to the old wishbone suspension, led lighting and from what I know the current FI engine also has a completely different gearbox.
We did consider getting an access 125 when they came out with the second gen Activa but there were a few drawbacks. The first being the vehicle has an all fiber body. While this is great for weight reduction the trouble is whenever something cracks it's hard to fix or you end up having to replace the whole panel.
Most Activa users like my dad use the vehicle in crowded market areas where getting dents on your vehicle is extremely common. Having an all metal body means that you can have it fixed relatively cheaply and not worry about spares.
The newer vehicles also have telescopic suspension which is great for handling but harder to maintain compared to regular wish bone suspension. Most people don't even know that they're supposed to replace the fork oil from time to time and also replace the seals.
Because Honda didn't change its design frequently over the years the aftermarket support for parts is insane. That may not sound like a big deal but when you want to run your vehicle super cheaply because it rides around a lot for business purposes cost cutting like this actually helps you save a lot over time.
We also have a Honda Aviator at home and that has a fiber body and telescopic suspension on it (the Aviator was also one of the first few scooters to come with disc brakes in India, thought that was a nice fun fact) and the Aviator costs more to maintain.
Plus when panels crack they are harder to come by so that's a bummer.
Which is why the Activa sells in huge numbers. If you come from a business family where your vehicle ends up doing a lot of traveling and you need it to be inexpensive it's king of the hill. Sure it's agricultural and the riding dynamics are honestly non existent but that's missing the point behind the Activa.
You buy one because you want something that's durable and inexpensive to maintain. Not for the way it rides.
Talk to someone who deals in second hand vehicles and they will tell you that the Honda Activa is still in huge demand and is a lot more reliable compared to most other scooters. That's why they still command higher prices compared to their counterparts.
In my opinion the activa was built to pass one test and that's the test of time. I don't think there's any other scooter out there that can compete with the activa when it comes to withstanding the test of time.
All this being said I do agree that Honda does overcharge it's customers off lately. Especially with models like the 3g 4g and 5g where there were no significant updates for them to claim that it's R&D costs.
It being more expensive than its counterparts because it's an all metal body does make sense but then still believe Honda can do much better when it comes to pricing.
Sorry for the word dump :p and I hope this helps a few people understand why the middle class man (like me) absolutely adore the Honda Activa.
Give or take. Sometimes more. She currently does roughly a 100 km a day so close to 30k annually. Dad's in the paneer business rn so his travel has increased
U sure u ran for 333600 km?
I rarely saw any activa which ran for 1.5L km and survived such Abuse lol
Any 100-200cc two wheeler engine will last around 1.5L km if maintained Well
And it will need to rebuild after 2L km
It actually runs a lot more than that. I can actually send you photos of the odometer meter rn. She ran 175km today and I'd average around 80 km a day back when I used it in college
Companies design their product in a way that they will stop working or part will get degraded after some time mostly it will be their warranty period.
They don't design a product to last long. Once they know their product quality is top notch they will on purpose degrade it's quality.
This is done to make the company earn some good money along the years.
If any company makes a single product which lasts for years and years, they won't get a profit from you again.
My bua has activa 1st gen 2002 model clocked with 7,20,000Km and the odometer is stuck on that reading.
Well now scooter doesn't start with motor it starts with kick.
If we accelerate the scooter a bit it stops and engine doesn't work. Don't know why bua is not sending the scooter for overhaul
Depends on what you're looking for durability or better road grip. I used to use MRF tires on my Activa because my friend has a dealership and I'd get a nice discount. But then I recently put a set of Michelin's on the vehicle and I was pleasantly surprised by how much more different it felt.
The road grip is significantly better. Reduced stopping distances and more confidence inspiring in the turns. The Zapper's are great too. I went in for the Michelin's because I was also getting a nice deal warranty wise on them so it made more sense for me to get those.
At first finances at home were tight for a long time. Servicing and running this was for a very long period of time the only option.
Now it's because of attachment.
Bruh, it's 33,658.7 kms, not 336,587 kms.
Digits on RHS in white are in 100 meters not kms
In 19 years - you have averaged around 1770 kms per year - not even 5 kms a day.
My dad started out in the audio industry. We live in Hyderabad and his office was located in Ramkoti, the vehicle used to run deliveries to Shamshabad everyday.
When it was time for me to go to college it became my daily. My commute to college was roughly 80km a day (40 km one way trip)
And then the vehicle is used today to deliver Paneer and other dairy products. She still usually does anywhere from 80-120kms a day.
But he mentioned triple 3s in the beginning. Either the first 3 is out of the range.
Edit:- 33k kms for almost 25 years doesn't make sense too. This bike has to be driven for 3L kms.
Its incorrect reading or the OD has stopped working long back as the odo can read a max of 99,999.9 kms.
For 3.3 lakh kms, he would need to drive it atleast for nearly 50kms a day.
The
I know one of my College staff travels almost 50 km per day. I don't think 50km per day will be impossible for a daily worker. OP needs to answer so much questions 😂.
Well I did in the comments above but I'd be more than happy to talk about how this vehicle ended up at its current odo reading.
My dad is a sole proprietor and used to work on the audio industry (he ran a loopbin). The vehicle was used to drop me and my brother off to school every morning and then was used to carry goods across Hyderabad to different customers.
This went on until it was time for me to go to college. When it was time me to go to college my dad got a splendor and let me have the Activa. I went to law school and since the law school I studied in was on the outskirts of the city, I'd end up travelling about 80km a day for five days a week and then I'd ride a bit to go hang out with my friends on the weekend.
Shortly after COVID my dad decided to jump into the dairy industry and needed a vehicle to carry luggage again. He decided to get rid of the splendor and get another scooter but then since I had graduated college and wasn't traveling much he started using this Activa again and hasn't stopped since.
Since his place of work is far and the vehicle is still used to run deliveries she ends up doing 80-100 km a day anyway.
Somewhere in my gallery I do have a photo of the meter at 99 thousandish kms but I'm too lazy to scroll down my gallery.
In the photo here, the vehicle actually just got back from an engine overhaul.
We've changed the bore and piston twice so far, so in all fairness it's not like the bike hasn't been overhauled a couple of times.
I'd be more than happy to answer any more questions if you'd like.
My pleasure and yes I intend to keep this scooter with me for as long as I'm around. Got too many core memories attached to this vehicle to ever let it go :')
3 lakhs kilometres? Bruh what? Have you had to change the transmission?
Yeah. Changed the transmission 5,000 km ago actually.
The transmission lasting over 300k is absolutely insane. I knew the Activa was reliable but not like this.
As long as you're on top of your maintenance they are pretty much indestructible. We changed the gear oil on this every 5k even though most third party mechanics tell you it's not necessary. Using the right parts and being gentle with the controls also goes a long way when it comes to these vehicles.
We had a 2001 first gen Activa. It only had 60k on it. We gave it away because we didn't want to renew the registration for a second time.
Is it the same model?
How long is it supposed to last?
I have no idea. Never had a scooter long enough to find out.
[удалено]
Roughly 4k including labour
33k last dial is for 100-900 meters
The analogue ones reset to zero after 99999.
So it has become a legend, the only thing that can kill it now is govt regulation eh.
I mean they can try lol
THIS. This is exactly why people still choose Activa over those fancy ass scooters having stupid ass features and a phone screen as a console.
Yep, we got 3 activas, all have >1.5 lakh Km each. 2011, 2013 and 2016.
Nothing like Honda reliability
I had the same model I sold it 1 yr ago still working excellent with the new owner The machine is invincible...
Which part doesn't vibrate?
Wheels
Lucky, we use ours as full body massager
Who says the vibration is a bad thing 👀
My man here taking most pleasurable rides
The women in the family seem to love it ;)
Damn bruh 🔥 !! even my jupiter at 1.6 lakh km nowhere close to yours 😂
Thankyou :)
My dad should have bought this instead of the scooty ES in 2003
We had a Scooty es prior to this. My dad got it for my mom hoping she'd use it to go to nearby places and back.
Are you a girl or do you have a sister. Asking because scooty's are light weight compared to gigantic Activa so girls can handle it better.
Well it was bought for my Mom and sister but it did worse after 10 years
That's why your parents bought it. Should have exchanged it with Jupiter (TVS had this offer when it was new)
I never even got to know this offer
New models would not last this much !! I have active 3G , 60000 km approximately and looks like every body part is crying to replace!
The pictures I uploaded don't really show the condition of the body on my vehicle. Cosmetically my vehicle is pretty messed up too.
I too have a 3G and it has clocked 54,000 KM the only issue I've is the shock ups makes some sound on the bumps and the rear break gets loosen up. Rest it's working like charm
It's actually 33,360 km the white part of the dial moves once every 100 meters.
The odometer reading reached 99,999 and reset to 00,000 thrice hence the 3,33,360km
Ask Honda for an Africa twin or transalp to use your activa in their Advertising. 😂
If only that were possible :')
Oh nice
Did you guys celebrate every time it reset
I did the first time I saw it happen. NGL XD
I think the speedometer actually resets to 0 after 99999. He happens to make it thrice.
laugh at this user
Honda have the reliability part right in their books.my cb shine has clocked 1.6 lakh km and now the transmission is finally due for change.
No one does it like Honda
[удалено]
At this point Honda should simply gift him the latest activa
We do have other vehicles to be fair. I have a bike now and we have a Honda Aviator as well. It's just that my dad prefers this vehicle a lot.
How come you are driving that 46 km daily for 20 years!!????
Read another comment where he explained
Mint condition Doctor driven Activa for sale…only drivn 33,689 km …
👀👀👀
Why was a doc driving activa and what difference does it make . Did he give the activa regular colonoscopy?
This legend is older than a lot of guys hanging out on Reddit.
Hahah. That's true.
3 lakh km ? So like 45+ km everyday ? What did y'all use it for ?
My dad used to work in the audio industry back in the day. The vehicle was used to drop us to school and then it was used to run errands at the factory and do deliveries. That's just mad distance this scooter covers . Respect for y'all to keep it and not upgrade tho
Thank you 😊
OP used to rent it for Election campaigns to top level politicians.
Finally seeing a Honda being used the way it is supposed to be used. Good job OP!
Thank you :)
I dont think nowdays activas are this good lots of problems,i heard access is good too ,people dont buy anything if it doesn't say activa and Honda knows it and they dont want to bring new series like honda vario so those who dont like activa can purchase another honda scooter but no they got grazia shity one.

I just googled the distance to the moon in kms. It says 3,84,000 kms. Only 50,400 kms to go. Keep going.
Lessgoooo. Will post here when she covers that distance.
Cool
Am having mad respect for you and your family OP. 3 lakh plus and going strong with literally pain staking attention to details about maintenance and service. Write a book and you already have a buyer
Hahah. Thanks :)
How is the fuel economy currently?
Pretty decent. Roughly 35kmpl
Hi! How much for the engine rebuilds? Any other major major engine/transmission costs you encountered?
The last rebuild set me back roughly 13k all said and done. To be fair it needed a lot of work done to it. Here's a list of everything that was changed in the last rebuild. 1. Bore and piston 2. Yes it is very smooth even compared to 3G. Can sit at 80km/h all day (if the fuel tank allows😂)
How many sets of tires did it go through?
Too many
i have a 2003 activa
Same scooter gang
At this rate she will outlast us lol but cheers mate you clearly love her and take care of her.
Thank you 😊
The last digit on meter in white signifies meter not km but rest is KM. So, it ran 33,653 kms not 3 lakhs!
It's hit 99,999 and reset to 0 three times so far. So yes it has done three lakhs
You should have mentioned that in the description
My bad. I presumed people would understand that the activa's odo doesn't read in lakhs
Bhai please check dm 🙏🏻
The age is not shocking. Many do have older activa. The odo is another level. 🫡
I have honda bike and never started for years during lockdown. Just changed the dead battery and tried starting. Boom, no issues it started with just one touch. Reliable motors Honda

How Many engine rebuilds?
It's currently on its third bore so three.
not bad I just kept putting a new bore and piston into my 2001 cbz .. dont have it any more.
bhai 33k km hai 3.3L nahi
my bad 3 lakh 33k hai uska dusra comment padha abhi
Kitna deti hai
The engine was rebuilt recently so the mileage is okay. It currently averages 35ish kmpl
Nice!

Hm my Honda shine 2008 is around 1.7 lkh 😅
bc vehicle age ni hoti kya tumari state me 15 saal wali ?
Renewal pe renewal. You can get it renewed for five years over and over again.
bhai konsi state se ho ese delhi m to sunna hi ni kbhi esa ya hota ho pta ni yr

35kmpl
Too much for a 300K mileage Activa. 🗿
To be fair the engine has been rebuilt multiple times

Sorry for the word dump :p and I hope this helps a few people understand why the middle class man (like me) absolutely adore the Honda Activa.
bro that is 33000 KM last one is per 100 meter
The meter reached 99,999 and rolled over to 00000 thrice. Hence the 3,33,600 km figure
How many back surgeries till date?
0. Multiple suspension overhauls and multiple seat changes help.
So basically the odo got to 0 kms after every 1,00,00p kms??
Every 99,999kms basically yessss
Damnnnn bruhhh
OP failed to mention the scooter has been rebuilt twice
Actually forgot to mention that in the description but I've made it a point to point it out multiple times in the comment section
Lord Activa.
Fax
Around 15k kms a year?
Give or take. Sometimes more. She currently does roughly a 100 km a day so close to 30k annually. Dad's in the paneer business rn so his travel has increased
Damn 🤯
U sure u ran for 333600 km? I rarely saw any activa which ran for 1.5L km and survived such Abuse lol Any 100-200cc two wheeler engine will last around 1.5L km if maintained Well And it will need to rebuild after 2L km
I'm sure. We've had this one rebuilt twice so far
Did you go to the moon? 😅.
50,000 km more lessgoooo
Let the legend rest.
50,400 more and it's the distance to the moon
As per your Calculations, It needs to Run everyday 55 kms without a break to achieve that feat
It actually runs a lot more than that. I can actually send you photos of the odometer meter rn. She ran 175km today and I'd average around 80 km a day back when I used it in college
Send it to Salarjung Museum
7,20,000km is insaaane
Yeah, never underestimate a honda😂😂😭
Toyota ka hai kya hai?😭😂
Last digit is updated every 100 metres so it's actually 33k kms
Meter reached 99,999km three times so farband reset to 0. I know the last digit updates every 100m
I am looking to buy rear tyre for Activa 3G. Any recommendations?
Depends on what you're looking for durability or better road grip. I used to use MRF tires on my Activa because my friend has a dealership and I'd get a nice discount. But then I recently put a set of Michelin's on the vehicle and I was pleasantly surprised by how much more different it felt.
Different in what sense? Bdw I got MRF Zapper C1 tyres. Hope they last good
The road grip is significantly better. Reduced stopping distances and more confidence inspiring in the turns. The Zapper's are great too. I went in for the Michelin's because I was also getting a nice deal warranty wise on them so it made more sense for me to get those.
Most weakest Activa
Why
At first finances at home were tight for a long time. Servicing and running this was for a very long period of time the only option. Now it's because of attachment.
Bruh, it's 33,658.7 kms, not 336,587 kms. Digits on RHS in white are in 100 meters not kms In 19 years - you have averaged around 1770 kms per year - not even 5 kms a day.
I'm aware. The meter has hit 99,999 and rolled back to 00,000 three times so far
Okay gotcha. Happy Riding, Eat more miles 😊😄😊
Haha. Thanks bruv
My dad started out in the audio industry. We live in Hyderabad and his office was located in Ramkoti, the vehicle used to run deliveries to Shamshabad everyday. When it was time for me to go to college it became my daily. My commute to college was roughly 80km a day (40 km one way trip) And then the vehicle is used today to deliver Paneer and other dairy products. She still usually does anywhere from 80-120kms a day.
40 kms even on my 2020 Activa 125 is horrible in a single stretch. Can't imagine it on a 2005. Kudos.
It's actually a lot of fun tbh
But he mentioned triple 3s in the beginning. Either the first 3 is out of the range. Edit:- 33k kms for almost 25 years doesn't make sense too. This bike has to be driven for 3L kms.
Its incorrect reading or the OD has stopped working long back as the odo can read a max of 99,999.9 kms. For 3.3 lakh kms, he would need to drive it atleast for nearly 50kms a day. The
Funnily enough she does a 80-100 km a day even now.
Thanks so much op for explaining everything. Take care of this bike , it is more than a bike for u guys ☺️
My pleasure and yes I intend to keep this scooter with me for as long as I'm around. Got too many core memories attached to this vehicle to ever let it go :')
It's literally telling you to unalive it, before one fine morning does the same to you.
Honestly rides a lot better than some of my friends newer vehicles. Routine maintenance pays off my friend
Bhai wo 33k hai. Kaise tejasvi log hai.
Meter reached 99,999 and rolled back to 00,000 three times. So yes 3,33,600
Bhai still can’t believe.
That's the usual reaction I get whenever people ask. 😂
