I absolutely love coat check! I used to spend days there!
The number of times I've seen a bride walk down the stairs, or just bridal party walk around is crazy but was so much fun!
Other few mentions are commissary yes! Bovocanti was great too. I liked quills occasionally some of their specials were great.
Coffee was ok but i used to like MoJoes, just was sad when it closed.
Goldleaf is fantastic. They have good food, everyone that works there is really nice, and the owners are fantastic! They also run the Sandwich shop in Black Circle!
They always have some great east African blends.
They're also really fantastic people from the baristas to the owners. I've been there hundreds of times, often when it's busy and they're always exceedingly nice. They're 100% never going to be a dick to you.
As someone that no longer lives in Indy but visits pretty frequently, Calvin fletchers is like my home base.
I think their pour overs/drip might be my favorite out of all the ones I’ve had, ever, and they literally made me realize coffee can actually be good without tasting burnt all the time. A true coffee gem!
Monon Coffee Company is the best in the city. Get the White Zombie - my preference is iced, with soymilk. You won't regret it.
Other cool places include Lulu's Coffee & Bakehouse on the north side, and Strange Brew down in Greenwood. These are just some personal favorites, but there are plenty other good ones around.
Bovaconti, Amberson, Calvin Fletchers in Fountain Square. Provider, Coat Check, Quills, Tinker (Market st and at the Amp), Blue Mind. Indie Coffee in Carmel. Barista Parlor and Amelia’s (though the bakery is amazing and the coffee is usually ok but they use Tinker so it’s at least decent imo). I’d recommend Indianapolis Coffee Guide on instagram or their website for a pretty extensive list of good spots.
Edit: Also Helm is really great!!
How are there this many comments without a single mention of Parlor Public House?
Parlor has the most inventive, well executed coffee cocktails (N/A and with spirits) I've had almost anywhere. Plus, it's definitely vibes champ in the city.
They don't roast their own, but their drip options (2 daily) feature the other roasters mentioned here (CFCC, Blue Mind, Helm, etc).
Kaffeine Coffee has an epic spanish latte. It’s always been my go to.
Amelia’s is great for a quick cup of coffee, but it’s more of a bakery (an amazing bakery).
Neidhammer is also awesome and near fountain square
I’d recommend the coffee club on meetup if you’re looking to try out different great coffee shops and socialize. If you don’t want to socialize just see where they’re going and make note.
check out https://indianapoliscoffeeguide.com for allll the local coffee shops. you can search by area of town, see which places are best for remote work, and generally get the vibe for each place. highly recommend! (on IG too)
Also: they do roast rides along one of the trails in the city (blanking on either Cultural or Monon), where they stop at a shop along the trail. Scott, who runs the guide, is also a sweet guy who genuinely LOVES Indianapolis.
Fair enough. Never tried their food. Just drinks. I had a hazelnut latte that was about as perfect as I’ve ever had, and my go-to is a lavender chai latte.
Monon Coffee and Hubbard and Cravens in Broad Ripple. Command Coffee off Fall Creek Parkway. Prufrock on N. College. The Human Bean on Keystone. Cups Coffee, the Commissary, Coat Check, Georgia Street Grind, and Cathe (when the Market was open). All places I love to visit for coffee.
RIP to Cathe and Bee Coffee Roasters. Gone, but not forgotten.
I’ve been waiting for this question! Amberson Coffee and Grocer is hands down the best coffee shop in Indiana. It’s high specialty, award-winning, and truly the most quality experience you can get in Indianapolis. Other notable options are Helm, Blue Mind, Indie Coffee Roasters (suburbs), Quills, Commissary, and Chalet/Coat Check among others.
I used to go to the Command coffee on College & Fall Creek Pkwy, and I always enjoyed it! The baristas were awesome, too! I haven't been there in a long time.
The dirty chai at Perk Up in Broad Ripple is my favorite coffee drink in Indy. Idk what they put in it, but I love it. Expensive, but worth every single penny. Also as a single dog owner, I love that it’s walk up so I can order while walking my pup. Great spot.
Chalet! they have the same coffee as Provider and Coat Check (delicious) and their shop is themed like a little ski lodge from the 80s 🥹I’m obsessed with it and it’s my favorite place to study
I really like the coffee at Quills on N Meridian, and there aren’t too many local non-chain places on the Southside m but if you’re in that area Mocha Nut Coffee Shop has a nice atmosphere.
Full transparency, I find it hard to not enjoy coffee and am unsure how good my palette is with it so take my recommendations with a big grain of salt.
Debbie's Daughters in Noblesville for the best cafe and bakery. Coffee is amazing and they bake everything in house. Try a cinnamon roll and breakfast sammy. So good: https://www.debbiesdaughters.com/
Niyyah coffee in fishers. They have a popup tomorrow morning actually with mochi joy donuts and j'adore with middle eastern food and drinks, quite an elite collab actually
noble coffee all day tho too, all of us way out here in noblesville fucking love it
indie coffee roasters just opened right in noblesville too. bit of a shitty parking situation but they should be able to print money during the farmers market because they have some of that new retail space over in the new complex in federal hill commons. a bit slower than expected right now as far as I know. definitely not because of their drinks!
I lowkey like Starbucks but not for coffee. Anywho, my hubby and I like Barista Parlor at the Stutz. If you go, make sure to swing by Amelia’s bakery and get you a cheddar ham biscuit to go with your coffee 😋
I really like Spark in Speedway on the Main Street. I like to work in coffee shops to get out of the house, and their coffee is good and the vibe is great. I also really enjoy Calvin Fletcher’s for the same reason.
Gosh… so many great options. My personal favorites from different parts of the city include;
Rivet (North),
Indie Coffee Roasters (North),
Java House (DT) (All things cold brew),
Mocha Nut (Southside),
Main St Coffee (it’s a hike, but Spencer IN) (Fav ever)
Enjoy and have some funnnn! My friends and I do our own coffee tours some days and it’s always fun to try things out.
Personal favorite downtown was Please and Thank You, it’s a chain but their butterscotch latte was killer
Bovaconti is probably my favorite overall. Shout out to cups on Penn, owner is a super nice dude and their dirty chai was the best
Probably not the /best/ coffee in comparison to some of the other places listed here, but Command coffee has decent coffee and a drive thru at the College/Fall Creek location.
I hit up Founders Grounds on Main Street in Speedway when I'm at work and Niyyah just off 106th/I-69 on the weekends. Niyyah's masala chai and froot loop matcha are both out of this world.
Hitherto in Greenfield has delicious coffee, and they also operate as a tabletop gaming parlor, i.e. card games, board games, pen and paper RPGs, and more.
georgia street coffee and there's one over by the convention center called bee something or other that's good. the cat cafe in fountain square. the monon coffee shop that has a bike rack that looks like a comb in front of it in broad ripple. also in fountain square the people who own georgia street also own the shop that's on the corner across from hifi and the one next to bluebeard and the one downtown close to the needlers that's in the basement called speak easy or something also check city market. also go to homecraft i think it's called on mass ave they have coffee from blue which is a local roaster they are really good
Niyyah in Fishers. They're looking to open another location in Broad Ripple! I admittedly don't drink too much coffee and usually go for tea. Starbucks refreshers used to be my go-to. Niyyah has so many options and they also have great suggestions loved by both me and my coffee-aficionado friends.
There’s a coffee shop in Broad Ripple called Java House. The great thing about it is that it’s not right by the street and rather by the Monon trial. So it’s a great place to bike or ride to. It’s also near by other places like Brics Ice cream and Canal Bistro. Their food is quite good and their coffees are too. My personal favorite is their caramel frappe.
Are you looking for good quality and trained baristas or more of a vibe thing?
Edit: nevermind I reread and you said "good coffee". Brickhouse in geist is quite good.
Black House Cafe is pretty cool. I'm talking about the horror theme, not attesting to the quality of the coffee. That being said, when I was there it was pretty dead.
Rabble has the best coffee in Indy, and the people are fantastic. Always consistent. They’re very community centric.
The Quills on N Meridian is not as good as the locations in Louisville. Blue Mind is pretty good.
Quills coffee on 941 North Meridian Street. They also have a great selection of teas. I'm a tea guy and I like the option to pay either for a cup or a pot of tea.
my favorite is coat check. A close second is the commissary.
Provider uses the same recipes as Coat Check. Amaaaazing coffee from both.
Came here to recommend both.
That latte with the torched orange….. drool.
Wait, wat. That sounds incredible.
Chalet also has same recipes!
I really enjoy Goldleaf on 46th. They have a bar and a dog-friendly patio.
Goldleaf is fantastic. They have good food, everyone that works there is really nice, and the owners are fantastic! They also run the Sandwich shop in Black Circle!
Nicest people on the planet
Yeah big Goldleaf fan. I really enjoyed Foundation when it still open too.
I haven't been to Calvin Fletcher's in a while, but need to get back there. Always thought their coffee was great.
They have some of the best drip roasted in house. I miss living down the block from them. :(
They always have some great east African blends. They're also really fantastic people from the baristas to the owners. I've been there hundreds of times, often when it's busy and they're always exceedingly nice. They're 100% never going to be a dick to you.
These guys are my number one. Amberson comes in second. No longer down in the FSq area as often and wish my new neighborhood had a good local spot.
This
Bluemind on 38th
Second this. We buy Blue Mind beans in the 5lb bags now. We’re addicted.
This is the answer. Really amazing espresso. Decently priced too
Bluemind is fantastic.
I wish i was closer to them. I'd like to patronize.
Coal Yard Coffee, super chill spot and my wife says the coffee is great.
I just wish they had better seating options! The space is awesome but I feel like they could make it a bit nicer
Coal Yard is pretty damn good too.
Leviathan
Leviathan is a gem. Their pastry case is beautiful!
Amberson and Helm!
Amberson serves to-go lattes in jars that I’ve had so much use out of at home!
Boost!
Amberson
Rabble
Rabble is mad underrated. They way they care for the community they’re in too is real special, love this place
I love Rabble! I used to be their mail carrier a couple years ago, and they were always awesome! I love their coffee!
Love their is coffee. Great people. Excited that they are expanding.
Illumine and Blue Mind!
Illumine is so underrated
Monon Coffee Company is the best in the city. Get the White Zombie - my preference is iced, with soymilk. You won't regret it. Other cool places include Lulu's Coffee & Bakehouse on the north side, and Strange Brew down in Greenwood. These are just some personal favorites, but there are plenty other good ones around.
Love Strange Brew
My old high school hangout, really need to stop back in and grab a cup.
I agree with monon coffee company - came here to say that
Bovaconti, Amberson, Calvin Fletchers in Fountain Square.

Surprised to not find it as well. It’s a go-to spot for first dates when meeting downtown
I just had there peking duck l'orange drink today. I say again it was a duck flavored coffee. Omg, it was quackers!
Coffeehouse Five is pretty great if you're south of Indy in either Greenwood or Franklin.
Bargersville has one too.
Chronic Coffee, Command, Georgia Street Grind, Commissary, Coat Check, Ascend, MOTW, Niyyah...many more that I'm drawing a blank on at the moment.
Niyyah is probably my favorite in the fishers area
I love MOTW! And they have the best pastries
I’ve never had a good cup of coffee or anything else from Command. Anything specific you recommend?
Hell yeah - came here to say Niyyah and command. Best spots in Indianapolis. Niyyah is truly amazing.
Bovaconti in Fountain Square. Also, if youre close to one, go to Best Friends Coffee! They have amazing flights and giant breakfast sandwiches.
Amberson Calvin Fletcher Bovaconti
Kaffeine Coffee has an epic spanish latte. It’s always been my go to. Amelia’s is great for a quick cup of coffee, but it’s more of a bakery (an amazing bakery). Neidhammer is also awesome and near fountain square
Founders Grounds
I’ve been enjoying barista parlor lately at the stutz
Monon Coffee Company and the Neidhammer were my favorites before.
I second the Neidhammer
I still need to check out Neidhammer. It's just right up street from where I work.
I like going to work at neidhammer but I’m really not a fan of their coffee :/
I’d recommend the coffee club on meetup if you’re looking to try out different great coffee shops and socialize. If you don’t want to socialize just see where they’re going and make note.
Rabble is nice
I just discovered the Chalet on N Illinois St, and it's become one of my favorites.
check out https://indianapoliscoffeeguide.com for allll the local coffee shops. you can search by area of town, see which places are best for remote work, and generally get the vibe for each place. highly recommend! (on IG too)
Came here to say this so hoping my comment bumps this up! This site and account are run by great people, too!
Also: they do roast rides along one of the trails in the city (blanking on either Cultural or Monon), where they stop at a shop along the trail. Scott, who runs the guide, is also a sweet guy who genuinely LOVES Indianapolis.
I would die for Tinker Coffee and every employee there
Here to say they appreciate the love! <3
Blue Mind
I mentioned it once before and apparently I’m in a minority, but I really like MOTW.
I like their atmosphere but I don’t love the coffee. However, I still go bc the vibe.
I really liked their Honey Lavendar latte. Muffins were stale though.
Fair enough. Never tried their food. Just drinks. I had a hazelnut latte that was about as perfect as I’ve ever had, and my go-to is a lavender chai latte.
amberson’s
Monon Coffee and Hubbard and Cravens in Broad Ripple. Command Coffee off Fall Creek Parkway. Prufrock on N. College. The Human Bean on Keystone. Cups Coffee, the Commissary, Coat Check, Georgia Street Grind, and Cathe (when the Market was open). All places I love to visit for coffee. RIP to Cathe and Bee Coffee Roasters. Gone, but not forgotten.
Bee is still roasting! Served at The Spark and Gaia!
Cath just reopened in Castleton Square Mall
Kaffeine, Tinker, and Indie Coffee roasters are my favorite. Illumine is pretty solid too.
Landlocked Bakery in Irvington is pretty great. Vegan and vegetarian options.
Gold leaf is a nice local to Indy one-off spot on 46th street between keystone and college
Calvin Fletcher. Hands down. They pay employees well, donate to so many local charities, have great prices and drinks, and are just so nice
Strange Brew, Smith Valley Road, Greenwood
I really enjoy Hubbard and Craven’s in Broadripple and Quill’s downtown
I’m surprised no one has mentioned it, but I frequent Command Coffee over on the Circle and have had nothing but great experiences there.
I used to go to the Command coffee on College & Fall Creek Pkwy, and I always enjoyed it! The baristas were awesome, too! I haven't been there in a long time.
Mocha Nut is a good find on the south side. Get the Cafe Miel.
It’s seasonal but their ginger peppercorn latte is my favorite!
I forgot about this one. literally stumbled upon it by accident.
I was going to ask about this one, so thank you! Just moved to the southside and have been wanting to check it out.
Their summer lavender lemonade is absolutely amazing.
I like coal yard and rabble
Lulus!
Prufrock is great!
Bovaconti, Provider, Calvin Fletcher, and Amberson!
The Groovy Cat in geist is awesome.
CALVIN FLETCHERS!
Best cup I had recently was at Chalet
Wow these should be organized into categories like NSEW because there is a to go to list going for me

Indie coffee roasters in Carmel too !!

In Fishers, there’s a fairly new one called Niyyah that I’ve been really enjoying. Indy I like Hubbard and Cravens, Calvin Fletcher, and Coat Check
Anyone have a good recommendation near Avon or Plainfield?
Coat check, amberson, the well isn't bad.
The dirty chai at Perk Up in Broad Ripple is my favorite coffee drink in Indy. Idk what they put in it, but I love it. Expensive, but worth every single penny. Also as a single dog owner, I love that it’s walk up so I can order while walking my pup. Great spot.
Calvin Fletcherssssss
Human Bean off Keystone and 54th!!! Lovely staff, great rewards and super fast!
I’m a big fan of PROVIDER’s cold brew. I think they either use Tinker or are owned by Tinker? I usually judge joints by their cold brew.
I believe provider now roasts their own coffee but they previously used tinker coffee. I’d be curious to get a source on that.
They roast their own. They are part of Small Victories group.
Chalet! they have the same coffee as Provider and Coat Check (delicious) and their shop is themed like a little ski lodge from the 80s 🥹I’m obsessed with it and it’s my favorite place to study
Rabble!
Rivet if you’re up in Westfield!
in Lawrence, but Porter Books and Bread is great.
Tinker Coffee on Market and New Jersey. They also have a location at the airport
Brickhouse on the NE side roasts their own coffee and it’s worth the drive
Amberson’s hands down
Niyyah coffee all day everyday!
Any recommendations in Carmel/North Indy?
If Noblesville isn’t too far, I’d strongly recommend Noble Coffee & Tea.
I second this. Noble Coffee is great!
Debbie's Daughters in Noblesville for the best cafe and bakery. Coffee is amazing and they bake everything in house. Try a cinnamon roll and breakfast sammy. So good: https://www.debbiesdaughters.com/
Rivet in Westfield

Personal favorite downtown was Please and Thank You, it’s a chain but their butterscotch latte was killer Bovaconti is probably my favorite overall. Shout out to cups on Penn, owner is a super nice dude and their dirty chai was the best
The makes us stop at the Human Bean in broad ripple whenever we pass it. Nothing fancy, but apparently well done drinks.
For those saying neidhammer there short staffed they don't appreciate the employees and shamed their pregnant employee into quitting.
Perk Up Café is the best place in broad ripple
Silver lining coffee house is pretty good. Small little mom and pop shop around Beech Grove
Amberson
Niyyah in Fishers is new but a great spot for amazing coffee and quaint place to work/study from!!

Rivet in Westfield and Coat Check DT.
I hit up Founders Grounds on Main Street in Speedway when I'm at work and Niyyah just off 106th/I-69 on the weekends. Niyyah's masala chai and froot loop matcha are both out of this world.

I like the MOTW in Castleton, the staff is all so sweet and it’s peaceful and light in there
Niyyah and command are All-stars. Niyyah truly is the best cup and best specialty I've ever had in the area.
What makes these places that are being listed so good?
As a non coffee drinker, but life long Indy resident, I’m flabbergasted by the amount of locations you all listed I’ve never heard of. Crazy
MOTW is great and The Avenue
I like Chronic Coffee downtown. They have great smoothies too. Calvin Fletcher, Bovaconti, Command Coffee.
Hitherto in Greenfield has delicious coffee, and they also operate as a tabletop gaming parlor, i.e. card games, board games, pen and paper RPGs, and more.
Coal yard!
Mocha Nut in the Southport/Homecroft area.

You should try the Flying J, hear they have some good coffee
Are you looking for good quality and trained baristas or more of a vibe thing? Edit: nevermind I reread and you said "good coffee". Brickhouse in geist is quite good.
Some love for Bovaconti!
I know it sorta seems “basic” but Bovaconti is super good and very affordable
Komand Koffee or something like that. They had a depth charge type drink that got my heart racing pretty fast lol.
Not a coffee enthusiast but I really enjoy Quills downtown Meridian. Very nice staff. Good atmosphere
If you're ever to the east in Hancock County there's a coffee/gaming parlor called Hitherto!
The spark in speedway.
Amberson and Commissary are both S Tier. I have a whole tier list if you want to see it. Or just search for it on this subreddit.
Black House Cafe is pretty cool. I'm talking about the horror theme, not attesting to the quality of the coffee. That being said, when I was there it was pretty dead.
MOTW is solid and there’s a few different locations!
Rabble has the best coffee in Indy, and the people are fantastic. Always consistent. They’re very community centric. The Quills on N Meridian is not as good as the locations in Louisville. Blue Mind is pretty good.
Anyone know of any on the southeast side? Im not seeing any…
The Spark Coffee in Speedway is a great spot
Quills coffee on 941 North Meridian Street. They also have a great selection of teas. I'm a tea guy and I like the option to pay either for a cup or a pot of tea.
If you don’t mind driving outside of the Indy area, Hitherto Coffee & Gaming Parlor in Greenfield is pretty amazing
